Ok, I made it. (NOTE: Stock Aerodynamics) Using the "Kerbodyne Benchmark" (Thank you Wanderfound!) I was able to get to orbit, 94km x 143km (I goofed on the circulization burn), and return. I EVAed once in a stable orbit and the "Flight Results" show that was at T+12:26. Not only that but because I derped the reentry I was about 1/4 of the way around Kerbin west of the KSC when I was around around 15-20km in altitude. So I was ALSO able to fly the distance to KSC, clear the "Mountains of Doom"ÂÂtm and land neatly at KSC all by hand. So, it's something in my process I'm sure. I will say, I did at least 3 flat spins transitioning to/from atmo flying... and IMHO the Kerbodyne Benchmark has WAY too much pitch authority (even banking slightly results in pitching up), and is real twitchy about pitch when unpowered/low powered. What? What are you talking about? Yes I use this mod (tho I am new to it). Go back to my previous (first) post and you'll see I was asking for advice about how to achieve orbit, that Bomoo posted that as a reply, and that I was asking a followup question about the craft he/she built.

That's close to what I built but couldn't get to orbit without LV-Ns. What are the fuselage parts there? I see the Aerospikes, the Bi-coupler, the Mk2 LFO full size tank, then... Cargo bay? and Docking port? is that the Mk2 cockpit or....???

How do you guys get these things into orbit!?!?! I built similar ones, starting with one that looked like the one in the op, and *if* I get to orbit its barely and I can't get back down... 98% of the time I get a suborbital trajectory without enough Dv to circularize at 80 km. Are you clipping fuel tanks or what O_o? The only one I got to orbit had 2 rapier and 2 lv-n engines, and it took almost all the fuel just to get to orbit. I have enough to deorbit, but I won't have enough to do a powered landing I fear.

TG626 came from my days as a Virtual Airline Pilot for Thai Airlines - All pilots had a TGXXX code number, I had just seen "Lilo and Stitch" recently and so I picked Stitch's "number" (he was experiment 626). I've used the code numerous places in the years since as it's almost guaranteed not be already used Previously I have been "frogpipe", "Volke", "JoyCrusher", "Yorokobi Assaiki", and "That ......." The latter because it would result in things like "That ....... has become more powerful then you could ever imagine" and "You were made one with the force by That ......." when playing DFII: Jedi Knight Waaaaaaaaaaaay back in the day... Ah, censorship... "......." = the proper term for an illegitimate child.

For me he was OK to a degree, but emblematic of a larger issue with TNG, children and non com families on the "front line". Now if the big E was, as one night expect of the federation flagship, solely doing diplomatic runs well within the federation I could swallow it. But that wouldn't make for a good show, so instead you've got four year olds getting fragged by every bumpy headed aggressor in the galaxy....not all of Gene's ideas were good ones. *dons nomex*

Return of the Hell Kraken Upon exiting the highest warp and switching to another vessel, the Kraken strikes. I've tried "Exit Warp" and "Pause Game" with the same results... Using X32 version. -
Thanks for the compliments. Yes, the burn times can be incredible with a TWR of 0.04 to start off O_O But the original design was built to *resemble* the proposal by Von Braun without consideration of the performance of the LV-N vs the hypothetical NERVA engine he based his design on, so I have no doubt it's just about the WORST way to get to Duna and Back Burn times so far have been in the 30-60min range, and the #^&$* docking bug reared it's ugly head so I had to do some hand editing of the save file (thank god they are TEXT and I have Notepad++) Right now, Jeb, Bob, Bill, and KrakenFodder #1 and#2 are headed to Duna while the "Kerbin Escape Stages" are coupled together and doing a Circulization burn to get back into HKO (projected orbit will be around 64,113,100m, well beyond Minmus for now)

I got MMSSTV (http://hamsoft.ca/pages/mmsstv.php), and Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) then I: Take Screen Shot Load Screen Shot into MMSSTV Open Audacity Set Audacity to Record Use MMSSTV to encode the screenshot Open a second track in Audacity of various "Radio Static". Playback the two tracks, observing the "output" in MMSSTV (MMSSTV "listens" for SSTV signals, so when it hears it in playback it decodes it in realtime) Fiddle with the mix and so forth until I get the "distortion" I want. Save the resulting image from MMSSTV Upload to Imgur.

This is the beast, and yes it has a VERY low TWR. But, hey, what the Kerbal! Right? I am presently raising it's Appo so I can do a short escape burn when the launch window opens in about 2 kerbal weeks. MechJeb, "Prograde" on Smart A.S.S., and hit the throttle will track the prograde marker. http://alexmoon.github.io/ksp/ can cal the window, as can Kerbal Alarm Clock. Biggest issue is knowing X m/s= Y mins, which at the moment works out to *about* 200m/s Dv= 10 Minutes burn time.

Interesting thing I'm discovering is that I have to leave LKO in steps. One single burn has so much Dv that the burn time is longer then a single orbit, which causes the craft to crash into Kerbin O_O...
