Hi gang, Just noticed, after coming down to the mun for the first time in 0.25, that the textures have been updated/changed, I no longer see the pebbles/rocks, and kinda miss that, is it a setting that I've not turned on or just that those enhancements haven't yet been added back to the game? And... my poor kerbal, glad they seem to live forever, I had to bail him out as my mun lander ran out of fuel 1500 above the surface (had intended it to be a one way trip as a beginning base, etc) and he's all by himself now - no ship hehehe.

The difficulty settings seem to work well Squad - Nice!

Well, it can be easy to run out of $$$ IMO, you launch a mission, forget to add something like an antenna, and you can't revert. You may get it back but lose a major part of your investment in said ship. It only takes a few mistakes on hard to screw yourself down the road, but that is now my current appeal of it -
Anyone else not really care for the career stuff?
RW-1 replied to sedativechunk's topic in KSP1 Discussion
For me, I think I avoid Sandbox because if I can create a mission to Jool for example, and get there, it appears I don't get anything back (playing stock). The downside of career and especially now is that by the time I get to where I may have been pre-update, it's time for another But, I do think there is enough variation so that you can tailor it to your own playstyle etc. Right now I'm playing stock, hard, and it's amazing how many times I want to revert, and can't hehehe. -

Really enjoying this update, having to purchase in addition tolaying out science is great, and makes you think before you buy. I've set myself on hard, no adjustments, have a stranded kerbal in mun orbit, whom I'll recover later, and am gearing up for a mun landing now that I just acquired batt's to give me enough elec power to last through. Lot's to look at in the update though with management, etc. Awesome! -
I decided to run the patcher, but I don't think it cleaned up, or ensured ?I only got the right files, upon opening, I had just about two of everything in parts wise, in the VAB and Hangar. I just deleted, but sine I cant connect tot eh server to download I'll now have to wait a bit. NBD....

Thanks Squad! Oh boy, patching now, and looking forward to all the kewl stuff you guys added!

what? what? What ? There's an update coming you say? Get out! The excitement is palatable, I hope it lasts ... -
Obsession with .25, .26, updates.... Stop the madness!
RW-1 replied to xtoro's topic in Kerbal Network
Right on! These update threads are totally useless! You need to begin the real thread - The 1.0 Release ! Until now we have been on the cusp of greatness, but soon will transition to something greater than 0 on the left of the decimal. (look, this, plus the act of using KSP keeps most off the street anyways ...) -

A demolition man reference to combat a crysis statement - the cryosuit when put in a certain mode says "Maximum power" (Unless I had a moment and screwed it completely, in which case I'm at fault, it's been a really long day, and it isn't over yet.) -

Understanding navball yaw
RW-1 replied to GroovyMike's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Let's hold on for a moment there. When you start on the pad, WITHOUT having rotated your craft in the VAB beforehand, it is that way. But let's put it like this, you have N, 90, 180, 270, and if you ahve flown airfraft then you know what they corespond to. Your heading indicator at launch is straight up into the blue. Don't think left right, etc. move to the heading you want. I rotate my ships so that for an equatorial launch I don't have to "bank", but can just make a pitchover W, if I rotated the opposite way, it would be a pitchup. It can take a bit orienting to the FDAI .... too bad we don't have nav needles in addition to the ball itself, you could enable AP and fly the needles -

DPG, you are hearby fined five credits for violation of the Crysis suit quotes code.... CLOAK ENGAGED .... -
How about Strobes? (FTW)

I like doing the same thing as above, or the rover is a separate mission launched at same time as manned, with a Curiosity "skycrane" powered module, - descend to a hover and decouple rover and watch skycrane depart area (and seeing if it had enough juice to escape SOI or not hehehe).
-
Have nearly gone broke is smaller missions to mun and minimus, but have a probeship 4 years out from Jool, making decisions on what I can accomplish in the interim, or will succumb to warping ahead 3.5 years to begin that mission, so far the vote is to wait it out.
-
I play stock, will likely just start over, for the fun of it all, to see how much quicker (and maybe smarter this time around) I can get it all back before 0.26 (Official hypetrain begins now hits ...)

I thank the dev's for keeping us on our toes as another release approaches. Looking forward to 0.25 when it hits! -
Hello All, Please have a happy weekend (I shall, my daughter is turning nine on Monday - the pre-party count has been going since last monday ) and do not get ran over by the Hypetrain ... Ok, that out of the way, my question for discussion. Flags. Planted Flags specifically. Since the game has to keep track of objects in total, does keeping flags that one has planted later on contribute to the ability to time jump / use larger ships, etc? I'm asking because my observation is that if the game engine has to keep track of all of that, and let's include debris as well, then that adds up fairly quickly for the overall engine. If my supposition is incorrect, please let me know, as I'll be happier to remove flags only after finally hitting all the biomes on a specific planet/moon, etc.

I also think you can practice using the mun landing scenario, undock and move about to get used to it, then redock. Get in docking mode, spacebar to flip between translation and rotation, and make sure you have selected the other PORT as the target, not just the ship itself. (if near enough to ship you are going to dock to, right click the docking port and select as target.) Although you said you did it once, I'll say this anyways; ensure both docking ports are facing the correct way, it's happened to more than one person. Alignment is fairly important, but once close enough, the docking ports should attract and engage, I recommend turning off SAS just before or when you see that occurring. I learned docking on orbiter, but once you have the concepts of translation/rotation down and the mechanics involved, you'll get it, for KSP I only had to learn the instrument representations.

More Interesting Science?
RW-1 replied to Mart!an's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I'd like to see added science experiments/equipment, perhaps something to "analyze" soil samples that you take, Atmospheric analysis, etc. -
Could a modified space shuttle get to the moon?
RW-1 replied to FishInferno's topic in Science & Spaceflight
If one did get another full ET in orbit (or refuelled one taken all the way into orbit) and restarted the SSME's, what would the flight time be compared to Apollo? I was thinking in terms of a proposed mission time vs consumables and crew number. The shuttle could go for a week at least, so I believe that could cover it. -
4PM EST today, NASA will hold the announcement of the contractor for the Commercial Crew Program (LEO/Station Delivery Vehicle). We have front runners Boeing, SpaceX, and Sierra Nevada Corp. Wall St Journal is already saying Boeing will get it. My Thoughts, spaceX already has a contract for LC-39, and the Dragon has flown, just has to be man rated. Boeing - to me, I would hate this, I think while that would be the political choice, it would be "Business as usual" (Large Gov't contractor already), no cost cutting and lots of Pork for the personel involved (sorry). SpaceX and even SNC would be a welcome choice IMHO, new blood and ways of doing things. Let discussion commence ... We'll hear from Bolden at 4PM ...
