I am having the same problem. I have read and done all that I can see on this thread but still not working. Did you ever get it to work and if so what did you do differently?

I have removed Squad folder from the list for shortening it, but you need to have that too of course

Where do I go for the FF ribbon? I've read several posts back and I've downloaded the two packs from FF's page but they don't have any of these planets included. Just wondering if some one could point me in the right direction, thanks!

Never mind about how to get them, I found them will looking through the OPM folder; however, when I look through the ribbons in the FF menu in the game they do not show up. Any ideas as to why?

Just popping in while on holiday. Glad to see the community is helping each other with installation issues and such!

Also happy to see that Kopernicus has been updated. Too bad it happened just at the start of my vacation and you have to wait extra long for a fully compatible OPM version.

From the changelog it appears like it has a lot of great features and bug fixes.

Once I get back in a couple of days I will make sure to get out 1.7 as quickly as possible. I will also then reply any unanswered questions then. Have a great weekend.

This mod looks great and is awesome in KSP(as it gives a purpose to unlocking the super efficient Xenon engines and the cool Electrical ones in NFPropulsion), however I would like to see some more high-res textures for the gas giants. Up close, the textures are unrealistic and you lose that sense of realism that you keep with the other planets. I would install the EVE enhancements and stuff, but EVE hasn't been updated in over a year now and it alone takes up about 1/3 of the memory the game can use because the textures are in the WAAY old format. I still love these planets, I just wish you guys could make some higher-res textures for the gas giants themselves. Also, add some moons to Neidon. It's pretty boring going to it, and considering how far out it is, it makes it kind of useless to also if you have something more than a tiny satellite.

OK, I'm here to report a problem using Kopernicus version 0.08(or whatever the specific is). If you do not use the version that comes with the .ZIP file of OPM, you will not get a rendered Space Center, will not be able to click on anything or move the camera, and all you will see is one of those 3D ball things that shows the X,Y,and Z axis off in the distance spazzing out.

Also note that this mod slows down loading times significantly with Kopernicus 0.08, but works fine with the version that's inside of OPM's .ZIP file. :)

I *think* it's related to previously mentioned cache files - I remember having similar issue when updating to 0.7, and fixing it by moving the cache files back. 0.8 lets the config files to point at a location outside Kopernicus, so upgrades won't break stuff anymore.

Fantastic mod! I will have this permanently installed unless someone makes a a new solar system.

But I have discovered one strange thing so far. Tekto is sometimes in the game, and sometimes not. It seems like the engine decides to drops it based on some random criteria (memory should not be the issue as I don't run too many mods). Has somebody got an idea what I can do? Because I want to land on Tekto and use it's athmosphere!

As ModZero noted, it has to do something with the cache files. To use OPM with Kopernicus 0.0.8, copy the Tekto.bin file in Kopernicus/Cache from the OPM download into the Cache folder of Kopernicus 0.0.8. All other bin files can seemingly be generated by Kopernicus without issue, Tekto however is weirdly bugged. The black body issue still persists as well even though Kopernicus 0.0.7 fixed it on Moho - no idea why or how to go on about fixing it though.

When trying to send Multi SCANsat BoxSat to Slate, game died when it was on semi-proper Slate low orbit already. I went to sleep, but in the morning I discovered that my save is b0rked - can't load that probe anymore: some PQS errors, blackness in flight, only stars in map view, and like 5% of FPS - was unable to switch back to TS. Logs/crafts/save/crashdump here. What can be done about it?

This is all I can do - switch to map view, it is stuttering at 1-2 FPS, then press Escape for LONG, it will see it and I can exit to KSC which is empty too (only stars).

Edit: destroying that probe and then HyperEditing new probe to there starts to spew this:

Is there science and contracts related to these new planets? Nice job otherwise! I'll keep an eye on this for new moons and rings. Is Urlum rotation tilt around 90deg like its reallife counterpart?

There appears to be some glitch with the mod. If you accept the contract for the planet (i.e. Explore Sarnus), leaving mission control will delete the contract, making going to the planets useless for money/reputation. Hopefully the guys can fix this soon. ;.;

It shouldnt be my mod since I do not touch slate

You should reproduce the bug with opm only, just to be sure

Or faster than Kerbol escape, even. :P It's called a high-energy transfer, and you have a big braking burn on arrival to slow down again. Therefore you need truly massive amounts of dV to throw at the problem.

I recommend mods like TriggerAU's ingame transfer window planner, and advanced engines from like Atomic Age or Near Future Propulsion (shameless plug).

