[Minimum KSP: 1.12.2] Heisenberg - Airships Part Pack
Angelo Kerman replied to Angelo Kerman's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I'm getting more than a little annoyed by people who demand perfect adherence to reality in my mods. If you don't like how things work, don't install the mod. Nobody is twisting your arm. Either make changes to suit your play style or move on. But coming here to complain that a mod doesn't fit your version of reality is just a cry for attention, and I'm no longer willing to entertain such behaviors. -

Yeah that's the plan. Minimum is to remodel the 3.75m and 2.5m tanks. Might have enough time to redo the 1.25m tanks but I'm kinda run down from doing 5 sets of tank textures.
-
The stripes need some weathering but.. Left to right: Stock tanks, DSEV's original 2.5m tanks, remodeled "Delta" tanks in orange and Delta tanks in white. Stripes reflect the Delta IV Heavy... You can texture switch between the two coloring options.

Me too! I met my goal of having the 3.75m tanks done before the 1.3.1 release, now I'm trying to get the 2.5m "Delta" tanks done. They're getting there... My Delta Heavy reference design is looking good IMO. Figuring out what to do with the striping on the long tanks, I kind of like the bare white look. Might add gold stripes though.

Wow! Two stars have now appeared in the night sky! I think I'd be freaking out too. Sort of reminds me of the end of 2010, when Jupiter lights up.. Also, that Dart reminds me of a passenger version of the A-10 Warthog.

[1.12.2] BARIS - Building A Rocket Isn't Simple
Angelo Kerman replied to Angelo Kerman's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
The best way to ensure that your probes don't fail is to uninstall BARIS. I have bent over backwards to address complaints and I am done. Moderators please lock the thread.- 571 replies

The Saga of Emiko Station - Complete
Angelo Kerman replied to Just Jim's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Lol, I remember watching that on NBC... -
I got more done on DSEV's 2.5m "Delta" fuel tank revamp: Based of course on the Delta IV Heavy. Here you can see the new texture switcher at work: the textures switch from orange to white.
-
Got more done tonight including detailing and the start of the white texture option...

[1.12.2] BARIS - Building A Rocket Isn't Simple
Angelo Kerman replied to Angelo Kerman's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
BARIS 1.3.0 is now available: MTBF - Deactivated parts will lose MTBF at a slower rate (default: 1/10th) than activated parts. Think hibernation mode... NOTE: the hibernating MTBF decay rate is varied per part. Deactivated engines lose MTBF slower than deactivated fuel tanks, for instance. Look at MM_BARIS.cfg for examples. Launch Escapes - Base chance to escape an exploding vehicle is now based on the kerbal with the highest Stupidity in the crew. Fuel Tanks - Additional MM patches for fuel tanks- thanks Hotaru! - Fuel tanks will make quality checks when the player locks or unlocks its resources. - Fuel tanks will make quality checks when a resource is emptied or filled to capacity. - Fuel tanks will be considered deactivated if all their resources are locked. - You can toggle the lock/unlock state of all resources in a tank using the new "Toggle Resource Locks" context menu button and Action Group button. Bug Fixes - Fixed bug where parts were losing MTBF faster than intended. - Fixed bug where some parts were allowed to break even when prevented from breaking.- 571 replies

[1.12.2] BARIS - Building A Rocket Isn't Simple
Angelo Kerman replied to Angelo Kerman's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I actually did that originally, but changed it so that you can fill the craft with crew. If you know of a way to fill the craft outside of the normal KSP screen, then I can do what you're suggesting. Technically static fires would benefit, yes. Of course, this is Kerbal, so you aren't restricted to testing just one engine or part at a time...- 571 replies

