I disagree, actually. As demonstrated by the XMF (sorry for always using it as an example, but I see it as the most likely champion) a volley of missiles can be incredibly deadly and end the fight really quickly. It takes a lot to dodge that many at once, so it makes it a pretty solid tactic. IMO of course. -

*Waves fist in the air* I'll get you next time, EvenFlow! Aw, was hoping I got the 2-A in on time... harder to compete without that extra engine. The 1-A vs the XMF is basically Urkel vs Tyson At least the 2-A can make him sweat a little. Also disappointed my planes failed to fire even a single shot in three rounds :\ Even in the "draw" round... not a single shot... I know I'm gonna sounds like a complainer (I promise I'm not!) but errr are you sure you turned guard mode on for my planes in that battle? I know they're outmatched, but as near as I can work out, they completely ignored the enemies. Didn't even try to line up any shots... just maintained altitude and flew in a circle... not even a missile fired. I ran the same tests (same planes, same take-off set up, same AI) and my Falcons at least made an effort :S If it's just bad, it's just bad I suppose... but to not even attempt to engage the enemy? That's a little odd. -

Because two is better than one, I've upgrade my Falcon to the SlamTek Falcon 2-A. A traditional one-thruster design proved too sluggish in today's fast-paced combat environment, so we did the simplest thing we could to fix it... put on another! Never mind the ugliness, we can always fix that later. We also filled a gap in our arsenal by installing a bunch of missiles. For science! Because hey, who doesn't love an arms race? While you're here, I have to ask: did you program the AI to fire all the missiles at once and fire the guns in bursts? If so, how? Seems very helpful -

Right that's beasically what I did. Just started with the pre-cooler because it looked right but I grabbed the engine, alternator, and a few others and put them together in it. -

Been running some tests against the XMF I'll be fighting in the first bracket... I'll put it this way, the name is very accurate. Also: Evenflow, how the heck did you set up the AI to shoot all the missiles at once? And fire the guns in bursts at longer range? -

What's the policy on rocket pods like the Hydra? Okay or not okay? -
7.5 / 10 rather cool looking. I like designs that pack a lot of modules in a small space. Edit: Rating for the SSTO because no one else rated it: 8/10 looks like a rocket, flies like a plane! This is my Luxor-class Luxury Space Tourism SSTO, capable of a Munar flyby and return without refueling (and probably more if I were a better pilot)

This happens to me all the time. Really made me mad til I figured it out. Like Explorer said, you have to make sure that if you set any key bindings to a joystick, you have to have that joystick plugged in when you start the game. I believe the reason is that the game looks through the files, sees that part of it, and when it can't find what it's referring to, it just skips to the next thing. This is just a theory. So yeah, just make sure you have that thing plugged in. You can still set your axis' and buttons from the main screen like you would usually do. It just gets screwy if you forget it one time. Also, I don't think it's mod related, so any changes to mods shouldn't affect it. -
Hi, I've been working on a little mod for my personal use. It consists of two modified stock parts: an Engine-Precooler that's been converted into an Internal Comubstion Engine, which intakes air and LF to produce a special 'RPM' resource. This goes to my modified TR-2L Rugged Wheels, which produce much greater speed than the regular ones (plus improved crash tolerance, etc). I set up my 'RPM' resource by copying the ElectricCharge resource and pasting it as a new module at the bottom, and simply changed the name. Currently, if I have the throttle at 0, no RPMs are produced, and the tires won't spin. At even a tick above 0, it produces enough to get up to nearly top speed, but much more than I want. At full, it gets top speed easily. Would I just need to play with numbers, or would it just not be modeled correctly in the current system? I feel like when I experimented before with lower numbers, one wheel would simply not get any power below a certain threshold. My question is this: how can I manage RPM output and usage so that changing the throttle affects how much power the wheels get? Is there a better resource to model it after than ElectricCharge?

Another option is to add Jet-Power to the car. Personally, I'd use Tweakscale to place a tiny fuel tank and thurster somewhere on it. -

Can you make a 2 crew + 8 passenger SSTO that is capable of both Mun and Minmus fly-by (and safe landing at KSC) without refueling? Been working on one myself, and almost there, just can't get the extra 500ish dV out of it :S
