  1. Not designed for flight. Simply to get into orbit. Hit spacebar on runway. When in flight hit caps lock to use fine control and aim the nose up. Fly to orbit. Around 20k, depending on flight path, hit 3 and toggle closed mode for rapiers. Some flight paths will allow it to auto toggle. I'm still testing to see if these can get to minmus to refuel. That is my usual test of readiness. My previous version did but I added stuff to level out the mining abilities and have added touch more weight since. I've added some fuel to compensate but am tired of flying them to minimus to test, so I thought I would share the fruits of my labor! (BTW, they can definitely get into orbit. It's a matter of what to do after. If they can't get to minumus use a refueler around kerbin.) Explorer 190 Tons <- Maybe lacking electrical storage. I recommend adding more batteries if desired/needed. Transporter 250 tons Shortcuts: (Both Craft) Abort: Toggle Heat & Solar Panels Lights: Toggle ISRU & Grappling Arm + lights 1: Toggle Nukes 2: Toggle RAPIERs 3: Switch Mode: RAPIERs 4: Toggle Jet engines 5 Toggle Drills & Heat Sinks 6: Activate Drills 7: Toggle LF+Ox 8: Toggle Mono 9: Toggle Liquid Fuel 10: Toggle Oxidizer Explorer: Transporter: I wish we had the ability to have intelligent sweeping wings. The transport might actually be able to fly if it could have it's front wings sweep back and forth. Or, at the least, it might improve control in lower orbit. Besides needing structural things done to it in this configuration, it definitely flies a little better like this. It did rip apart on hard banking though. The wing sweeping in flight could be very useful for landing though. I would have to move the landing gear back. And then finally address the front landing gear having problems on the runway. Edit: I wonder if MK2 would be better for this design than MK3. It would add a lot more air surfaces and might make it fly properly. It would also thin it out more making it possibly more aerodynamic. The downside would be possibly losing the ISRU to a smaller version do to different cargo sizes. Unless I use an adapter at some point. That or had it awkwardly stick out of the MK2 cargo bay. MK2 would definitely be lighter and more flyable though. I'll have to try to make one and see. In fact here is an MK2 Starfighter I just made up. Needs something to dock with assuming it can achieve orbit fully. If not it's fun to fly.(Edit: made it to orbit!) IDGAD Starfighter <- 36 tons Shortcuts: 1: Toggle Nukes 2: Toggle RAPIERs 3: Switch Mode: RAPIERs + Toggles intakes 4: Toggle Jet engines + Toggles intakes Would moving the tail back on the Starfighter help it or hurt it? And how many intakes is too many? Anyone up on how those work. If drag is increased or decreased when closed still, etc. I used the amount of intake (2x6 on the inline .5x12 on the radials) and matched it with the engines stated need. No idea if that is the right value. BTW, this thing has amazing reentry abilities. It's almost impossible to mess up and you can throw just about anything at it. The Starfighter is the single best atmospheric reentry vehicle I have ever made! You can use it's larger surface area to stop almost anywhere at any time. And the front is so thin you can take almost any amount of heat. I came in at just under 2400km and was perfectly fine. Traveled quarter to a half way around Kerbin at that speed and didn't blow up. Landed back at KSP afterwords. Stopped right over the continent it's on in almost no time by flipping upwards and killing the speed within 10's of seconds to seconds.
