It's pretty much this: repeated over and over, with different sizes, in different ways. It's gotta look like a real-ish rocket, cause if it ain't pretty it ain't mine.

I didn't know you couldn't build vessels at the time of questioning. I was wondering what mechanics it used, e.g., "Drag this thing here and that thing here also and you get a combination of materials," or, "Steal this guy's stuff and sell it at retail," etc. Decayed as in something from the depths of 4chan, you know... *whisper* (mean people forced out the nice people) 5 by 5 means all in the green, GO over NO GO, there is gravity, and it exists for things like landing spaceships. Can you land on places? Not mods, but do your ships blow up under no real circumstances? Is there autopilot? Will a mod come and lock this post? It was a reference to NASA mission controllers... (AKA a stupid joke) The last question tied into the playing for free part, like if you could get a large sum of resources, would you be able to play the game with these? Also, one more question: Is it portable? Can I play it at the library? Do I need to download the client?

I was looking at this game, EVE Online. It's a pay-to-play deal, so they charge monthly. Believe me, I would've gone to their forums, but you need an EVE account for that (with KSP you get the option for accounts on each page being different) and therefore need to activate the free trial in order to ask if activating the free trial is worth it. I really didn't want to get stuck in that loop, so I came here. Now: Should I play EVE Online? I've assimilated some pros/cons, feel free to add anything to help me: PROS:........................CONS: Multiplayer.................Pricey Trading things...........Seems restrictive Future-esque............Hard to understand Looks fun..................Seems not very widely used, as opposed to KSP Rapid environment seems like new content all the time Monthly fee Now some questions: (Bonus points if you play it and can confirm this claim.) Is it worth the price? Is it limited to parts? What are the mechanics? How does it function? Is it CPU heavy? What are the load times? Is there a max server capacity? Is it angering to see something be destroyed that you made? Can you make things? Do they get destroyed often? Is it a decayed community? Now some KSP-central questions: Is it realistic? Orb-mech good? Gravity 5 by 5? Are sizes real-world? What about setting? Real world exist? What's the story line? resources like KSP? Go EECOM? Are there little things like Dang-it! or Mechjeb involved? Is fuel a commodity? What are EVE ISP's? Does this matter for all positions, or only the Explorer Pack? Is it legally restricted to talk about? Can one back up craft files? Is there a screenshot button? Is EVE an upgrade-only, career-only type, where you need smaller things to work up to bigger things? What's the Industrialist economy mechanics? What are some otherwise not easily available pros/cons on career positions between the explorer, industrialist, pirate and law? Are there others? Can you switch later? Are there any other major pros/cons? Is the trial worth it? I've heard that you can actually use in-game resources to pay for play time? Is this true? Is it worth the effort? How fast do you advance? Can you support yourself off this income? Are there restrictions/in-game taxes? Are space stations hard to build? Will I have an advantage playing Orbiter/KSP? Does everything get destroyed? How's the community? Is there a chat method? Does EVE have an IRC? Are there bugs? Is there lag? How's the ship-building compared to KSP? What career pack should I get? What would you like to teach a newbie that you had wished you could have known starting off playing it? Edit: So I get it like this: (bold means not really any good answer.) Is it worth the price? It's only $15 bucks. I can manage. Is it limited to parts? Kinda maybe, you use modules. What are the mechanics? Kill people and sell something... this one is still pretty vague.. How does it function? Blow up stuff. Is it CPU heavy? No. What are the load times? Not KSP, that's for sure! Is there a max server capacity? No. Is it angering to see something be destroyed that you made? F*** yes. Can you make things? Yes. Do they get destroyed often? See two questions up. Is it a decayed community? No. Is it realistic? Orb-mech good? Gravity 5 by 5? Are sizes real-world? Unfortunately no. What about setting? Real world exist? What's the story line? Trade route collapsed, life is space. resources like KSP? Go EECOM? Not KSP, But yes, KSP... There's resources but you don't use them except to build and sell. Are there little things like Dang-it! or Mechjeb involved? Yes ish. Is fuel a commodity? No. What are EVE ISP's? Non existent. Does this matter for all positions, or only the Explorer Pack? Fuel isn't a thing, ok? Is it legally restricted to talk about? No one has gotten offended yet... Can one back up craft files? Yup Is there a screenshot button? Same Is EVE an upgrade-only, career-only type, where you need smaller things to work up to bigger things? Same. What's the Industrialist economy mechanics? Still unanswered. What are some otherwise not easily available pros/cons on career positions between the explorer, industrialist, pirate and law? Are there others? No. Can you switch later? Yes. Are there any other major pros/cons? Not really... Is the trial worth it? two weeks of free play? Yes please! I've heard that you can actually use in-game resources to pay for play time? Can you support yourself off this income? This is true. Is it worth the effort? Yes. How fast do you advance? N/A Are there restrictions/in-game taxes? Yes. Are space stations hard to build? Maybe, what I'm asking is how hard a team is to get. Will I have an advantage playing Orbiter/KSP? Definitely. Absolutely. Why? Because I have the highest tolerance for things destroyed this side of the hyperverse. Does everything get destroyed? Yes. How's the community? Not awful maybe. Is there a chat method? Does EVE have an IRC? Yuperoni Are there bugs? Maybe, but I want to know what they are. Is there lag? Not too much. How's the ship-building compared to KSP? Not really anything, more WoWS-y

Accidental Folder Deletion
AlextheBodacious replied to AlextheBodacious's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
This actually works! Thanks! Now to figure out how to mark this as answered... -
Ok, so I was trying to edit a CFG file on an engine to give it double the thrust. I tried this but it kept exploding, so I tried to make it more stable, and the fuel tanks ran out to quickly. I gave them more fuel, and after a long and painful editing wild goose chase ended up quitting and deleting a folder that I (at the time) thought I had made copies of. I cleared the recycle bin, and when I booted up KSP today, I learned that I had eliminated the engine folder entirely. I need help getting it back. Can a single engine file be shared? Do I need to download a new copy from the KSP store? Is there an easy answer? Please help.

