You can do this in KSP pretty easily. It's fully possible in stock but mods make aircraft oh so much fun.

I've always thought that the way KSP wheels were repaired was like tank tracks in WW2, all they do is stretch the wheel around the rim and replace whatever little bit got damages.

DMP does not work with BDarmoury. The way it calculates collisions makes it so that 1/10 bullets aimed right actually hit and somtimes even missiles just phase through the target.

KSP needs Part/Part Friction. Discovered that it didn't exist when trying to drive a rover up a ramp for recovery. Very had indeed. I ended up knocking my lander over by trying to drive fast enough for the rover to make it up the ramp

My workaround for this involves IR rotatrons and extendatrons with a RCS block on the end, allowing for the RCS booms to be configured into whatever shape they need to fit around any station modult. I would really like something similar to this in stock, and robotics in general.