  2. Do not tell the magic boulder things it does not wish to know!
  3. I was reading something about how, "Total eclipse of the heart," was one of the greatest ballads every made or something and the song and video had alot of stuff to be analyzed... I came up with something that might explain the entire song and music video! Constipation/gas relief medication!! Simultaneously the experiences of going to a lot of restaurants in the 80's! Or what can happen on a good date!(maybe general medication/goods for incontinence... Adult Pampers!! ;d) The sword fighters represent the struggle. The gymnast represents the physical reality of holding it in(notice there is only one. Where there are two sword fighters fighting for victory(holdin/release!)). When the gymnast flips and the bang is heard that is when it was released! immediately afterwords the chaos ensues in the eating scene and wind potentially makes everything go everywhere or is the result of the shock/chaos of those in the vacinity! Earlier she walks past the young men and a wind blows their shirts open. Most interpret this as something potentially sexual. But I say no! >< The young man with the wings and makeup is a "little stinker!?"/ the inevitable coming!(Religious arcanology/iconology like the end is night. The little devil/angel or the two sides of the coin pain/holding or release/salvation.) The mask of the sword fighter comes off after the final large bangs emphasizing the end of the struggle and the match between the two sides! the multiple bangs around the gymnast flip could be the same bang being down over and over representing the magnitude or ramifications of one event or multiple events or a combo. The kids could represent the returning of the other person or other similar things representing the return to innocent aka the childlike/forgiving love of the other individual. Or the sentiment of finally having those gas pill! Every now and then I get a little bit reckless and I dream of something wild! <- A boring teachers job and needing good food! Or the teacher is metaphorical for the musicians personal experience in general. the boring side of life and just needing food. And if you consider the 80's and popularity of sushi restaurants or the ability of those of the rich or money to spend to go to a Japanese restaurant. The ninjas may finally be explained! Anyone ever count the people in the different scenes and their order? There is a partial countdown at certain points almost. If not that is kind of interesting. 6/5/4/3/2/1 in different orders. 1/3/15/16.5or17... I'll also assume this song was long ago related to a food or gas pill commercial! (Note lyrics: "Living in a powder keg and giving off sparks" and "Once upon a time there was light in my life. Now there's only love in the dark!!" ><) To be a little funnier still. The part about how many years have gone by could be about how long someone holds in their fart! 8d The ultimate redemption for gas releif!! From the ultimate 80's ballad! (That or it's how long someone has had serious gas issues!! ;d) The beginning lyrics "I get little tired of you never comin round" in the gas interpretation would have to be being constipated initially...
  4. Get out of my thread! Go help someone else where you are wanted. Or drop the attitude. And yes it is way more than enough. That was only a paraphrase of the attitude you are masking. And nobody frustrated enough is going to put up with your attitude because you have the room to be so flipped. Get lost!
  5. No sweat off my back. Not my fault if you want to come to a help forum and act like a complete condescending prick! maybe consider how you talk to people next time! Get rid of your damn attitude! Nobody should condone you masking a bad attitude like this and acting like you're trying to help someone! I have enough stress to put up with these constant errors. I'm not putting up with your attitude also!
  6. Sorry but I have no idea how to do that. So, I can't. I already have a shortcut for it on my desktop but all instructions are for windows and target. I don't know which thing is the equivalent or appropriate place to stick it to know if it's working or not. Can't find anything that explains it either on google. No idea how to do the rest. Or will have to read up on it and try it. And you might want to spell it out since I have no idea what on that page you gave would be appropriate to this or any situation. You like the rest of the linux community need to learn to write and use appropriate information instead of insulting and bashing everyone in the head who is not familiar with the information, which is not formatted for anyone who is not familiar(Which I cannot control under the current circumstances), and is impossible to learn from. I don't have a clue how to do any of that. And that info does not give any idea without prior other knowledge to do so. neither do any of the linux documents on any of the major linux sights. They are all written for people with specific already existing knowledge and do not help anyone trying to learn or become familiar to use them. It's the single biggest problem with linux. Besides the reason that problem exists. You have to understand what is needed for someone to learn the things for those documents to be useful. As this is a problem with every single last linux document on the Internet. Nobody can learn any of it to get further! sorry if this makes yo angry but I'm so tired of everyone linking documents like this and expecting them to be useful. Nothing in those show what is needed or any information to do that. I've been using linxu for a while but because of this garbage haven't been able to learn because the information is so spread out and hard to put together if you don't already know it. there is a reason learning to write from a technical standpoint used to be considered so important. And this is it. Audience!!!! too many children or greedy people in the linux community(probably this problem started as so many were charging so much money in the 90's for teaching linux and the info probably become hidden for them to make money! As tends to happen in that sort of situation.)
