  1. Installed 6.4x RSS last night, and holy crap it's actually hard to get to LKO. Uninstalled it after an hour or two, but I might put it back on if I download B9 for the bigger thrusters.
  2. Extremely light, extremely efficient. I shudder to put them on anything bigger than a probe due to ridiculous burn times, but it certainly has its uses.
  3. Just watched the video, and that is some damn fine engineering. Amazing how much they can fit onto such a tiny craft.
  4. If you are still determined, KAS adds a number of parts that can be used (in theory) in a similar fashion to what you're thinking of. Whether they will actually work how you want them to, or if they're even slightly efficient, however, is beyond my knowledge. I may try something like this later for sh*ts n giggles.
  5. Two questions: A.) How many parts are we talking here? A few hundred? A few thousand? B.) What system are you running on? What CPU, RAM, and GPU? Any mods?
  6. Was within an in-game hour of losing a Kerbal due to life support depletion while orbiting Mun. Used my remaining dV to make a bee-line back to Kerbin before he died... entered the atmosphere at about 3500 m/s and somehow, amazingly, Douki Kerman landed and survived with no more than a few seconds remaining before he died. Whew. Close call.
  7. This is true, and usually I would, but this time I was trying to go for a little more "realism" in that I wouldn't: A) Repeat contracts (Science data from Kerbin/Mun/Plant flag/etc) without launching new vessel (or crew for a station) Use the insanely OP contracts. Either way, I've gone thru career enough times that it doesn't bother me
  8. Love hard mode, but hate the bugs. In my most recent attempt, I put 50% of my funds (about 400k) into testing a new ship section. I sent it to the launch pad, tested the components, and recovered it. Normally this gives you back the funds you used, but no, it decided to take ALL my funds. Literally down to 0 funds. This was in a game where I was about 90% of the way thru the tech tree, too. So I started a new game :\
  9. Hi all, Bought a new Radeon R9 270 to replace my Radeon HD 6850 (it had some major fan troubles). It arrived today, so of course I went and installed it right away. When I boot up the computer with it installed, however, the card doesn't seem to be feeding video to my monitor. The fans spin, but nothing boots up. I took it out and put my 6850 back in, and it's working fine. Would this indicate that my card is DOA, or is it installed improperly? Also, many answers I found online said to boot up with the monitor plugged into the mobo. Problem is, my mobo doesn't have any video output. Thoughts? EDIT: After further testing, I've determined it's absolutely DOA. Sending it in to get replaced tomorrow.
  10. I use the KR-2L all the time. Just lower the thrust so it's not such a ridiculous TWR Edit: Didn't see the other replies >.>
  11. I use Google because: A.) I'm used to it B.) I have gmail so why not C.) Can't think of any advantages to using something else.
  12. Well, practice makes perfect. Hop on Sandbox mode and crash a few times til you've got it figured out
  13. I think in my biggest save game (which I abandoned due to lag-related reasons) I think I had 50ish flights in progress. Since then, I've installed a few mods (namely TAC and MKS/OKS), and I try to limit how many I have out, usually keeping it at 10 at most. FX-4100 Zambezi (3.6 gHz) Quad-Core 4 gB RAM Radeon HD 6850 (but my Radeon R9 270 should be arriving today ) 64bit win7 32bit KSP
  14. Take a short break. I usually find I only stay away from Kerbal for a few days at most. I'll play some Battlefield 4, or some GTA, or something else. Invariably, though, I'll see something that gives me a little jolt of inspiration... and then it's right back to Kerbal
  15. This is a known issue. While there may be a "proper" way to fix it, what I usually do is orient the Mk I pod so that the hatch side is fully vertical comparative to the kerbal's "natural" state (the way he orients himself when you hit 'R'), and go on EVA. For me, at least, this keeps his on the ladder instead of immediately launching him out.
  16. Been working on what I shall call a Viking-Class cruiser. Pics are of the main section of the hull at different stages of building. The initial frame consisted of about 400 pieces, but after installing TweakScale, I've reduced it to about 100. Since these pics were taken, it's gone thru a few slight changes, mainly adding docking ports inside the hangar bay. I plan to launch the empty shell on it's own, then start sending up modules to dock inside it. Since I use TAC and OKS/MKS, I've got a number of modules to send up.
  17. if you do manage to get it going on your laptop, its performance will be pretty shoddy. If you're determined, tho, just turn down all the graphics settings, including light probes, etc, and you may be able to get some small ships into orbit. If it were my computer, I'd look to upgrade soon.
  18. Not too many... KAS, TAC, MKS/OKS, Engineer, and KAC
  19. Today (or last night rather) I finally, after many hundreds of hours, realized that you can change your flag in-game by clicking the flagpole outside the astronaut complex. Not that I've ever needed to.
  20. I'm pretty sure there are folks in North Korea with better internet than me.
  21. Hmm, if I'm near my hometown (north San Diego) then Cortez. If I'm near my current town (southern orange county) then Chronic Taco. Just get a big ol' burro with carne asada, queso, and guacamole. Pure heaven *drool* Damn, now I'm gonna go get one after work...
  22. I laughed way too hard at this... am I a bad person?
  23. Had this happen to me in orbit. I believe I had just come out of a timewarp, and *poof!* two wings disappear in a cloud of confusion
  24. I had this happen while burning to get to LKO. Occurred, I think, 50km up, possibly higher. I took a screeny of the flight log, I'll post it here when I get a chance.
