  1. Is it just me, or does that calculator make little sense? The individual node numbers seem reasonable, but the final number it gives after selecting a celestial body is ludicrously overblown. For example, why would it take 10km/s dV to just land on Minmus? At worst that's 5 km/s to orbit, 1 km/s to transfer, 1 km/s to circularise and land = 7 km/s dV. On topic: I tried my best google-fu, but alas, to no avail. Sorry OP.
  2. It's necessary to calculate exhaust velocity Ve, which in turn is needed for the calculation of dV. The equation for dV is: We are not given the exhaust velocity Ve in KSP, but we do know the Isp, which can be converted into Ve by this equation: Quite relevant.
  3. Never dump bare dubnium into cryogenic storage. egbdibtg
  4. -22 Well at least posting here doesn't increase your post count.
  5. OX-STATs are massless, and therefore cause no drag. The additional drag is caused by the extra parachutes, engines, tanks and wings.
  6. I find it hard to predict just how much the atmosphere will alter my trajectory, so I would probably drop straight from the 500 km orbit. It will cost less dV to deorbit and it will be easier to pinpoint a landing location (less atmo to go through), given that you take into account Laythe's rotation. The atmosphere should be thick enough to slow you down, especially with chutes. I'd also advise you against using the simple jets, as 2 turbojets would easily have enough thrust to take off and would provide superior performance in getting to orbit. But that's a little OT as you are already there
  7. Impossible as far as I know. Unless someone made a mod that would log each flight results window on recovery. You can ask for one (if it hasn't been made already) here.
  8. If only that happened just in games... I frequently press F1 to take a screenshot of something and then wonder why it doesn't work. Another solution might be a sticky note with "THIS AIN'T KSP FOOL" on a side of the screen.
  9. My worst quicksave moment was the opposite - I had no idea about the parachute deployed + quicksave bug. Tons of science from every Minmus biome, Jeb hurling towards the ocean at 120 m/s and only a teeny tiny parachute to slow him down. Worst part is I landed just fine before but decided to do it again just for fun. And oh boy the fun I had. It was in a 0.90 career, so Jeb as a pilot was unable to cut->repack->deploy. I ended up messing with the quicksafe.sfs, manually changing the chute state from deployed to stowed. But it took me at least 20 minutes of panic before I figured it out.
  10. Only a few informational and utility mods here (KER, KAC, Docking alignment and such). Also, I love stracciatella. What a coincidence
  11. Tonight, Oliver imagined new submarines - pretty horrific, innit? neiphdfg
  12. I was reffering to the rules, specifically this one: Mad Rocket Scientist's post did the opposite operation on the same number as my post did, and if he would have posted closer to me, his operation would overtake mine. As his (invalid) post appeared alone on a new page, I thought it would be better to specify the current number to avoid confusion for people who would just look at the last post and continue from there. Also, -2 + 1 = -1
  13. 10 minutes is really a little too late For anyone who doesn't want to go diggin': The current number is -2
  14. 0.15° K, that's still a lot of movement -2
  15. MY WHOLE LIFE* HAS BEEN A LIE *since 0.90 was released I had no idea, that's very neat