  7. I'm using KDE Plasma atm. whatever the latest one is for Fedora 24. Not sure where it lists which version. If it matters the install of fedora 24 is default with Gnome. But I installed KDE on top of it. I'll have to try the force-gfx-direct things(Would this work in the steam launch options?). I was trying before but couldn't figure it out. I can't get a shortcut to be made on my OS.... I was wondering about the Pulseaudio thing too. Still trying to try these out. It freezes the entire computer. I can't move mouse or use keyboard. The only thing I can do is hit the little button the front of the computer and hard reboot the computer.
  8. I've been trying to get this game working for a few days and each time I reinstall or try to fix something it literally gets worse and worse problems. I'm from the in game freezes to of various sorts, to game freezing my whole computer and requiring reboots manually from the front computer button, to now every time the game is launched it puts me to the login screen or basically it's locked down or is logging me out of my desktop when I start the game. How is it possible this game starting literally is seemingly controlling functions of my OS....? Player.log <- From a fresh reisntall and crash... Behavior did not change. Specs: Fedora 24 x64 Phenom II 1100t 560ti 1gb (GF114) 367.44 drivers GA-970A-D3 motherboard Rev1.0? 8gb (2x4Gib) 1600mhz(technically 1860 or 2000mhz but set lower) Edit: Deleted Prefs again and restarted the game from the folder instead of steam this time.... Seems to have started up properly finally. Now I have to see if it keeps freezing withing a few minutes of starting a game or after going into the VAB/SPH. the ships in the open/load ship window do not fit and overflow the window they are in in the VAB/SPH. After a few moments the sound stutters and the game and comupter completely freeze up. I can't get past this atm. https://www.dropbox.com/s/xfad70a5cy23ed9/NewPlayer9_23_1.log?dl=0
  9. No, you could run it so they wait for each other with a little lag if it's less than the needed lag for the program. If it's divided up well it could be done.. You just have to do it right. It is possible to make something parralel and still time it.
  10. That is why I asked if there is a way to use extra cpu/gpu power to do those parts connection calculations in separate thread and apply extra of the fairly decent amount of CPU getting it right. Or at least providing an option to the current game to extend parts. It would be nice if there was an option to at least try this for larger ships. The other reason seperating manually could help would be to maintain independent ships intelligently for docking and making more complex ships potentially. Say if you want to reference shortcut of Ship A while docked to ship B. This could help with separating shortcuts(Currently the are mushed together upon docking) and possibly simultaneously processing if it used this reference at all. But anything automatic and under the hood would be great too. I'm surprised they can't just use the rest of the system resources to try to allow it to automatically run on different threads. Even if it slows down the game a hair or uses excess resources, even badly... People with large ships are already used to this anyway. Usually that is a case of getting to 20 fps max or even 5 fps in some cases and not wanting the game to crash. As opposed to keeping 60 fps. I have an old computer and this game has plenty of extra resources to use on the CPU and most of the rest of the system. Anything to get more parts and use more of the system could be invaluable. Particularly for docking and large ships. I have at least 5 more cores with at least 66% headroom to use up each while the game is running. That could get a good amount of ship going. Even if it's slower or used fairly inefficiently. Or for something weirder. What about something that intelligently separates certain main parts connections in a separate thread but keeps other parts like struts in a main thread so struts are always holding things together better... Then if you know where the weakness will happen, assuming there is a relative weakness. you can strut it! >< (This is where knowing or dictating the weakpoint could help.) Either way, I still think doing the parts connection stuff in multiple threads, even if innefficient would be fantastic. Even if you loose exponential gain or more per core/thread in doing so. I'm always so surprised there aren't more software solution to these problems being implemented even if it's not ideal. Even just to give people the option to use the rest of the system to try stuff. Maybe in doing so they will find fun ways to make things like non stiff structures like string and long cords! >< Extra ways to simulate buildings being destroyed or having earthquakes on planets! 8D
