  1. I haven't edited the settings file. The craft file is something I downloaded but that's irrelevant, right? In this particular case, the game is Sandbox so the tracking centre level should be maximum, right? I saved and closed the game last night and opened and loaded the save today and it's showing the trajectory as expected. It's another one of those glitches that come and go, I guess.
  2. Have you tried waiting? I've had a fair few freezes and in the majority of cases if I alt + tab out and come back a minute later, it's unfrozen. I'm not saying it doesn't need fixing but you don't need to force quit and waste your effort in the interim. Incidentally, does anyone else feel KSP not really ready to be declared 1.0 yet? I think there's still too many obvious missing features and program issues.
  3. There's no need to berate the OP! The clear solution is for him to download other people's craft files and fly them on fun missions. Like this Apollo-style Saturn V craft which you can fly and land on the moon and return to Kerbin. Don't bother with the Career mode and science collecting. Fly missions that other people have posted (complete with craft files) to the forum.
  4. I support the inclusion of reaction wheel saturation limits. I'm not sure there should be magical slow desaturation though.
  5. Who cares about ISP when the fuel is that cheap? All that matters is the 650 thrust you're getting for ~79 seconds. Carbon emissions aren't factored in. I wasn't suggesting the final stages should be SRBs, just the lifting stages. That's the thing - you do have to discard the engines in early stages. Also, the decouplers aren't such a big deal if you attach multiple boosters directly to each other instead of to their own decouplers.
  6. Why asparagus liquid fuel engines and not use cheaper solid boosters instead?
  7. Normally map view shows my altered trajectory following a Mun encounter but right now it's terminated after Mun escape. Any idea why?
  8. I don't suppose there's a documented flight plan to get this to the Mun and back using only IVA?
  9. When I launch a vehicle capable of quick and controlled turning, I'll usually keep it oriented vertically until past 15 km and sometimes even past 20 km. Why do people seem to recommend turning much earlier (as early as 8-10 km)?
  10. What seems to be the original flight plan is here with more information than you could possibly want to know! I don't know how well is translates to KSP though. It's too complicated for me.
  11. It would be quite a feat to rescue the ship itself though. Saving the kerbals is one thing but hovering above the ship while you grab with a claw would be beyond my capability. - - - Updated - - - I wonder if the science will be present in the ship once transferred to the landing pad. I can't imagine it will disappear.
  12. Indeed, it's kind of pointless since I always just revert to VAB to fix the problem (I'd have been bankrupted long ago otherwise) but I wanted to use one anyway.
  13. Are you meant to attach it with a port or decoupler so you can decouple it in orbit when it's no longer required? Shouldn't it include its own built-in decoupler?
  14. Has this project been cancelled? I'm not suitable for any of the roles (maybe as the pilot except I might have measles and therefore the back-up pilot has to take my place ) but it interests me nonetheless.
  15. A contact indicator light so you know when you've touched down without exiting IVA (which is cheating!).
  16. I've never had to do this for a landed vehicle before so I don't know if it works the same. For a vehicle in orbit, what I did was edit the save file to swap a corrected vehicle which I placed on the launch pad prior to saving into the place of the orbiting vehicle. I'd be afraid that doing this for a landed vehicle might collide it into the ground but you can try it. Make a copy of the save first and then find your vessels by name.

  19. I can't figure out how to get a kerbal into the EAS-1 of the terrestrial buggy I made. I don't really want to have him inside a pod.
  20. Has anyone walked around the KSC and found anything interesting?
  21. I already accepted a contract to eject a class E asteroid from solar orbit! I've sent three crafts full of fail so far.
