My expectations are going down in a big ball of flames as I auger in at mach speed. Your thread title really does say it all.

I was expecting it to just continue forward but it looked like it yawed right. Maybe its just my old eyes but that wasnt what I expected. -

Born in 57, been watching spaceflight all my life. That was simply incredible. -
Magnets imbedded in the glasses hold them on to their metal filled heads like its magic.

I know the problem, communications protocol was set 8N1 when it should have been 7E2.

Is there anyone that is not anxious for the presentation tonight? Of course, there will then be the almost unbearable wait for it to fly. lol -

I would eat lunch up there! -
Not the worst really and like some others posted before. It is the one that sticks with me the most and has since served me well since as I plan much better now. But it was very early on in KSP and I had no experience really and I ran out of fuel just before I made the atmo. So, ya, I had to get out and push quite a few times but Jeb finally made it home. Rookies........sheesh! :)

I check on Boca Chica almost every day. I have no life! lol -
Been there, done that, got the T shirt and the hat. Would do it for KSP2 if I could. But if you have never done anything like this before , you better be prepared for the dedication required and the time involved, it is not all fun and games. My experience has been that most find out how hard and time consuming it really is and what little reward you get and they fade into obscurity. Be careful what you wish for.

Installed this yesterday on a 1.6 build with its dependencies and as near as I could tell, it was working. It certainly didnt mess up my save and I didnt see anything unusual going on. I didnt see any rings around Jool though but I havent actually flown out there either. So.......for what it is worth. Im not positive Scatterer is working perfectly but it is working to some degree and things are pretty again. I did launch and complete a couple of sat contracts while checking it out. YMMV!

Thank you for all you have done. Best of luck in your new future. Sorry to see you leave though.

Your scaring me. lol I sure hope I have enough to complete my mission. But, all it has to do is live long enough to finish the last burn. But you got me worried now.
-
I have currently underway a deep space sat mission going on. Out to almost Neidon. Im not sure what my outcome is going to be but I sent it out there with a RTG and no solar. It is going to be a long time before I find out what the results are. Here is a link to my sat mission. You might find something in there useful or interesting.

Most succesful launches in a single 24 period?
Kevin Kyle replied to Kevin Kyle's topic in Science & Spaceflight
1 down, 3 to go. No 5 today though since Blue Origin was delayed until Friday. Next up....Falcon. Oops, I guess its not next up since its laying flat on its back. Guess it is not going today either. So now its down to the Soyuz and Delta4. I was hoping to see something historical but I guess it will wait for another day. -
Most succesful launches in a single 24 period?
Kevin Kyle replied to Kevin Kyle's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Its possible, the last launch is at like 5:30 in the morning so if the other 4 go off tomorrow, it might still make 5 in a 24 hr period. Ya, I expect that Delta4 will get scrubbed too as well. So only India's launch might actually make it. Soyuz is already been scheduled for tomorrow. I expect New Glen and Falcon to do the same and probably Delta4 too. -

Falcon scrubbed just now too. Go figure. So its down to 2 flights -
It was just a simple sat contract .........
Kevin Kyle replied to Kevin Kyle's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
So I have decided to push the comm sat's orbit out to past Sarnus. Still have a fuel reserve after doing that. Only question is can I generate enough electricity that far out. I launched the Sat for the contract. I think I am all good and reaching the orbit is easy enough. So the short of it is yes, you can do sat contracts out this far. The long of it is, it is going to be a really long time before this one gets there. So, in conclusion, it isnt really worth doing in the long run except that the infrastructure needed for this contract will take care of most communication needs long into the future. The new comm sat orbit will take 9 yrs 219 days to reach its orbit and do a circularize burn to complete its journey. Obviously, the sat for the contract will be much longer reaching its orbit. Im certainly going to lose megabucks doing this project but other contracts keep the money flowing. Will I play this career out far enough to see this complete or fail? That is a good question. The way I play means that it night be a long time before I reach that point. In the end, I may have to accel time enough to get there just to find out if it all works as planned. The vast majority or players will likely never benefit from a contract like this one. So, if your not a long term player, just skip these contracts and move on. Will be interesting to see if this one actually works though and I hope to take this one top completion. Time will tell. -
Most succesful launches in a single 24 period?
Kevin Kyle replied to Kevin Kyle's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Well well, there may be 5 launches today after all. Although the Cali Launch is only 20% due to the weather. I didnt know about the New Glen launch today so that would make 5. The first launch should be coming up shortly. Errrrrrrrr.......back to 4 I guess because the Soyuz launch has been delayed until tomorrow due to upper level winds. It was pretty slim they would get 5 off today anyway. Bummer! -
Hi Kaptain , you just found your next addiction. Enjoy!

Most succesful launches in a single 24 period?
Kevin Kyle replied to Kevin Kyle's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Well, darn it. I guess the 5th one is isnt until the next morning after. So only 4 launches in 24 hours because I cant tell time apparently. Actually its in the evening of the following day. -
I was browsing the launch schedule and I noticed starting this Tuesday morning, 5 launches are scheduled in the next 24 hour period. That got me wondering and I of course did some searching with little results. But, if there is any one single place where this question might be easily answered, I bet it might be right here. I know there are many very knowledgeable people that browse this awesome forum. Of course I dont mean lesser flights and such or multisat launches like some of the amazing launches in the past. Single rocket launches the put something in orbit. Does anyone know the answer to that question? 5 seems like a lot for one day provided they all go off as scheduled. I hope to watch or follow them all if I can. Maybe a new record?

It was just a simple sat contract .........
Kevin Kyle replied to Kevin Kyle's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I am struggling to find a way to calculate the orbital period for the comm sats I am launching to support this mission and future missions. I was intending to put 3, maybe 4 comm sats into a 90,000,000 km orbit around Kerbol. That puts them between Jool and Sarnus. My rough calcs say that it is a 17.1 year orbital period and that for 3 sats I need to launch one every 5.7 years. Is that about right? Every 4.27 years if I go with 4 comm sats. Jool has an orbital period of 11.7 years if I read right so 17 years seems about right for that orbit. Never even considered doing a contract of this length before. I think I have 19 years to complete the actual sat contract and I bet it takes half that time just to reach the contract orbit if not longer. I think I am going to launch the contract sat right now and hope it all works out. Oh and where might I find a good collection of formula's for such things......KSP Wiki? Im sure Ive seen a page with such things in the past.
