  1. Fairly certain by "not in mine" he means use your own launcher/ship to get them there.
  2. Granted, but only because they played against America. I wish I could live off of only donuts and coffee for the rest of my life.
  3. The one situation where this is okay is if you're applying to a video game company. When I got my job at Blizzard (and got laid off 6 months later ), it definitely helped that I played their games religiously. In fact, most of the interviews were about my gaming experience. But for jobs in the real world, video game knowledge isn't really well-looked-upon.
  4. Sheesh. Someone's having a bad day... That ship tho... truly epic.
  5. I got a Kerbal into low Munar orbit with (mostly) just EVA pack. The ship ran out of fuel halfway back to orbit, so he jumped out and EVA'd to orbit. Sent a rescue ship and picked him up.
  6. I had this idea a few weeks ago, and built a few LFO powered rovers for "racing" pruposes. Personally I'll wait til official Multi-player is out, but I do like the idea of competetive Mun Rover Baja-Style Rally races.
  7. So, like a buff to XP gain? An engineer gets X experience doing Y task, but if he eats a sandwich first, he gains X+Z experience from Y task. Am I close?
  8. An "undo" button in the VAB and SPH. I hate putting something into subassembly, or trying to click a new part, and having half the ship come off, requiring me to re-orient it, snap it back in place, repair connections, etc. etc.
  9. Not that I've found. Usually, for my crafts, I don't need to move more than a few meters. I think you just need to get out of the "magnet" zone and back into it, which is no more than a few meters.
  10. I never really plan on using them, but if I encounter one while making a burn, I'll usually take advantage of it to save some dV.
  11. The funds-to-science ratio has been well-noted by basically everyone that's tried it. They are working on balancing it. As for the rest, well, we're coming up on version 0.90, so there should be quite a bit more to do soon.
  12. Is indeed a stock craft, I'll upload the .craft file when I get home from work. EDIT: What's a good site to upload the craft file to? EDIT 2: My home internet is down this weekend, but I'll be able to upload the .craft file on Monday.
  13. Finally gave in and installed two mods: Kethane and Kerbal Engineer. I've enjoyed trying to get a Munar excavation base going.
  14. So I've got a pretty damn unusual breed of Kraken here. It occurred during a play session, and continued to happen until I restarted the game. So, it may be due simply to my computer f'ing up, but I feel like I might as well post it anyway. So basically, I was attempting to send a De-Orbiter unit into LKO (basically, a fuel tank with a bunch of chutes attached to it and a claw on the end). Normally, not a big deal. In most situations, it works without a hitch. However, if I performed any sort of Time Warp while it is in focus, a very strange thing would happen. Something at the end of the ship (maybe the claw, maybe the probe core, who knows) would become kinematic (Unity-speak for "completely immobile in every way). This would cause the bottom of the ship (where the rockets are) to, well, do some strange stuff. The rockets would fire fine, but since the top of the ship refused to move even an inch, the rockets would swing around and eventually snap off. I managed to get into into LKO once, but when I tried to time warp there, the same thing would happen. The ship would come instantly to a halt, and any thrust applied would just throw around the back of the ship, while the front sits perfectly still. I'm gonna attempt to re-create this tonight and get some clips of it occurring (if possible). You can see in the pictures that the top section remains in place, even after the rest of the rocket has broken off and is flying around. Anyone else had a similar experience?
  15. Despite playing mostly in career mode, I tend to do my projects rather... un-efficiently. Sitting in LKO with bay open. This is what I use to refuel some of my ships: The Space Dock. Tends to bring me to pretty damn low FPS, but it's awfully satisfying docking a ship inside another ship. Sent it up with about 1/12 of the fuel it can carry, and now building an SSTO that can bring Orange tanks up to re-fuel it. In LKO with a Hawkeye Cruiser docked. This is just one idea for what you can do. Like I said, not efficient at all really, but definitely fun.
  16. I've seen several of them on Mun and Duna. One of my current theories is that they're left over (somehow) from a ship that turned a light on or off at that location. The more I think about it, tho, the less that makes sense... usually I find them in places I haven't been to yet.
  17. My first attempt at getting my Hawkeye Cruiser to space, using 24 SRBs as the first stage: The SRBs continued to rip themselves apart and take my cruiser anywhere but space. After a revision, I now use this: Just replaced the SRBs with Orange Tanks and Skippers. Haven't needed to launch anything bigger yet... usually I just launch modular sections and put it all together in LKO.
  18. A Hawkeye Supercruiser (middle), to which is attached an extra fuel pod (top), an Ion-Claw (attached to back of fuel pod, used as a small tug), a lander can (at the very back), and an SSTO (attached to the bottom). Detached and re-arranged everything before heading to Mun for lander can tests. I just like how overloaded the poor thing looks
  19. The Space Dock: The first attempt was too heavy and tore itself apart, so I reduced the number of panels and put less fuel in the tanks. Made it to orbit no problem! It's even technically an SSTO
  20. Finally decided to explore Dres. Got my cruiser into (a very eccentric due to low dV) orbit around Dres, and successfully deployed my lander to the surface. After work, I'll attempt to bring the lander back to the orbiting cruiser.
  21. Made a TIE-Interceptor (sorta) It flies (not very quickly) on two Ion engines
  22. If you aren't too skilled at docking yet (not many are) you can put a claw unit on a ship, latch onto the tank, and transfer fuel that way. Doesn't require the precision of regular docking, but not recommended for building large stations.
