  1. If you have any screenshots, those tend to help a HUGE amount
  2. Yep, this has happened to me with External Seats pretty often. My favorite was when I had a Kerbal go into a "coma" but I could still control him. So basically I was flying a limp, dead Kerbal around the Mun with his jetpack. Every time he would hit the ground his animation would change and get stuck again... good times...
  3. I had to tune down a number of settings, but I can run KSP at a decent framerate (and 1920 x 1080) with only 4gB. Try some of Claw's suggestions.
  4. Lots of good advice here. I'll d/l GPU-Z and test it like you mentioned (wish I'd thought of that a while ago xD). My other question regarding RAM is, how bad is it to mismatch gB sizes? Like would it be a good idea in any way to add 2x 4gB with my 2x 2gB currently installed? I wouldn't do it that way, but I'm curious what the theoretical side-effects would be (if any).
  5. I have 0 experience editing wiki's, but if anyone want to post it, go right ahead! Might I also suggest the name: Kragle Kraken (as a LEGO movie reference )
  6. Eye - Ess - Pee Edit: That could just be me tho. Anything that is just an amalgamation of letters, I pronounce by the letter.
  7. Oops, didn't see your post when I replied. I edit'd my reply. Thanks!
  8. Good to know. Thanks! Basically 99% gaming. The other games I've been playing lately are: Warframe (it got a big graphical boost recently, so I had to turn down the graphics ) and Battlefield 4. I find that the "unplayable" line for me is around 25 FPS. Below that, I just get irritated. I love playing on 1920 x 1080, but I'll turn that down if needed (only had to do it in Warframe). I prefer max'd out settings, and resolution is usually the last setting I tune down. I also occasionally do 3d design, game development (in Unity) and some programming (C#) but none of those programs have had issues with my current system. EDIT: As far as RAM goes, would I be better off getting another 2x 2gB RAM set in addition my current one (so all 4 slots are filled), or would I be better off with 2x 4gB and taking out my current 2x 2gB (so that only two slots are still filled)
  9. So of the three, what would you recommend I upgrade first? I don't like the idea of upgrading my Processor just for single-thread processing boost, as KSP is the only game I play that can't utilize all four cores.
  10. Jeb. Autobots or Decepticons?
  11. Only visited Dres for the first time last week... gotta say, I'm amazed at how tiny and uninteresting it is. Literally anything would spice it up. The canyons with atmosphere in them would be pretty rad. Maybe some sort of liquid (not water) flowing below the canyon atmosphere? Or even just terrain scatter other than basic rocks?
  12. So I built my computer a few years ago (summer of... '12 I think?) and it's starting to get a little behind the times. I need to upgrade it, but can only afford one piece (of $100 - $200ish or so) at a time. Any suggestions on what the first piece should be? The three parts I'm thinking of upgrading (and what I want to upgrade to): AMD Processor, 3.6gHz Quad-Core (Prolly last to be upgraded, it still runs most everything great) ATI Radeon 6850 HD (Thinking of upgrading to a R9 280X, maybe a R9 290 if I can afford it ) 4 gB RAM (I think this should be upgraded first to 8gig) KSP runs at 60fps at title screen, usually 30-40 in regular gameplay, down to 5 FPS if using a ship of more than 300+ parts and terrain is in view. Any suggestions?
  13. Hit a jump on Minmus... and land on the Mun.
  14. I typically put a few extra batteries, mono containers and disable their auto-feed. (Right click on it, click the green arrow so it's a red X) Then just re-enable it when you need it.
  15. Heh, it just so happens I've been working on De-Orbiter pods (a fuel tank, claw, and a bunch of chutes) for my extraneous stations... I'll de-orbit one (or part of one) tonight
  16. Aw, I was hoping I could help slay this Kraken. Either way, hope this ship helps figure the problem out eventually
  17. IIRC, I had: done a launch, reverted to VAB, modified, and launched again, reverted, modified, launched again, reverted, etc etc. Likely no more than 4 or 5 iterations. I had been playing for at least an hour or two at that point, but I can't recall exactly what preceded it.
  18. Alrighty, here is the craft file for your testing purposes: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_FjXR8JXRQZdzVVSkl6QnZZaEE/view?usp=sharing IIRC, I had: done a launch, reverted to VAB, modified, and launched again, reverted, modified, launched again, reverted, etc etc. Likely no more than 4 or 5 iterations. 20. Huh. So I'm guessing that set-up is lighter/more efficient than Rapiers? I might try it out tonight.
  21. What engine are you using for vacuum thrust? Or are those modded TurboJets or something?
  22. I've been able to build a fairly sizable and efficient KethLab on the Mun within about two days of installing Kethane. As far as running out of Kethane, well, the first driller I dropped on Mun went haywire and won't let me retract the drill, and is simply spitting Kethane into space... still think it would take a few in-game years to drain all of that deposit. Since there's many deposits on every planet, the chance of completely running out of Kethane is all but nil.
  23. No pics yet, but I've started working on a Keth-Ion-Nuke Infini-Explorer Probe. In theory, it should be able to land on any moon, drill up kethane, convert it to LFO (for the nuke engine) and Xenon, and keep on cruising. The first prototype worked (did a successful landing, fueling, re-orbiting on Mun) like a charm, but I am far too impatient to sit through a 40-minute Ion-engine burn, so I took it back to the drawing board. Ideally, it will have at least 2,000 m/s dV for both Nuke and Ion stages alike, and hopefully a much quicker burn time.
  24. Started messing around with Kethane, and sent my first drill probe to the Mun. Due to a minor miscalculation, I failed to put enough solar panels on it. It wasn't until I landed on the Mun and deployed the drill that I realized this... at which point it was too late. It couldn't build up enough electricity to let me retract the drill, but wasn't losing enough to retract it automatically... so now I've got a rogue drill just releasing Kethane into the atmosphere. Had to terminate it
