  1. This small change would make it tolerable for me. Simply scanning what's in the field of view of the satellite. Magically scanning all the planet instantly feels to artificial. edit: Also, if we're scanning the field of view of the satellite, orbital inclination shouldn't matter.
  2. It's not whether it's possible, it's whether it should be a contract at all.
  3. Turns out that space programs actually use planes as well as rockets. - - - Updated - - - So, they didn't learn from the "test launch clamps on the moon" contract debacle. Good to know.
  4. I'll believe it when I see it at this point. I changed my sig (the one Kegereneku posted above) because someone told me it would be in 1.0. OK. So he didn't say it'd be 1.0.
  5. Kerbal Engineer is the main must-have mod. Don't listen to the naysayers. A few others that should be stock are Kerbal Alarm Clock and Transfer Window Planner.
  6. I'm currently making an MM file for myself. Trying to decide how much fuel I'm comfortable with.
  7. This is really the only good thing about the tech tree "updates."
  8. So, I should resort to making unrealistic craft? No thanks. I'll just mod in wet wings. edit: I'm not talking bucket loads of fuel here. Just something reasonable. As an example, I was using FuelWings previously.
  9. How many planes actually store fuel in the fuselage? A cursory search shows wet wings to be common in planes of all sizes and I always believe the internet. Wet wings are common among most civilian designs, from large transport aircraft, such as airliners, to small general aviation aircraft. - The Internet With the new jet engine fuel flow rules, crossfeed enabler wouldn't even be necessary. Guess I'll have to rely on mods once more for my wet wings. Opinions? Thoughts?
  10. Lets not forgot about the technical marvel that is the ladder. My pilots currently use graceful acrobatics to exit my jet planes.
  11. Because people don't. There seems to be some inherent part of the human psyche that skips tutorials, doesn't read manuals, and refuses to look at maps when lost. Game designers have had to work around this issue by integrating tutorials into the flow of the game. - - - Updated - - - I like your ideas! ...but let the people choose: Planes or Rockets?
  12. Well. They did move a few things to little effect. At least it's not worse, I suppose.
  13. Crap. I think I need to return that box.
  14. I'm probably right below RobotEngineer with a bit more troll. Maybe 50% troll. When did this thread become about an awesome graph?
  15. I think this is a common sentiment. Oh, how many threads have been made about this.
  16. As far as procedural parts, is molding clay some how less creative than legos?
  17. I really hope that Squad doesn't think the solar panels are a "good enough" solution. We need actual radiators.
  18. I currently have 3 tourist contracts available to me. Each contract has 2 tourists. I only have 1 man pods. I have no probes.
  19. Honestly, I don't know if I can keep playing stock career. I know I said I would play through it, but... Ok. So here's my notes so far. Early career actually has a very nice reward system. Constantly breaking records really helps with a sense of achievement. Having to constantly test and revert to find appropriate TWR is annoying. Delta v and TWR readouts are really needed. The trial and error was only interesting the first few times. No patch conics and maneuver nodes actually makes it harder on new players, with only experienced players being able to accomplish more difficult goals. Running into artificial part limits inside a giant VAB breaks immersion. Not having larger 1.25m tanks raises the part count artificially. I have now orbited Kerbin and have unlocked one 45 science node. I have 3 tourist contracts available that all have 2 tourists. I only have 1 man pods. I have a test contract for the 2.5m decoupler when I don't have any 2.5m parts. I've hit a road block. I've needed to upgrade the astronaut complex, tracking station, VAB, and launch pad to continue which has limited my funds. I need 7 science for the next node. I have a plane but no ladder for my Kerbal to get down on the ground. So that's where I'm at right now. Not sure if I even want to continue. I'm glad some people find this fun, but I find it no different than when they introduced career. That being, no fun at all.
  20. I built my first plane and realized I don't have a ladder to EVA my Kerbal. How far am I from ladders? What? Why are they over there!?
