Calculating by hand would be impractical. I would imagine that you would first calculate an ideal path for the rocket to take, based on the characteristics of the launch vehicle and mission scenario, and would plan out the burns needed for that trajectory, based on everything being ideal. Then, when we launch, you would inform us of the burn characteristics (such as ∆V, amount prograde/retro, Radial/antiradial, normal/antinormal, when on MET the burns are, duration, which engine to use (when we have a choice between the SPS and RCS), when to start burn, when to end), and plot it ideally on the map. After each burn, you would update the trajectory to reflect reality, and if necessary plot any more burns to get back on course. The tools you would use are up to you, but hand calculations (while realistic) might take too much time. So, to sum up- calculate an ideal flight from Liftoff to splashdown, and then plot burns to match the trajectory, and burns to correct as needed. That's how I understood it, at least for trajectories. The other part would be to make sure that the craft is pointing the correct direction. But ZNG can provide a better explanation. Also, I'm making a spreadsheet with the different launch vehicles, their motors, burn times, stages, etc. That's my job, right?

No, I'm taking a recess from the court. Sanic?

Welcome aboard! It looks like you're gonna have fun here!

That's right. If you posted "soon" without the period, it wouldn't work.

Well, welcome now. Stay for a while!

Hi, So I'm interested in being CAPCOM, but I know that I can't commit to a full 78+ hour mission. I can commit to being online during weekends and evenings, but not during school hours (EST). IIRC, NASA had more than one CAPCOM for each mission, but only one on at a time. I would like to help, but in shifts. Is this doable?

No, but there is one written out. If you want it, ask Kuzzter.

Hi guys- Sorry to break it to the positive team, but this win was invalid. The problem here is that more numbers were skipped than we deemed acceptable. After having looked back through ALL the posts since the last victory, we found that the last correct number is 0: The next post with a number in it was SpaceplaneAddict's: This post is invalid. Rule 4 clearly states that SpaceplaneAddict's post is invalid because he does not say what the current number is, only that he is subtracting one (1) from the post above. A an example of a valid post would be And the answer is yes, you should. It states the current number and the operation you did on it. The current number is ZERO (0), and the win is invalid. Play on!

Banned for word contractions.

Granted. He plays KSP on your computer, and discovers that he is only a part of a game. Heartbroken, he kills himself. Depressed, you join him. I wish I was happy.

Silly Kuzzter! There's a reason that the best comic strips plan their stories out in advance! You should try it sometime!

The GMs have noted the positive victory and are reviewing it now.

Hmmm- that may be a bit more than you need. The S-V Nova was designed to go to Mars/Duna, so that's more than enough for a Munshot and back. BTW, it costs less ∆V to go to Minmus than to the Mun. Anyway, go for it. Shoot for the stars, and all that.

Yes, they do sound cool. Post them! I WANT SEE! Welcome aboard!
