  1. I'm 20% Builder, 80% Pilot. If i used MechJeb, i'd never have learned rendezvous or landing or basically anything important... 100% purist. Maaaybe a little mod-curious, but the way I see it, the game is how the dev's want it to be, so why change that. 50% sci-fi, 50% space geek. 0% astrophysist, 0% realist... I don't know what to call it, but I typically just launch rockets, see where they will go, (and if they aren't going where I want) then revert, time warp, and launch again.
  2. Built a Space Dock big enough to house/refuel my Cruiser ships. Doesn't look like much yet, but it's the biggest thing I've put in orbit yet, so I'm rather pleased.
  3. For the types of craft I send to Jool (and the speed at which they approach) I usually have to dip pretty far into the atmosphere. I can't remember off the top of my head what my ships usually hit, but I'm 90% it's lower than 140,000. It may not work for you, but with my ships I think I usually hit 90,000 - 120,000. Last time I flew to Jool and aerobraked (aerobroke?) it put me in an orbit just passed Laythe, allowing my orbit to increase and encompass all the moons and I pass/get grav assist from them. I figured this out using trial and error (quicksave/quickload) and suggest you do something similar. Good luck!
  4. Typically, hopping on the forums and taking a look at what everyone has accomplished with the game gets me inspired to build again.
  5. Just for the record, with practice and precision you can land on slopes on low gravity moons. Stable Landing on Minmus But for other cases, well, they already told you. Good luck!
  6. So I'm curious, would it be possible to put Minmus in orbit around the Mun? (Or any other moon, really). Or are they on rails?
  7. My Hawkeye Cruiser. No idea the delta V or anything of those fancy maths, but I've sent them to nearly every body in the solar system, including Moho. It has: 2 Clamp-o-Tron Senior Docking Ports (one in the rear, one radial), 1 Standard Clamp-o-Tron (radial), and 2 Clamp-o-Tron Jr's (radial). Carries up to 6 Kerbals: 2 in Main Landing Pod (in center column for control), 2 in Science Pod, and 2 External Seats. Detachable lander can can carry an additional 2 Kerbals for surface exploration. Best design Ive done yet. Barely wobbles in flight, and the nuke engines make it super efficient. Seen here with a lander can attached A cruiser aerobraking over Duna Low pass over Moho Orbiting Kerbin with Red Lights on
  8. I know it's dark but would you mind taking a look at this one?
  9. On the Highway to Hell: Looks like someone doesn't like spacewalks... Success! Too low? Pshhhhh
  10. Presenting: The Hawkeye Cruiser Seen here in red Has docking ports of every size, and is fully capable of interplanetary travel. A Cruiser with green lights making a low pass over Moho. Every style of docking port means nearly anything can attach to it. Seen here with a lander pod over Kerbin.
  11. My first attempt at a Space Station. (Creatively named "SpaceBase") All stock, all career. - Will post more here soon -
  12. IMO it looks like a different texture. At some points (coincidence?) the "raked" terrain is in the Highlands, and the "unraked" are the lowlands, etc.
  13. Well, in the past week I've gone from "OH GOD HOW DO I DOCK IN SPACE AAAHHHH" to "Hell yeah, first try!" Now all I need to do is get a SSTO refined enough to dock with one of my cruisers in orbit, then head off to a planet. Also, at some point, I'll work on return vehicles for all my stranded Kerbals
  14. Based off of everything I've read and played, the concensus (at least for many many years) was that Deus Ex and Half-Life (the original) were both contending for "Greatest Game of All Time" Never got into Deus Ex that much, but Half-Life was definitely one of the most well thought-out games I've played yet. Based off sales alone, Minecraft is up there, but IMO that's kinda to be expected with something as unique and imitation-worthy as it is. It basically spawned an entire new genre of games... or at least made that genre popular for once.
  15. I usually only modify my current launcher when making a new ship. Sometimes I start from scratch, but I find it easier to save the launcher as a sub-assembly, then just slap it on whatever payload I'm sending up. If it fails, then back to the workshop!
  16. Accidentaly murdered Bob Kerman (and two other random Kerbals) when their station core failed to make orbit. Sorry Bob
  17. Awesome, thanks for the quick replies! Changing to Answered.
  18. Probably a stupid question, but as I don't see it on the wiki anywhere, I'll ask here. Is there any way to modify/set action groups while in flight? Or can that only be done from the VAB? Thanks!
  19. Considering that (as a pretty bad 3d artist) I could make a log cabin of similar quality in a few hours or less, I'm gonna go ahead and assume that this is a mod of some sort. Would be cool if it were stock, but I really rather doubt it.
  20. Absolutely. My first time playing through campaign, it took me a week or two to fill the tech tree. Just started a Hard Mode game (well technically Moderate mode) game yesterday, and I've already got most of the techs unlocked (thanks to Outsourced R&D and the Unpaid Intern thing). OP? Totally. Awesome? Absolutely!
  21. Started a new campaign on Moderate mode (but with No Reverts, No Quicksaves) and nearly completed the tech tree in a single day. My first time through campaign it took weeks to get full tech tree. Science campaigns are OP as f***, but I love em
  22. 70km to get to space. I'll get my spaceplanes just barely beyond it, but for stations and such, I try to stay beyond 100km
  23. Mkay... so is this actually a question? Doesn't really look like a question. If not, do you have any screenshots to explain what you're talking about? Edit: As far as I've experimented, tho, it doesn't matter if you attach the launch clamps to the SRBs or the central rocket. (At least on my designs, I have no idea what you're working with.) The only time I've had an issue with it exploding the launch pad is when I had the bottom on the SRBs clipping through the floor in the VAB. As long as there's some clearance there, you shouldn't have any problem with an exploding launchpad.
