What is the avatar of the person above you saying/thinking?
Norpo replied to Gojira's topic in Forum Games!
Oooh, pretty lights. -
Messed with Blender and Unity all day to try to get a wooden block fuel tank into KSP. AND IT WORKED! ..sort of, the green node points were all off, but I can fix that with cfg editing, the hard part of 3D modelling, UV mapping and all that jazz is DONE. DONE! Just gotta mess with cfgs and it'll be an actual part edit: holy crud this thread has a million views

They scrapped the barns for .90 because they looked... off ...They ARE redoing the textures though, and I think they plan to add new tier 1 buildings that look nicer (if they'll be based on the barn again I have no idea)

French toast, (regular) bacon, with real maple syrup. (Canada, eh?) I hear nice maple syrup is nigh impossible to get down in the lower parts of the U.S. Waffles are nice, but if you cut them too small you lose the "that one bite with a ton of butter and syrup" effect. Cut them too large and you'll regret taking that bite. Meanwhile, french toast just absorbs everything, so you don't have to worry about all that. Advantage, french toast.

KSP 0.90 'Beta Than Ever' Grand Discussion Thread!
Norpo replied to KasperVld's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Just played, computer overheated and crashed. AWESOME! (to clarify, it's nothing to do with the update, my computers been having heat problems lately) Initial thoughts: whoaaa upgradable buildings are cool whoaaa the scenes actually change with different upgrade levels whoaaa editor gizmos whoaaa kerbal engineer without a TWR and delta-V readout whoaaa SPACE. I actually like the dull cyan and dirt launchpad/runway scheme for tier one buildings -
Banned because there's a last page button. (really, a long thread shouldn't be an issue, speaking from experience most forums prefer having a long thread to having two smaller threads)

It can download the latest update to all your favourite games! (woo)

KSP 0.90 'Beta Than Ever' Grand Discussion Thread!
Norpo replied to KasperVld's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Gonna be downloaded in 2 hours or so from steam, can't wait! (I have a feeling i'm gonna like the spaceplane parts ) -
Made my first ksp part mod (really just a cube I made in blender) It took me hours, and the texture isn't showing up, and for some reason it isn't treating it as a fuel tank like it should, but I actually made it so I can click and drag it, as, y'know, a part. Took me a while to figure out it was because I did the mesh collider wrong. Best. Mod. Ever. (it needs a name, is useless small cube that weighs a ton taken?)

I wonder how small one could make it with the game still being playable? (not including balance, of course it's going to be imbalanced as hail) 1%? 0.1%? What's the "you can make a rocket that's the size of the planet if you try hard enough" limit? This begs further research!

This is why I keep getting turned off of KSP.
Norpo replied to moeburn's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Hold down Alt while you're trying to connect the parts linerally instead of radially. It'll make it so it can ONLY connect to the green node. If that fails, try to connect the green blobs, not just the parts. Don't look straight on at a part while trying to connect it, it'll just connect it to the part instead of the node. Also, another person suggested this: "I find that, in addition to the ALT key, it's easier to node-attach one piece to the back of the other by rotating the camera 90 degrees and just lining up the ends of the parts. (Basically, go at it from the side instead of the end.)" I do this and it works fine; you're looking straight ahead instead of at the side, like most people do. Looking straight at the part just causes that problem. The reason you have to do this is because the mouse can only move in 2D, so it has to take a few shortcuts. EDIT: I made an imgur album showcasing what I mean by "attach the green nodes". Remember, look at the green nodes, NOT the actual jet tanks. Of course, this is for normal connections, radial connections go ontop of other tanks, as opposed to attached using the green nodes. -
Abhorrent usage of English in private sector missions/contracts
Norpo replied to THX1138's topic in The Lounge
This sums it up, the actual body of the contracts explains the contract itself, everything else is just flavour text that can be improved later on in development. Basically, it's easier to get a computer to write Engrish as opposed to English , i'd rather the devs work on something important, like new parts and features, as opposed to spend a week on trying to figure out how to make randomly generated contract explanations, that are already explained nicely in the actual body of the contract. (note typo) -
Ask a stupid question, Get a stupid answer back.