  11. I'm still on my normal setup: Fedora 24 x64 560 ti 1gb(GF114) 367.44 drivers Phenom II 1100t GA-970A-D3 8Gig(2x4gigs) 1600mhz DDR3? Ship:(With modded parts needed to play. They are stock duplicates with weight name and thrust modifications.) https://www.dropbox.com/s/4azi4dqnzmjg5lt/Orion1.1.3?dl=0 Player.log: https://www.dropbox.com/s/mfd3vroaqk55sva/NewPlayer9_21_2.log?dl=0 It works really good on my computer. For 2300 max parts. It loads ok(Again, for a 2300 part ship). And once loaded it moves around really good(use low settings though.). It has fairly high FPS for 2300 parts and flies at a good speed that you would expect to get to orbit in a good amount of real time. Only problem is it is gauranteed to freeze my whole computer up at some random spot on the way to orbit. So I can't even manage to get it around Kerbin save and hope for another freeze not to happen or whatnot. not sure what to think of it but I;m so close to flying this thing it's not funny! I keep freezing around 6k or 15k or whatever it happens to freeze at. Not sure if there is a pattern yet. This is the old orion but all the engines are one item each with values modified as if it were x amount of engines to reduce parts counts. No where near as laggy as normal. Just place ships in your save file and parts in the gamedata file. If desired there is a booster you can put in subassemblies for your save file but I'm not sure if it's the right one. I didn't check. But there is a ship with and without the correct boosters. So it's not important. This ship should literally be in orbit and traveling around the solar system. But these system freezes keep stopping me. Tip: if you fly it and it starts to move backwards just hold in the other direction and use RCS and SAS. It will be able to fix itself. But it likes to drift sometimes before like 300m/s. But it is correctable if you hold down the opposite direction until it corrects completely. Edit: BTW, I'm not using mods per say. Just my modded parts in a normal install from that zip file. They are stock parts with a name, weight, thrust modded values. Nothing more. But I put it here just in case. Shortucts: Abort: Dump all ore Break: Reverse all non engines/revert drill, thermalpanels, turn off everything but engines. Lights: Toggle lights/Klaws Gears: Extend/turn on Drills(non toggle) 0: Toggle Nuke engines 1: Toggle Rhino engines 2: Toggle Mammoth engines(non booster version) 3: Toggle Vector engines 4: Toggle Terrier engines 5: Toggle Poodle engines 6: Turn on ISRU Liquid fuel + open 1/4 thermal panels(If not liquid fuel one of the other 4 options) 7: Turn on ISRU Liquid fuel/Oxidizer + open 1/4 thermal panels(If not liquid fuel/Oxidizer one of the other 4 options) 8: Turn on ISRU Oxidizer + open 1/4 thermal panels(If not Oxidizer one of the other 4 options) 9: Turn on ISRU Mono + open 1/4 thermal panels(If not Mono one of the other 4 options) For boostered version simply hit spacebar/stageing to activate boosters. No buttons required. For non boostered version turn on 1/2/3 and you will need fuel cheat. Edit: I have been having problems with loading the game initially. I think this may have to do with my raid drive going to sleep randomly on me. I just moved all my games to it for space from my SSD. Could this be what is causing the random freezes? I'm currently moving my game back to my ssd to see if it helps alleviate the issue. Edit2: Fresh install. Windows sizes all over the place before loading. And freezing without mods... This is some other game issue! 8\ it freezes my entire computer now every time I try to play. And it's a fresh install. I'm not putting up with any more of this.
