4 days ago it hit 36C here (central Britain) at about 6pm, 60% relative humidity, according to my weather station at home. When the air itself is hotter than your tongue it gets pretty damn uncomfortable. And for an added bonus the buses on my route to work and back do NOT have air con. Imagine a small, cramped tin box driving around in the blazing sun all day with only 3 openable windows and 33 people on board all moaning, sweating profusely and nearly passing out. My phone told me it was 46C and 90% inside the vehicle (on the shady side!). When I stepped off the bus and took an icy cold breath of 36 degree Celsius air I felt genuine relief. Britain is not prepared for this kind of weather. I fear that the Earth is on a decaying orbit. But at least it wasn't as bad as the now legendary "Heatwave of '76" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1976_United_Kingdom_heat_wave

Contract difficulty curve -- may need a slight tweak...
wossname replied to wossname's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Success! I was right about the wreck being a MK1 command pod. I managed to build a funky looking and probably not very efficient rocket... http://imgur.com/a/MqeGN Alas I had misjudged the height of a MK1 and ended up having to literally get Doson to kick the pod into the claw (this took 20 or so attempts, with frustration increasing exponentially). A high speed ballistic Kerbal can knock a MK1 pod quite hard and I finally got it hooked up! A handy tip learned in this mission... Airbrakes are terrifically resilient to re-entry and being used as a jack to lift heavy spaceships off the ground (great for takeoffs from low gravity moons). -
Val can survive in space with an open spacehelmet*. That gets my vote. *(see 2nd main menu screen)

Contract difficulty curve -- may need a slight tweak...
wossname replied to wossname's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Yeah fully stock. I'm going to have a go at this mission today, might be a long day -
So I've just been happily rewarded for completing the "test LV-909 on the launchpad" contract and I go back to grab another contract and I then take a few rescue X Kerman from low Kerbin orbit (because I love those). Except, oops, I didn't read the last contract text before I accepted it. "Rescue Doson Kerman, who is stranded on the surface of Ike with valuable data. Return him and what is left of his vessel to Kerbin." It's way too expensive to turn it down now I'm stuck with it. No idea yet how I'm going to achieve this. I suspect it will involve some kind of upside down lander with lots of RCS and a Klaw on the front and some kind of Apollo 11 style orbital rendezvous flight plan. I love that KSP has thrown me this massive challenge out of the blue, can't wait to get underway! Hehe, on the bright side I've got 24 years to complete this and it appears (from the data given about the craft) that it's probably a mk1 command pod I've got to evac back to Kerbin. 600,000 cash and 14 rep points reward.

And they say romance is dead.

Orcs... in... spaaaaace. Just don't suggest this to Peter Jackson.

Stupid things you noticed too late in a Mission

STOP HIM! He's stealing the secret prototype!!! -
How did you... I mean, with... and the... but... HUH? Seriously, how did you assemble something so ... substantial? This must be 2x the height of the VAB. Just how?
-
I'll fix this for you if you give me an Ike lander that doesn't need a hundred billion tons of fuel to get there and back with a living occupant. *cries of anguish*

This is really neat. Having that perspective effect actually makes this rather unique. I don't think I have seen a wordsearch with perspective before. Having the unused letters spell something is a great touch.

This is pretty bad ass. Great work.

Today I managed to combine 4 decently paying (cash and science) contracts into a single mission. 1. Gather science data from Mun surface 2. Put satellite into polar orbit of Mun 3. Take temperature readings (3 locations near the north pole plus two more close together near the big crater) 4. Gather science from around Mun Only netted me about 80 science and probably 200,000 kredits but it was enough to save my failing budget and get me just barely one more item on the tech tree! I'm saved!!!

Funny how there's a specific message about there being no hatch Hmmmm... Illuminati plot confirmed.

Stop messing with Physics Please
wossname replied to Rixsaw's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Why is it that the most efficient / fastest / most badS rockets and planes just happen to look completely awesome? Is there something in the human genome that can subconciously recognise when a shape is particularly suitable for hurtling through the upper atmosphere? -
It could even be setup in the difficulty menu either as an "on/off" or perhaps as a graduated slider for increasing the inclination and axial tilt for each planet/moon.

Stop messing with Physics Please
wossname replied to Rixsaw's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Same here. Often the physics change as a result of a performance improvement which means that there are suddenly spare clock cycles available for cool stuff like more beautiful weather effects or whatnot. Oh and by the way, off topic but: the turbojet engines have *really* cool looking exhaust effects now. Just saw this for the first time last night. -
Aliens may prefer to build clocks where that hands go the other way to human-made clocks. It's best to call ahead and confirm before you begin your journey.

Stock fairings' mass reduced by 100% in 1.04
wossname replied to Col_Jessep's topic in KSP1 Discussion
The fairings are half empty now -
It would be good for containing large landers which are typically trapezoidal in profile and you could also use it as a size adaptor part. I'd like to see such a thing.

You forgot to install a goo capsule.

They are adding dogs to the crew roster. Kanine pilots have been sadly absent from KSP.

Doubtful, we don't know what call centre Sawyer7as works at, so no personal data can be inferred. A name on its own isn't protected information as you can simply open a phone book and find more useful info. My lawyer reminds me that I am not a lawyer.

Smugness coefficients were added to the aerodynamics modelling system in 1.0.3. This is not to be confused with Complacency, which has been a known issue of the game since the beginning. Quite probably it is an inherent property of human players. Mods are available to mitigate these factors.

Does is possible to asteroid hit Kerbin

He's re-tiling my kitchen, doing a good job too. *badumtish* Try the veal.