For my part I'm even more crazy, and bide my time until I can have Outer Planets Mod together with a solar system rescale like Paul Kingtiger's K2, or Eudae55's Kerbol 3.7. Then I'm going to start a new save :)

I guess gettig to these planets within any reasonable time would require you to reach Kerbol's escape velocity?

depends on what you call a reasonable time

in my last save (science sandbox) I had a personal limit of 1 launch every 30 days. and it was enough to send stuff out to other planets and in the meantime build space stations and stuff

I played with RSS before. While it was interesting for a while, I didn't really enjoy that every single launch was a 10 minute IRL affair. Also, rockets very quickly got ridiculously large, unwieldly and not very fun to fly. (The actual payload, to give you a sense of scale. And note that the engines in that rocket all have over 100 Isp more than what stock parts offer.)

That was also quite a few versions ago when career mode still was pure science collection. Nowadays we have so much more that plays into it. First tests with Kerbol 3.7 indicate something in the neighborhood of ~6,000 dV into an 80km circular Kerbin orbit, up from ~3600 stock. Now try doing this with the vessel weight, part count and tech access limits imposed by career mode, and you'll very quickly notice this gets very hard. You have to build something that can land on the Mun and return in stock, just to fulfill the "Orbit Kerbin" contract. That means you need to upgrade the VAB and the launchpad both with funds earned just from suborbital contracts. And while you're doing that, your science income is stunted. Then when you can reliably get to orbit, you'll notice that all the contracts the game generates for you don't pay enough anymore because you suddenly need rockets two to three times as expensive for the same job... tourist contracts for example will simply leave you in the red until you can build rockets that can carry three to four contracts worth of tourists at once.

You gotta have to be very careful that this doesn't get excessively grindy, and higher scales rapidly exacerbate the problem. You might need to set money earnings above 100% to keep it playable, even though you're technically on a "hard mode" playthrough.

3.7 is about as high as I'm willing to go, really.

I absolutely get why RSS has its limitations for most styles of playing this game - which is the reason I like 64K so much. It scales the difficulty up by a handsome amount while still allowing a decent level of the stock "whackiness" that RSS shuts down for the most part. Career is indeed quite grindy and though to manage at first, but you can counteract it quite well with contract packs and strategies - or starting with more funds/science. Things like FAR and RF (make for an LKO dV of ~7500m/s) also help tremendously while adding some new facets into the mix. The cool thing is that you find yourself imitating RL designs in order to deal with the difficulty - instead of your bread and butter 100t-to-LKO SSTO you need Shuttles, instead of the 5-in-one munhopper used to max out the tech tree you are actually forced to do it Apollo style, bringing a rover with you at most - things like that. And OPM adds a whole new level of awesomeness to that... I could ramble the whole day about this, but in the end everyone will find the playstyle that suits themselves best :)

How do I scansat Hale and Ovok? Also how do I perform orbital surveys with a scanner? :D

I mean their SOI is so small that it's nearly impossible to get a good polar orbit without crashing in some 'hill' on the way and timewarp on such orbits is sooo slow. Has anyone come up with anything that might help here?

I don't think you need to be on the satellite to scan the body

just go to the space center and timewarp from there

It's not perfect but it saves some time

alternatively you may try tweaking the time warp limits for those moons, but at your own risk.

don't forget to back up your save when you do something foolish like timewarping 1e6 near a mountain ridge :D

Heads up, I've submitted this pull request (and it's been merged) that allows Kopernicus Body nodes to specify a cacheFile property, which is a GameData relative path to the PQS cache file.

So you should be able to do...

...and distribute the cache files inside the OPM folder. This should be in the next version (after 0.0.7) of Kopernicus. This should make the entire OPM installation a single folder. :)

As ModZero noted, it has to do something with the cache files. To use OPM with Kopernicus 0.0.8, copy the Tekto.bin file in Kopernicus/Cache from the OPM download into the Cache folder of Kopernicus 0.0.8. All other bin files can seemingly be generated by Kopernicus without issue, Tekto however is weirdly bugged. The black body issue still persists as well even though Kopernicus 0.0.7 fixed it on Moho - no idea why or how to go on about fixing it though.

A note though, the black body bug on Tekto and Moho are different. Moho is completely back and Tekto only turns black/dark when closing in on the surface. I think it has something to do with the oceans. With the tools offered by the new Kopernicus update I think I have a shot at making the oceans work right and thus perhaps fixing this problem.

There appears to be some glitch with the mod. If you accept the contract for the planet (i.e. Explore Sarnus), leaving mission control will delete the contract, making going to the planets useless for money/reputation. Hopefully the guys can fix this soon. ;.;

I'm working on completely updating OPM to the latest Kopernicus, which will make it much more stable. When that is out you should try this again, to see if it persists. Might fix it.

The stock orbital survey won't work with Hale and maybe Ovok, since they have very small SOIs (their size and closeness to Sarnus makes the SOI very small, even with relatively high gravity for moons their size). The new Kopernicus I believe has a method to artificially extend the SOI, so I'll try to get that working in the near future. It'll be less realistic, but it'll stop a lot of issues with scanning and/or orbiting these moons. And it might allow more realistic gravity.