  12. The game needs a lot of work. I guess it's a good start but they need to take it a lot farther!
  13. Found the game!! Alien Legacy! It's amazing these games all have voice overs but modern games can't afford to get it. It seems they can only get voice overs if they spend more than 10 million per actor.... 8/ the modern gaming industry is a pathetic, greedy, putrid place. Maybe they need to all get off their overripe butts and start doing the voice acting themselves and put themselves to work and learn to be useful... Speaking of which why not drag back Felipe and force him to do voice work for Jebediah for the sheer fun of it!! >< Then make everyone else at the office to the voices for everything else! 8d Then either wing it or get some crappy page on how to do voice acting with basic tips and have everyone go at it for fun!! >< And for gods sake! The script in this game is like reading war and peace compared to most games. Everyone should be ashamed of themselves!!! Just look at what a little work will get you in a game!! I mean, holy crap, you literally have to shut up the voice acting in this game because there is so much of it!! Another really expansive game was Albion!
  14. I'm trying to remember the name of a game I used to play. It was a DOS/windows3.1 game(Not sure if 3.5 floppy or early CD.). It was a space game. You were a colony ship, or something, and entering a new area of space. Another colony ship was supposed to have arrived before you but was met with problems. You get to find this ship and find out what happened to it at some point. The game uses multiple perspectives. You would establish bases and do pretty much whatever you wanted. There was no hand holding but there was a clock running in the background for events to happen. I know I spent a lot of time flying around planets that all had grids and you would scan and look for stuff. It was kind of like an old version in that sense of no mans sky but there was a lot more too the game. You would build up industry and resources and all the details of colonies and whatnot and have to get the means to explore where your ship landed. Every game was unique I think... It was not 3d. It was 8 or 16 bit. and it was a late 80's to mid 90's game. It was not master of orion or any economy game. You were stranded in a new area of space. Any sightings of living aliens was a major thing in the game. Although I think you could find artifacts... You could go to solar systems or something as you wished and explore a large are of space. there were lots of planets to visit. You could literally go down onto the planets surface and start colonies or explore it and look for things. The palnets were in grids. And you could also leave them at will. Each unique. In fact you had to leave during exploration a lot for various reasons. Especially at first as you tech was lower. Your colonize you could build up manually or automate as it became more advanced. Obviously this describes a lot of games but.. Ringing a bell for anyone?
  15. I think they just need to improve the career mode. Or add more options to it. Say if the tech tree and other things weren't a tree, which is unrealistic, but like older space games and you got the items through various more realistic means. Say, you can talk to engineers and spend real time having the tech developed and put money into it with chances of failure or the option to switch subjects. Random stuff with engineering firms working on items you can get from them permanently instead of simply testing random items. Look at every space or non space game from the mid 90's to the early 80's and pic something interesting. That is where all the better designs were.
  16. Is there any way with the current game to make it so instead of becoming a single ship you can choose to have docked ships, or some other feature, separate parts of a ship into different CPU chunks? Say if you chose to you could have all docking connection maintain separate or create separate ships even when connected so it is processed separately in different CPU cores to help get larger ships? And then expend, or give the option too expend, more resources for this type of setup if desired or needed to process the connection between them? I personally have plenty of extra CPU and GPU to spare and would gladly use it to run larger ships. If you could even have thing in game that lets you look at the ship parts and designate them as a processing chunk artificially and dictate how it works it would be nice. then we could build more interesting things. Hell, could a mod be made for this? Edit: I was reading something about multithreading issues with the game and unity. I was curious if this was a pure funding problem could they just do(or have the thought about) a kick starter to get the funding to fix it or do whatever work was needed?
  17. It's a joke on his name. Nothing more. It's mean to be very cheesy. the punch line is he's not "Scott" enough. The whole joke simply revolves around his name "Scott Manley". Nothing more too it. The rest is the setup for the last part of the joke. I've noticed a lot of people from scottland/ireland and similar places seem to like very cheesy jokes... So I made one. It's supposed to be that cheesy. That is why I put Scott Manley in quotes. it's a literal "Scott Manley" joke! Edit: Maybe I should have made the last line something like: "He must not have been a Manley enough of a Scott for her!"
