  1. This is a set of 1 / 200,000 scale models of every celestial body in the Kerbol system, save for Kerbol itself. The Mun is no larger than an FL-800 fuel tank. They are all treated by the game as parts, so they can be Klawed, docked to, pushed around, flung into space, carried in cargo holds, and stood on. They provide no science, and you cannot plant flags on them. 2. You're okay with me (briefly) using one of your craft (heavily modified) in this video, right?:
  3. WHY DID THIS WORK 96 RAPIERS carried 64 tons of equipment capable* of doing the Jool-5 Challenge into orbit today. So I guess that's what I'm doing. The Jool-5 Challenge, as launched by a gigantic friggin' SSTO**. *on paper **by gigantic, I mean that it runs at 1fps and crashes my game if it touches the launchpad. Science has gone too far.
  4. After further research, it turns out that long-range SSTOs are possible, but exponentially more difficult.
  5. People are saying that SSTOs in 1.0 are "dead". They mean that you can get into orbit, but can't get much of anywhere else. I haven't seen anyone get into orbit with more than 500 m/s left. There is some promise, though, in making glorified versions of these: https://youtu.be/Ltpgc4Kke4s?t=50s I can imagine a Tadpole sitting on top of a rocketless Bulldog that puts it on a suborbital trajectory, allowing the Tadpole to circularize under its own power while the Bulldog lands.
  6. Okay, just threw me off because the old Jool-5 required more than that.
  7. Can there be a list of entries pending review in the opening post? Also, as far as I can tell, collecting ANY science in a level 3 entry gets you Jeb's level, right? (That's what the opening post sounds like it's saying.)
  8. Oh, that sounded differently than I meant. Sorry. I meant simply to ask whether that would be a good thing to do.
  9. Sorry, but that destroys ease of access. I want to make this available to people who don't know how to install/use mods. Is that really necessary?
  10. Or what we could do is just think of what others use and collaborate instead of allocate. I am not able to start this save file, so someone else, please do.
  11. Ahem. MOAR BOOSTAHS!!! -Jeb (Also, are you using an air intake to look like a windshield? Wouldn't think of that.)
  12. So, like this? This is just the Mun as a part (like any command pod or fuel tank). It doesn't have gravity and it isn't on rails, but we're getting closer.
  13. You're going to build a base that builds dropships? Sweet! - - - Updated - - - I feel obligated to put this here in order to fill a hole in all of our (or at least some of our) hearts. It has nothing to do with dropships, but it has something to do with Cupcake.
  14. I was considering aiming towards planting a flag on every body. Also, welcome, Iceblade! Your timing is perfect!
  15. *cries softly* Ahem. When I first started this thread, such a death was just what I feared. I tried to structure the collaboration to make it as free as possible as to keep people able to play, and a fast-paced as possible to keep people from leaving from boredom. I vainly thought it might last for years, but as Robert Frost knew, nothing gold can stay. So, a toast to what could not have lasted forever, but will always be a great memory. May we remember the great accomplishments we achieved together and the fun we had.
  16. Actually, I can't really Minmussate better than you. Half of my runs end with an explosion, and in the other half I maintain about 10 meters above the ground. I sure as heck couldn't do it without the UI (for very long), and couldn't do it at such distant camera angles (without fantastic luck).
  17. I found the stupidest and worst glitch ever. Apparently, when you get within 200m of a landed vessel, KSP loads its physics and sets its velocity relative to you to zero. This means that if you try to fly though a landed hoop at 1000 m/s, the hoop will quickly approach, but then suddenly begin hover 200m ahead of you at your velocity. (Until of course, it explodes, because this is KSP we're talking about here.) This means it will be difficult to 1-up you.
  18. Yes, but I didn't use it at the throttle you'd like. But, thanks! Yours was good too!
  19. Let me clarify. 1) I don't men setting the landing altitude to zero, I mean landing somewhere where the terrain's altitude above sea level is zero, such as Minmus salt flats. 2) What I experienced was: -changing my longitude from 140 to 150 moved me west, but -changing my longitude from 150 to 160 moved me east.
