What about Michael Collins? He never even landed on the moon in the first place, just was in the command module (Though, one has to admit, being in space in the first place is pretty amazing, let alone in orbit around the freakin' moon) Of course, he had all that time to himself, that's pretty good, too.

Kerbal Stuff has modpacks, but they're so rarely used I doubt it'll be easy to find any, and I have no idea if they even work.
-
Sounds interesting, as long as it's (as said above), multiple missions, and not just the one. A space program in your pocket, I like the idea.
-
That was hilarious. "You're a liar and a coward and a- oof" Common sense dictates you shouldn't follow someone who landed on the moon/U.S airforce command pilot, and yell at em for 3 minutes. That's not a good idea. Also, you called him a coward, what did you expect would happen? EDIT: If anyone is curious, video:

How do I embed an imgur album in a forum post?.
Norpo replied to Brainlord Mesomorph's topic in Kerbal Network
Hm, I must of forgotten how, i'll look at some old posts and see if I can figure it out. And no, defenitely not, I was complaining that the 5 character limit was activated even though it was more than that, not you. test: [imgur=eUc63][/imgur] EDIT: I figured it out! results in: (and eUc63 is just the imgur code) -
-Note, I am not *exactly* a game developer- Bugfixing and balance. Yes. THIS. A lot of the game needs some patching up, mainly memory leaks from the tweakable menus, (I doubt it could be easy, but possibly the Hell Kraken), and balance, for sure. The rockomax 48-4S or whatever it's called (the small orange engine) is just really overpowered (low mass means ridiculously high TWR and it's isp is good to boot, high delta-v for just about any small craft) I recommend putting more features in 1.1, though, but with an equal balance of features and extra polish, but a few extra features might get people excited and realize that the game is constantly being updated

[imgur=(albumcode Remember to take out the #0)] 5chars because it was whiny Example: [imgur=eUc63] yields: [imgur=eUc63] Also, if you're wondering how I got the tag to show up without making it actually happen, I used NOPARSE EDIT: It's not working, but you should get the idea, it should pop up an imgur album -
I wouldn't say it's really a nation-building game in the sense of some of these others, but Civ 5 is a great strategy game, and since I play it singleplayer, "I didn't like his attitude" is a perfectly legitimate reason for going to war. Yes, i'm looking at you, Darius the first. "I am Darius the first, king of Persia, great and magnificent! But of course you already knew that." You think you're all that with your country, but then one of your neighbors says "maybe he's not so great" and then suddenly you're attacked by someone with riflemen and you only have spearmen then you run but then my rocket artillery bomb you and suddenly i win ...Also, in that entire game, I think I was the only one who was friendly to Rome. Seriously, why did everyone hate rome? I arrive at the other continent and I see rome's cities surrounded and being sacked. Meanwhile, the Iroquois, my only other ally, asked me to denounce rome. Naturally I said no, but then they denounced me.. Didn't matter anyways, because I was already invading Portugal since they were the only other real competitor to my greatness, and I won. As you can see, it's strangely satisfying to talk about your latest Civilization 5 game. It'll do that to ya.

Whackjob wrote a steam review, and I think it captures the essence of KSP fairly well.
-
So, it's out now. What do people think (if they have it?) It's defenitely more of a casual game than the Civilization series, but it's alright for what it is in my opinion.

[11/26/15 Update] Say Hello to the Light-Green Group!
Norpo replied to Endersmens's topic in Kerbal Network
"Norpo: Giant Engine Guy" Probably the most noteworthy thing I've done on the forums (though saying it even compares to bigger mods would be ludicrious) -
Geez, I can just smell the rocket fuel at the end.
-
Or, summed up simply: Title text: What do you want me to do? LEAVE? Then they'll keep being wrong! EDIT: yadda yadda xkcd comic legal attribution blah blah Randall Munroe

Just by looking at the numbers, there are about 3x as many people looking at Add-on Releases than there are online registered members, so i'd say yes. A quick look through the forums logged out says no, aside from the obvious needing an account to post.

And magical control surfaces and wings? Of course, to the Kerbals, that will be fixed in Universe Patch 1.0. And kerbals treat the developers as divine gods, obviously.

I see no picture.

Use more Gender-neutral Language
Norpo replied to amorymeltzer's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
True, crewed is species-neutral, which makes it more proper. Really, I think it comes down to this: Manned is more common in the spaceflight field, (and possibly in general) Crewed is the "correct" term, which applies to Kerbals (not being human) Perhaps we should re-name this thread "Use more species-neutral language?" There are arguments for both, one being that for "manned" is used more often (and perhaps recognized easier), and crewed being the "right" word. From there it really goes down to taste. -
Use more Gender-neutral Language
Norpo replied to amorymeltzer's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Now, i'm going to do away with the argument that kerbals aren't human, which is perfectly valid but too dang confusing. Would you consider this a "manned" boat? I'd say you might if it was in the water and maybe wearing a captains hat and paddling in the water, even though that's a freakin' CAT. "Manned" is an english term for: and I quote: "Transporting, operated by, or performed by a human or humans: a manned spacecraft; several manned lunar landings." mild misuse of words is common in the english language, mainly for clarity. Now, we could say "crewed", but that's a "group of persons involved in a particular kind of work or working together". No good! While "person" could definitely be assigned to Kerbals, it couldn't be assigned to a cat. Also, would it be a group of one? It gets confusing. "Womanned" isn't a word. Therefore, I submit that "manned" IS the gender-neutral term. Manned DOES have a gender-specific definition, but it doesn't really apply here, at all. It's "(Military) supplied or equipped with men, esp soldiers". I don't think kerbals are military, or soldiers. Unless you're writing some fan-fic, you really don't have to care. English is a weird language. Odd phrasing in the game isn't just limited to this, it's present everywhere in the game. "Cubic Octagonal Strut" It's, uh, cubic? And octagonal? At least "manned" is in usage enough, and has a definition that it makes sense. According to dictionary.com, "manned" is in more common usage than "crewed". Also, in space-flight, the wikipedia page on human spaceflight uses the word "crewed" twice, and "manned" a whopping 10 times. "NASA and ESA use the term "human spaceflight" to refer to their programs of launching people into space. These endeavors have also been referred to as "manned space missions." -New signature quote, for sure. As far as I can tell, "manned" is more used in spaceflight, while "crewed" is used more generally (but less common) Both have reasons to use them, none seem really important. Both are valid, perhaps equally so. EDIT: Also, this discussion isn't limited to KSP, apparently. Look at the wikipedia talk page on human spaceflight. -
