KSP2 Release Notes

That will be about 2 years if it's a standard NDA.

The question is, do we want what an entirely new team would offer? It's one thing to have people come and go, the new people learn about the goals and intentions of the game from those that are on the team when they are hired. However in the case of an entirely new team, the end result may not be desirable. Infusions of new ideas are good, but replacing the whole team at once, not so much. Think of it like your skin. Skin cells multiply and old ones die off, but you are always covered in your skin because they don't all die off at the same time. This is a far cry different from losing all of your skin at once! Basically KSP has been skinned alive here. If a new team comes in they will be operating entirely on their own preconception with no input from older team members. I've seen this happen before, and the end result is usually not good for the players. If Squad chooses to hire a new team to work on the 'franchise' I would strongly urge them to begin work on KSP 2, not KSP 1.3.

I'm just glad we ended up with what seems to be a well working version. If this had happened after 1.1, I would have been incredibly sad.
-
I called it when they said they were going to release the assets. By releasing them, it sounded like they were not going to use them and PorkJet was no longer working for Squad. What I'm seeing in articles from news sites is that PorkJet was gone several weeks ago, even though his name was on the reddit post yesterday. What they released is only a 1.25m revamp, not the full thing. https://techraptor.net/content/kerbal-space-program-squad-quits

The parachute module was added to stock in 1.2
-
I think that ship has sailed along with the rocket part revamp I'm afraid.
-
Capcom still exists? That is interesting.

I wouldn't worry at all about MM, someone will pick that up and continue it if Sarbian decides to let it go. Remember, Sarbian didn't create MM.
-
I know you are joking but things in this thread are moving fast and furious and it's probably best not to confuse people
-
You don't need to source code to play KSP. Game development ends, most of them end the moment it is released or not long after if they have bug patches.
-
It's not going anywhere. It's not just going to disappear from your computer.
-
Basically, yes.
-
I wouldn't worry about 1.2 not getting a release. But I'm not counting on much of anything beyond that.
-
It wasn't Squad that announced it on Reddit. It was a former developer of Squad.
-
There was a forum post that disappeared. I briefly saw it, when I clicked on it, it was gone. Though it may have been the one that is there now and they decided to rewrite it or something.

I don't think there is a rule against discussing economics. I mean it might be a little off topic, but not even very much that.
-
Well, the Mexican economy is actually quite good right now. I won't say it's stellar or anything, but it's good.

Oh believe me I know, but they don't think they are bugs, so get used to them.
-
The bugs in pre-release are nearly gone now, don't be too concerned there. It's likely it could be released today, but they wanted an 'event'.
-
I wouldn't count on it.
-
Yeah, I think the Rocket Part Revamp just died right there @IronCretin
-
I have a bigger concern, and that is that some overeager higher ups will try to continue the development after the entire team leaves like this. I've seen it happen before, not just on games either. I'd almost rather 1.2 be the last. They can make KSP 2, but continuing development when the core team pulls out is usually disastrous.
-
I don't think it's potential is wasted. It's a wonderful game as it is, even if 1.2 were to end up being the last.
-
Sarbian just joined the team a few months ago. There is more than meets the eye here.