By downloading the internet. How do I avoid bad puns, and know when people are about to make them? -
A train? (look out for them, otherwise, y'know, you might get run over)

The "Pull as many Gees as you can" challenge
Norpo replied to Norpo's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Hm, it is? I have to go soon; but I suppose that makes sense, i'll use that instead EDIT: I did some testing, and it seems somewhat accurate, so i'll just accept entries using either one. The seismic accelerometer seems to place it to more decimal places, which is nice, but since most entries (I assume) will be around at least 40 (in this game apparently it's not too hard to get gees). If anyone wants to post using the accellerometer as a baseline, they can for more accurate results. -
The "Pull as many Gees as you can" challenge
Norpo replied to Norpo's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Example entry: Unmanned, survived at the end. (the picture at the end is of the craft after the whole event, oops) No mods, probably some infinigliding, but no cheats other than that. 178.2 Gees. Done by loop-de-looping while burning some of my fuel to raise myself higher so I didn't crash. -
The "Pull as many Gees as you can" challenge
Norpo posted a topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
"Take a ride into... The danger zone!" *guitar solo* The goal of the challenge is to get as many gee forces as you can, based on the f3 flightlog at the end, or the seismic accelerator science part. Points will be determined by how many gee forces you got. There will be numerous different leaderboards, with slightly different rules for each one (Don't worry glitch exploiters, there's one for you!) The base rules, i'm pretty lax about them, if something is in doubt i'll add you to the leaderboard anyways, but with a red * at the end. If you REALLY want a clarification, you can private message me, or post in the thread. Things I want for a valid entry: screenshots of: your vehicle at the runway/launchpad and the top gee forces, or the gee force you want to enter. Basically any method is acceptable. ...that's it, I don't need to see your method. However, including it would add a lot, so please do. The leader boards: Cheating: Basically, hyperedit, going through Jool, decoupler ridiculousness or infinite fuel ARE ALL ALLOWED in this leaderboard. Go crazy! Non-Cheating: No infinite fuel, no hyperedit, nothing cheaty (Infiniglide is a grey area however, i'll add you anyways, i'll just note it in the leaderboard.) Modified: Part mods, FAR, DRE, note what mods you're using. There isn't a seperate category for "Cheating" modified and "Non-Cheating" modified. Things like KER, kerbal alarm clock, Precise-node, mods that don't change anything, don't count. Cheating will get you a "Cheating" modifier in this section, though. ...Things to include that will be added as detail with your entry are... Mods that DO affect things like atmosphere, etc. Please list most of them off, if you're not using parts in a craft but you have the mod installed, it doesn't matter. Things like FAR, that change atmospheres DO, however. Unique details. Did you go interplanetary to pull Gee forces in the atmosphere of Jool, did you boat in Laythe, or sling around Tylo? If so, list em all here. All entries will be assumed to take place entirely in Kerbin's SOI otherwise. Manned, or Unmanned? Unmanned let's you build smaller craft, so it should be denoted if you're going manned or unmanned. Did you survive? This is a big one. Did you burn to a crisp reentering the atmosphere? Did you crash after that loop-de-loop in your plane? Without further ado, the entries. CHEATING 1. Example: Bill Kerman: 300 Gees: used hyperedit to go EXTREMELY FAST through Kerbin's atmosphere. Manned. Crashed at the end. 2. 3. NON-CHEATING 1. Example: Jebediah Kerman: 40 Gees 2. 3. MODIFIED 1. cantab: 335.792 Gees, near future technologies, manned, survived. Went from Jool, to retrograde solar orbit and aerocaptured in Kerbin. (Recorded by KER) 2. 3. (all entries will get a place in the leaderboard, assuming they pull 5 gees or more, so that 1 part capsules don't count as valid entries) TL;DR: Make a vehicle that can get a lot of Gee Forces. Post two or more screenshots, one of the vehicle in the VAB/SPH, or on the runway or launchpad, and one of your gee forces. Basically any method is acceptable, like KER, the in-game science part, and the flight log. (There was a challenge like this, but it got 1 reply and it only applied to reentry and the rules were really vague. It was also in 2013, so there was that.) If you have ANY suggestions, or clarifications to add, please let me know. -
Granted, but the method involves a bobsled on a slippery track system. With rockets. It's extremely dangerous, and it takes up a lot of room. (it could be one heck of a roller coaster ride before you pull 20 Gs and die though) I wish that when I was sick, I would be smart enough to not leave napkins everywhere...

Minimalistic, I do what I can with what I really need. Also, I try to keep part-counts down, anything above 280 parts starts to slow the game down for me. Sadly, this means making crafts that actually look nice is really hard, so most of my crafts just look like a tank with a capsule and a nuclear engine attached.
-
Granted. Now the saying "don't argue with an idiot. they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experiencence." takes on a whole new meaning. Especially if said idiot has the hammer of knowledge. I wish the plus key on my keyboard numpad wasn't about to fall off.

Why have I never thought of the kerbal world this way? ...An interesting hidden feature would be if, a kerbal spends time around Bop (official home of the Kraken), it's courage decreases.. And it's stupidity rises.. ...The kraken madness has SPOKEN.
