  1. I really liked the barn idea. It added flavor. The replacements are just cut-and-paste, boring, vanilla-flavored clones that get a little bit bigger with each upgrade. I've always considered KSP a unique, amusing style. The current T1 models, however, really don't fit with that style, and (for me at least) take away a lot of the, well, humor of it. It just feels cheap. They added a little chocolate to the sundae, but the folks who only eat vanilla are the loudest, so, all the other flavors get dumped. If buildings were moddable, I'd absolutely install one to set the T1 buildings back to what they should (IMO) be.
  2. If you're main intent is gaming, then you pretty much need a dedicated GPU. Integrated chips are all but worthless for anything beyond Youtube IMO. Even a cheap GPU can make a huge difference.

  4. Hi, I did a few searches and turned up nothing, so I assume this might be part of another mod. Basically, I'm looking for a mod that would show me both the dry CoM and wet CoM in VAB/SPH, in order to make spaceplane building a bit easier. Any suggestions? Edit: And yes, I know I can just remove the fuel from the tanks in VAB/SPH, but if I have, say, 20ish fuel tanks attached...

  6. I agree. The current models are just so... uninspired. Boring. Bland. Blech.
  7. Saw it on Steam a couple times, and briefly checked it out. IIRC, when I first started seeing it on there, the price was huge... like $100! Maybe I'm imagining that (does anyone know?), but I'm pretty sure it was some ridiculous amount... anywho when it went on sale for about $20 or so, I figured "screw it" and bought it. Sooo glad I did.
  8. The more I think about it, the more I think that ramming would be a bad idea. It might work, but it's a risk. Using quicksaves would make it a bit more feasible. Leaving your engines on for a while to burn them off is probably the safest bet. They will explode eventually... you'll just waste a fair bit of deltaV before it happens.
  9. My solution was to open the bay, release the payload, then send a kerbal out to nudge it out of the bay
  10. Okay so what I think I'm seeing here is four LV-Ns (or Lv-T30/45s?) with fairing around them, and docking ports at the ends. The engines, I believe, are facing the same direction as the docking ports, so that's good. I'd say try to right click and use "Jettison" (as has been suggested) to remove the fairings, which should take the docking ports with them. I'm just not sure you can decouple them that way, however. I suppose you could (as suggested) just dock more engines onto those ports, but that will add extra mass, as the original engines will be dead weight. Solution 1: Send up a new engine cluster to dock with the ship Solution 2: Attempt to ram something into the docking ports to destroy them... without damaging the engines. (very sketchy)
  11. Made a tiny, Ion-Powered probe and sent it to Minmus, which landed with about 5.5km/s dV. I've used it to do about 4 or 5 Minmus seismic contracts, and it's still got about half it's fuel left. So far it's made me at least 1 mil, and it only cost about 20k to launch
  12. When I start feeling like it's too easy, I switch to 6.4x Kerbin. Now that​ is a bit more of a challenge!
  13. Merry Christmas all! Besides the usual stuff (candy, clothes, etc) I got South Park: The Stick of Truth. It's actually a lot more fun than I expected, and my roommates can watch it as if it's a regular episode.

Well, my original name on Steam was [CENSORED: RULE 2.2c], but I later changed it to [CENSORED: RULE 2.2c], and most recently changed it to Slam Jones so that I can actually post it places without folks getting, like, super offended >.> Edit: To clarify, I can't actually post those two names because, you guessed it, forum rule 2.2c (specifically the drugs part of it)
  15. Didn't see a thread on this, but if there is feel free to direct me to it! I've seen a lot of folks on the forum here showing off their art for KSP mods and such, but I'm curious what other things you guys have come up with, whether in Blender, 3DS Max, or otherwise. These do not need to be KSP-related (in fact, I'd prefer they're not! ) So I'll start it off with some basic guns I made a few months ago for a cowboy-ish style game. BTW: I work with 3DS Max since I don't know any better A revolver (chamber is animated to rotate and pop out; hammer and trigger animated as well) A light machine gun (the barrels rotate) The same LMG with some (crappy) textures Obviously I'm not very skilled (yet) so don't be too embarrassed to post your stuff! What has the KSP community made recently?
  16. So today (yesterday) I made a vertial-launching, chute-landing plane to do Kerbin-based scans and such. I'm only impressed with it because it means that I made it within the constraints of the tier-1 SPH and hangar. Sure as heck helped with early-mid game to get cash for KSC upgrades.

Level 4.x I can land on a non-atmospheric within a few meters of my intended target (thanks to building oh so many Mun bases), I've entered the SOI of basically every body in Kerbol (sans Eeloo I think) and have made a couple trips to the Jool system, Spaceplanes are easy to make, but just take sooo long to get to orbit, so I usually don't bother anymore, In order to not instantly feel like I have the imagination and intellect of a second-grader, I choose not to watch Scott Manley videos just yet. And now, whenever I see a spaceship in another video game/in a movie/etc, I inevitably think "wow, they must have crazy ISP with fuel tanks that small!" (because of course they are)

Usually, I'll just use descriptive names so it's easy to remember what they are ("Mun Probe I", "Space Bus", "Delta-1 Surveyor") But occasionally, I'll make a new save for sh*ts and giggles, and I'll use my Three-Random-Word process. Basically, any three (or more) random words that, when put together, make me laugh. ("Alley Cat Assault Wagon", "Evil Flying Spud", "Robot Unicorn Massacre", "OH GOD THE BEES" etc)
  19. I believe it occurs when you mouse over the staging in VAB/SPH. It will highlight the part associated with that staging control (booster, decoupler, etc)
  20. Here it is: Hobo Station 99.9% self-sustaining! Fully capable of rapid semi-planned dis-assembly if I turn on SAS!

  23. Yeah I expected "No SAS" to mean it's unstable and requires constant adjustments. The fact that it's literally uncontrollable makes it literally useless to me. Sure, I can launch it, but it's never gonna go where I want it to. :|