  18. BTW how do they plan on having enough toilet paper on mars missions. That is one of those things I imagine they cannot manufacture on mars... Or will they be wiping their bums with clothes and washing them.(Also using up water!) How will they wash their clothes?! If they are dropping supplies it only takes one failed drop and it will be one excrementsty experience!! (Why is the forum auto changing what I type?! Particularly the world exrementsty. That is not the word I typed...)
  19. It's supposed to be bad. It's a joke on his name. Hence "Scott Manley" joke. Not "Scott" enough. I think it's called a pun! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pun "Puns have a long history in human writing. Sumerian cuneiform and Egyptian hieroglyphs were originally based on punning systems, and the Roman playwright Plautus was famous for his puns and word games.[3][4] Punning has been credited as the fundamental concept behind alphabets, writing, and even human civilization.[3]"" ^ Remember that! We are speaking of the basis of our civilization here!! ;p https://www.google.com/search?q=pun&tbm=isch&imgil=YGcXwGBX_q7oXM%3A%3B1L0FRqL9vhXMEM%3Bhttps%253A%252F%252Fwww.pinterest.com%252Fdeanna_holland%252Fpun-intended%252F&source=iu&pf=m&fir=YGcXwGBX_q7oXM%3A%2C1L0FRqL9vhXMEM%2C_&usg=__W_fhTq3k5CG6bbyHBnW019KxGks%3D&biw=1120&bih=561&ved=0ahUKEwjJvKr_sL_NAhWHqx4KHdz3CT0QyjcIbA&ei=h3tsV4ndJ4fXetzvp-gD#imgrc=YGcXwGBX_q7oXM%3A Always remember, the word awefuls root is in the word awe!! ;D This is something I learned long ago. Edit: I guess it wasn't awfully funny...
  20. 1337 MPH!! The speed of 1337!
  21. If people get upset about flat earthers and conspiracy theorists we need a lot more flat earthers and conspiracy theorists!! ><
  22. I think I was bored and watching a Scott Manley video randomly on the internet. This joke formulated in my head at some point for some reason. Being as he is well known in this community, I thought I would share. Setup: It's one random evening and everyone is in a live stream watching him play something.(probably KSP) The normal stuff is going on in the stream and after some time his wife happens to walk by the camera. Out of the blue a person says: That is one Manley looking wife you have there! After a few seconds there is some response from Scott and possibly a ban! >< Some time passes and the stream goes on as normal. His daughter by chance walks by the camera, Again, someone gives a random response: And that is one Manley looking daughter you have there! Scott responds similarly and continues on with the stream after sipping a bit of some drink he has on him. After some more time passes his son happens to walk by as well. This time someone says: The son doesn't look quite as Manley! There is a random response from what by now is a potentially drunken Scott! A few moments go by and someone randomly types: He must not have been enough of a Scott for her!!
  23. I suggest the idea of a counter to allow you to do a set amount of rotations around a planet. This would allow it to go in warp around the planet automatically so many times and then stop. This could be useful for mining/ISRUs or aerobraking or anything else you can think of. To allow aerobreaking It could not permit warp when it hits atmosphere to allow non physics warped entry time. This could be done by not permitting the counter mode to not use any physics warps and only use railed version of warp, but always go max permissable warp per given the situation(like the current warp. The difference being it would pick back up the rails warp when it can again until the given rotations have ticked down. Then it automatically goes max given the ships specific situation.
  24. I'm currently rotating around EVE in a rocket. I am doing a very large amount of rotations slowly dropping the altitude(accidentally used up my fuel). I noticed that when I warp here to get around into the atmosphere again I am not getting the full amount of drop on the apoapsis. This is because it is not stopping the warp at the 90k mark for the atmosphere but where I pointed it to warp. It used to do this whenever you warped into an atmosphere, I presume to make it calculate various affects. Was this removed as a feature or is this a bug? If this was removed as a feature it is very annoying as it makes finding the right spot to warp very tedious, time consuming, or inefficient wasting more time.