[1.12.2] BARIS - Building A Rocket Isn't Simple
Angelo Kerman replied to Angelo Kerman's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
The intent is for players to take the time to build up the part quality, either through flight experience, the Test Bench, or both. I don't expect players to be able to fly off into interplanetary space at the start; that's something you have to build up to. With the new changes, the more times you launch or test, the more reliable your parts will become. With the upcoming changes, where deactivated parts will lose MTBF slower than activated parts, I expect things to fail less often as well. Kermanned spacecraft have the advantage over unkermanned probes and can effect repairs; the real-world has very high reliability ratings for space probes, but in KSP, since we use the same parts for both kermanned and unkermanned vehicles, a high reliability will make the game boring. Thus, it's best to design redundancy in your probes and deactivate any part not in use. For long journeys, definitely put your vehicles into hibernation mode- turn off engines, RCS, SAS, drills, any ISRU converters, lock your fuel tanks, and so on. Your parts will not be added to the list of failure candidates if your vessel fails its reliability check. Additionally, in the next release, their MTBF values will degrade more slowly. Since I know that BARIS's default settings might not appeal to everyone, I expect players to change settings to suit their own play styles, either through the Difficulty settings, the Constants file, or both. If, after modifying settings in both places still doesn't work, then it's time to discuss things. If players can't be bothered to adjust settings to their play style and then complain, then they might as well be tilting at windmills. As for me, I added BARIS into an existing save, I do lots of static-fire testing, use the Test Bench, adjust the settings as needed, and fly both crewed and uncrewed vessels.- 571 replies

[1.12.2] BARIS - Building A Rocket Isn't Simple
Angelo Kerman replied to Angelo Kerman's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
The more I think about this *Sigh* We're just going around in circles now, so going forward: If you leave parts activated (engines ready to fire, RCS/SAS on, tanks unlocked), then they can wear down and break. If you want to survive interplanetary voyages, then deactivate your engines, turn off your SAS and RCS, lock your fuel tanks, etc. They won't be considered a failure candidate when checking to see what breaks. This is already in BARIS. It's the equivalent of what NASA does to put a deep space probe into a dormant state to conserve power, or putting a probe in the game into hibernation mode to reduce ElectricCharge use. De-activated parts will lose MTBF at a slower rate (1/10th normal) than activated parts- if they lost none at all, then the game would be too easy. There's a bug where parts are losing MTBF faster than they should; at default settings where checks are made 3 times per day, parts are losing 18 hours of MTBF per kerbal day instead of the intended 6. BARIS will watch for changes in fuel tank resources and make quality checks when resources are locked/unlocked. ModuleBreakableFueltank will gain an action group ability to lock/unlock all resources in the tank to make life a bit easier. Combine the above, and a locked tank, which normally lasts 600 hours, will last 6,000 hours- and that's not including the MTBF bonus you get from flight experience.- 571 replies

Oh no, the secret project is on hold while I catch up on my mods (BARIS set me back a few months). That's just an image I cleaned up in Imgur.

[1.12.2] BARIS - Building A Rocket Isn't Simple
Angelo Kerman replied to Angelo Kerman's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Mind if I bring those into the next BARIS update? I knew the patches I wrote wouldn't cover everything, but those should help. Some things planned for the next update- I'm waiting to see when 1.3.1 drops- If all the resources on a tank are locked then it won’t be considered active. Base chance to eject tied to highest stupidity level, overridden by constants file? Separate quality ratings from condition summary. Engine activated fix- appears to be listed as active even when just idling and not actually burning. Possibly some kind of Robonaut-like part for unkermanned repairs. It will be in Advanced Unmanned though. Looking forward to seeing how 1.2.7 affects your results.- 571 replies

My favorite is Duna White, it lets me replace the stock tanks in my games. Anyway, here are all three variants: The Duna line is done! Now on to the 2.5m "Delta" revamp... This picture is out of date but it mostly sums up what I have in mind for the 2.5m "Delta" tank revamp (called D4M in the picture):

kopernicus [WIP] Hioffpo Planetary System [Version 0.1]
Angelo Kerman replied to adsii1970's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
My experience with modding is that maintaining multiple versions of a mod is tedious and time consuming for a low rate of return. Best to keep up to date with the latest KSP and point users to older versions of the mod if they play an older version of KSP.- 38 replies