Building a Triebflügel

I've seen plenty of weird designs, but this is too much. How drunk was the engineer that designed this!? -
Landed on the Mun... again, except in 0.13.3, because it doesn't take 80 years to load.

The stages of ksp (Looking back on our favorite game.)
AlextheBodacious replied to daniel l.'s topic in KSP1 Discussion
Just for all of you wondering, the side bar and that blueprint screen is directly implemented here. It's unbelievably closely based on that stage of KSP. (P.S. My all time high score is 148,000 plus a landing bonus.) -
How exactly does this correlate with nerdiness?

There goes my attempt at being funny (I did say it was 90% hypothetical, and you can't be SURE that's how it'll go.) -
Operation: Mün: Mission Reports
AlextheBodacious replied to AlextheBodacious's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
In preparations for a base, many tests must be run. One of these is on the recovery systems, or the SCRP. It follows: It lands leaving the majority of the outer tanks full. When the crew gets in, it lifts off with the same engines, (to avoid debris) and uses them to get just past munar orbit. the second engine kicks in and the periapsis is ~20Km. It has a full heat shield so reentry is not a problem, and it gently descends to the surface. -

Get me started on where to send crash files to devs
AlextheBodacious replied to Kirogn 1's topic in Welcome Aboard
Necroposting is replying to a thread that hasn't been replied to in a long time, so it comes back to the top even though it's very old. Also, be nice! -
You may know of the card game Cards Against Humanity, which I recently bought. I was thinking, why not do this on the forums? So I did. And now, I present: Kerbals Against Humanity! The thing is name a kerbal-themed scenario, and have the person below you fill it in with a humorous answer, followed by their own scenario below. E.g., "The most unbelievably stupid thing in KSP is ____" "Jebediah Kerman" I'll start: Bob realized too late that _____ was really _____ in disguise.

What's happening with ksp 1.1?
AlextheBodacious replied to terryammon's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
the whole "talking about release dates" is meant as "don't spam the forums with 'WHEN IS IT COMING I WANT IT NOW!'" type thing, as spam discouragement. This is actually pretty decent when it comes to the discussion, because he's talking about something other than the dates as his main topic. He's just hoping that it all gets better, and it will. Just gotta wait 2 weeks. -
This is really weird but... I had a dream of Squad and the devs. Seriously, this happened. Now read while I tell you about the dream I had last night. It was night (time unknown) and the setting was if a strip-mall and a regular mall had babies. It was all a dark brown, and there was this hall/corridor, where all the squad devs (you know, HarvestR, KasperVLD, RoverDude, etc.) were walking into. They were talking about what they were going to do with the rest of their night. They set up a table and kinda turned the place into their new HQ.... and all these employees appeared and started working. Then some interns and I got one of those estes model rockets and ran outside to try it out. They were talking about how it was hard to see, and I said we should do this in the day. It flew up, I could still see it, it peaked at ~100ft. and fell nearby. It was packed up and they went inside, where they talked about Unity 5 and 1.1, and how it would affect servers. Then there was some dialogue above a culvert near the entrance, and just talking to people in general. They said unity wouldn't work on it, and I contested. The whole thing seemed to light up. Then I woke up.

That link isn't a link, you want craft exchange, and a tip: Practice makes perfect in this game.

Operation: Mün: Mission Reports
AlextheBodacious replied to AlextheBodacious's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
After 6 misisons to the Mün, it was time to set up a home. But before that, a station was to be built. And it was. First the B module was orbited. Then the A, docked, and sent Mün-ward. While heading up, the two solar arrays were launched on direct trajectories, all to a perimun of 20Km. Everything was docked and the station was ready. -
This is the story of how a group of 10 kerbals colonized the Mün. It all started some 135 days ago, 25 days into the save game. Bill and Jeb kerman parted ways as he and bob got into the Münar lander. They said what may have been their final goodbyes and Jeb closed the hatch, leaving Bill alone. They decoupled and Bill pulled back on the joysitck just enough so that they drifted seamlessly apart, in the day of spacecraft ballet that had been going on. Jeb turned retrograde and put on full throttle, burning from 10Km to 2, right above their landing site, on the highlands. 15 minutes passed, and once again, he burned, to now a suborbital level. He postitioned the craft for the burns about to take place. At T+16.30 minutes, he turned on the descent engine for the final time. Gene in the background, confirming the numbers and positions Jeb fed him. "14 meters and 10.... 12 meters and 5.... 6 meters... flaring... 2 and 1 1/2... 1 meter... Contact light! We have la--" Jeb was cut off, to be told operations were nominal. several minutes later he and Bob were getting science and planting flags. Meanwhile, in orbit, Bill was plotting something... their trajectories and angles. They waited, and around came Bill, ready to dock. They got in and blasted off. It took a minute, but they docked, and headed home without a scratch. Thus concluding the first manned landing on the Mün. This is Pt. 1 of 5ish... maybe.

The mun will be conquered, one ship at a time, but I have to go, will update it in ~30 minutes. Until then, here's the SCRP, having been tested just now. And the craft file: Surface Crew Recovery Pod This is one of many. I will album-ize it later. Until then, go rescue some kerbals!

Orbiting the Mun at 20Km, the very aptly named Munar Station: It consists of 2 large solar arrays, a Command/Hab module, a Fuel Reservoir, and a CSM parked below. -
