Launch window has been adjusted. The window now opens at 8:29pm ET and lasts 5 minutes. 5 minutes won't be enough if they need to scrub a first launch attempt less than 8 minutes away from launch. Source: https://twitter.com/ORBCOMM_Inc/status/678986636508688384

Yes...I simply can't stop laughing when I think of this

[1.7.2] KK Launchers - Delta, Atlas Pack
Kartoffelkuchen replied to Kartoffelkuchen's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Thank you! :)) Yeas, I didn't really have time for that. But it's my fault, I wanted to have it out before RTF from the day I started with it, so yeah (And it worked out, yay! )But it's really time for me to do play KSP "normally" again. ^^ -

[1.7.2] KK Launchers - Delta, Atlas Pack

@ReventonHawx Yes, the grid fins in real life are working a bit different than these here. First of, they deploy and then individually pivot up or down, where we can only deploy them (-> Airbrake) or leave all undeployed and then pivot them out. And yes, they also provide roll control. Though unfortunately, this can't be done in KSP right now, so I had to add simply a roll torque for it. Yes, I'll be waiting with F9 FT upgrades for my rocket a little while. I don't think that they are using any 1.1 hardware anymore on F9 FT. I believe they've made some changes to the landing legs, and tgey would definetely fly these on this mission, since it's their first RTLS attempt. I bet the landing legs will stay white, since the falcon on spacex.com is inly an artistic impression. The f9 1.1 was also shown with a black interstage there, so I wouldn't really trust the site renders. It's just a visualization. -
Soso. Landing is always a secondary goal, sure. This is the proof. Orbcomm must be very patient and also eager to see the booster landing to accept this. Maybe 10% increase in successful landing, but also increase in weather being worse than today, and we had perfect weather today. Well then

I've made a video about SpaceX's today's Orbcomm-2 mission. It is not 100% accurate but it provides a nice overview of the mission: @SQUAD Maybe something for video wednesday? :)))

Yes I know. When I made Falcon 9 1.1 FT, there were no images of it available. I've used spaceflight101.com as my main source for the FT, there it said that there were 4 attachment points. I will change this, along with some other changes. And generally, there's a bigger difference between F9 1.1 and 1.1 FT from the outside than I expected. I'll adjust F9 1.1 FT once more images will be relased. -
Seems like we have FAA approval for RTLS! Actually, we HAVE clearance from FAA for RTLS!
-
And remember, it's center of mass will be pretty low anyway. The wind would have to be really strong to make it fall over, so it's very unlikely I guess. And yeah, page 100!

Yes, seems to be so @Elthy @YoetoJoe nasa won't stream I guess, they have nothing to do with that mission. It will be streamed on apacex.com though as usual.
-
Seems like the people here in Germany can also watch the launch live on YouTube. They already "announced" the stream on YT.

[1.7.2] KK Launchers - Delta, Atlas Pack
Kartoffelkuchen replied to Kartoffelkuchen's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Great that everything seems to work now! Thank you, it was quite a bit of effort (I started on this 1 month and 5 days ago ). Delta IV next (with next I mean that I will start working on it now, though I guess it will take quite a bit of time to finish. But this time it will be released, not like the last time I worked on it). Will be working on Atlas V at the same time too. But first, I will take a little break from modelling stuff, and pick it up again in the new year. Creating the Falcon's was pretty intense. -

You need to download this plugin I unfortunately forgot to include it, it *fixes* the aerodynamic behaviour of the fairings, and you also need the Old School Fairings plugin, as it says in the OP. -

Kartoffelkuchen replied to Kartoffelkuchen's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
@mark7 FAR is not supported. At last I didn't test it with FAR. @sciencepanda just make a small MM-patch. I will link your strongback in the OP once you got it fitting nicely. And please, stay on topic now. -

Not included. Maybe I'll add it, maybe not. I will do a break now, enjoying actual playing KSP again. And doing other stuff. -

Yes. -
Also, the turbopump exhaust goes into the nozzle, while on merlin 1d it ends next to the nozzle. Check a youtube video of a falcon launch, and wait until the second stage kicks in.

Static fire should be right now. No launch on the 19th https://twitter.com/StephenClark1/status/677962578547613696
