  1. Kerbal miles... hmmm. Supposedly, the creators of the game used to cobble up creations with bottle rockets and called them "Kerbals", but maybe this is where THEY got the word from to begin with? And THIS was a GREAT reboot... too bad it didn't last.
  2. On Second thought, Münokhod 1
  3. < hates grinding. Hates RPGs for that reason.
  4. SPARTA (Lunokhod 1) Deep in the equatorial canyons scouting flat spots for future landings.
  5. http://sourcebox.federalproductions.com/KSP%20Logs%207-15-14%20A Are all the logs I could find, I'm not sure which applies when...
  6. Bug: When placed as shown below (my intent is to recover the Stayputnik after flight) I get the following: @T+0:46 the vehicle explodes without warning. I've been around and around, to the VAB, remove the chute, launch fine, to the VAB, install chute, launch failure, over and over. I'm using the .625 size and I place it on JUST the stayputnik then load the preset for "0.625 double main" One time I did go to load the preset on the fully assembled rocket, and it froze the game...
  7. Or compromise by using "spring return" momentary switches. I've done the other trick before, go down to the local thrift store, grab a USB keyboard for a buck and rip out it's guts. Keyboards use a "row and column" system so you have to match the right leads for what you want. I was thinking it would be a purpose built circuit, which I know some people do (at least in the Flight Sim community), but those are ususally for both switches and rotary controls. I made one of those, but I gutted and old USB joystick for the buttons and axes.... (I still say it needs some of this on it) http://bit.ly/1wqEFNy
  8. I guess it doesn't matter since the scale of the Korbol system is smaller and we want to have the LANDING on the same day, but "Liftoff" was 45 years ago tomorrow, the 16th, @ 13:32 Zulu. http://history.nasa.gov/SP-4029/Apollo_11i_Timeline.htm
  9. 626 comes from experiment 626 in Lilo and Stitch.
  10. Thank for the props. I thought spacecraft exchange was for trading .craft files.... Sorry bout that. :-P
  11. Two things, one you need some yellow and black stipend tape somewhere on it! Two, what are you using for USB encoding? I'm quite familiar with analog electronics, bit I've never tried to interface with a USB bus before...
  12. Made with stock parts, KW Rocketry, and Procedural Fairings.
  13. This was my answer, since I didn't have 5m parts but did have KW Rocketry parts, I opted for a Saturn V / Semyorka 7 mashup... I call it, the Eeloo VII
  14. I use either a drill press, or I disassemble it and physically gore all the platters.
  15. No, I'm with you. Kind of a forest gump character, but manic.
  16. I happen to be enjoying the systems sans cash, I am hoping its an option for career mode at the very least. That being said I wish I had a Nicole for ever time my save games have been lost on updates of RELEASED (if not alpha nor beta versions) of other games, so....
  17. Thanks! I guess I may have to just go for it and try to figure it out. I'm happy with everything else, but those helmet less kerbals just look so damn cool to me.... I sure rather have that stock then the impending monitary system....:-(
  18. Thanks! To me they look like their right out of the 1960s!
  19. Also very nice. Figuring out ways to build what you want is at least half the fun of this game! BTW... Is it me or could the 2 man capsule use a bit more buoyancy?
  20. Some shots from our space program: Tech note: These were made by Aiming a Lazor Cam and taking a screenshot Cropping the screenshot down to be ONLY the Lazor Cam window Encoding it with an SSTV encoder Mixing the resulting audio file with radio interference and noise Decoding the image with and SSTV decoder Yeah - I'm that much of a geek....
  21. I'm conservative about adding mods, but it looks good and I'll keep it in mind. Might be worth mentioning, the capsule as shown still needs a tapered adapter to fit the next size up stock parts. It stays attached to the final stage of my launcher and so it isn't shown.
  22. Dunno if anyone else has done this, but for those who wanted this 2 man to be more "Gemini", here's what I managed with Procedural Fairings: The aft section contains RCS tanks, a Fuel tank, 3 rocket engines, a battery, and a Mechjeb. The nose cone has a Jr docking port, RealChute parachute, and there are 4 single point RCS motors at 45 degree angles fore and aft.
  23. Having fun doing the campaign missions from the wiki. I used the name Janus rather then Kerminai, because, well I can't follow the instructions exactly? That would be very not Kerbal! I also corrected the number (edited the Wiki too) because it was Gemini VIII that had Neil and the faulty RCS that spun out of control, not IX. Anywho, I had a "Real life" experience eerily similar... Since Neil used a computer, I did too, using MechJeb to perform the rendezvous and docking. First issue was the rendezvous, where for some reason I shot past the target vehicle at considerable speed. Then the RCS went dead, leaving me drifting and spinning, I had Jeb override the autopilot, but all controls were unresponsive. No RCS, no main engine thrust, nothing. Then just as mysteriously, all control returned. So, I manually altered course to return to the target vehicle. As I got close I triggered the docking autopilot and the thing went a bit wonky. At first it was violently oscilating back and forth. Just as I was about to abort the AP, it settled down, so I "rode it out". As it neared the end, I realized I was off target by a bit (this was my first time using the docking AP, I usually do it manually, so I wasn't sure what was "normal behavior"). Moments later I hit the target vehicle, sending tumbling away. Only then did I realize I had no mono-propellant left.... I must have used it up doing the jitterbug on approach. At this point I had Jeb execute an emergency deorbit burn and landing... He survived. All in all, an all too realistic Gemini 8 Mission in KSP.
