totm june 2018 Work-in-Progress [WIP] Design Thread

Thanks to work on the Bismarck, the deck is now complete. The bow is a little weak, and rides a little high in the water, but everything is all good, with Bismarck reaching 18 M/s, and while this may be slowed by further construction, It is still faster than the real thing. -

The Bismarck hull is mostly done at 176 parts, I need to rebalance it in the water, and build the deck, but for the most part I am done with the hull, and I fixed the bump in the front. I need to make sure the hull top is level though. I ran into the weird issues that I encountered building the Prinz Eugen, but It's ok now. If I manage to fix that, I might as well try and drop a Tallboy on it. -
SATURNIANBLUE PRESENTS The Asteroid Deflection Mission (From The Asteroid Sentinels) (First rocket i've released for a long time...) This ship is one i've planned on releasing for a while, but never really got around to it. This is the Asteroid Deflector from my graphic novel, ableit with a few modifications. The rocket itself is a stock replica of the SLS Block IB, and the top is a ship with asteroid day, which can intercept and nudge asteroids out of the harm's way. While the above depict the ship in the series, the released version contains liquid fuel tanks on top, as the main engine runs off liquid fuel, but you will have to pump the fuel manually from the top. Mods-Asteroid Day, though a future version will be all stock. The ship has interplanetary capabilities, and the whole ship weighs around 700mTons, and comes in at 302 parts. DOWNLOAD Enjoy.

@Majorjim I do plan on welding the superstructure if I sail it with other ships, but right now I wanted to make sure anyone could play around with it without needing specific parts. I'm not sure that works though.

Work has started on the Bismarck! I've gotten the front half of the hull figured out, though I still need to clean up the borders of the parts. The hull is a little less complex the the Prinz Eugen, so hull part count should not be as bad as it was. I next need to finish the hull, right now the front just kind of awkwardly bumps above the water. Of course, the superstructure is much bigger, though from the side the superstructures look very similar. -
I uploaded the main large secondaries. Pretty basic. DOWNLOAD

I was bored with preparing for the release of some crafts from The Asteroid Sentinels, went and built a bomber interceptor that travels a good Mach 4.83, and probably can do a circumnavigation! -
A Thread for Writers to talk about Writing
SaturnianBlue replied to Mister Dilsby's topic in KSP Fan Works
So I finished Series 6 of The Asteroid Sentinels, but I wonder if there is general criticism for the whole series, as well as the last one. I think the pacing is pretty good, but it may have been slow. For one thing, the main "antagonist" really only had an appearance toward the later half. I tried to make the graphic novel a little clearer to read. Also not sure about characters. Also: Probably will be trying out that no words challenge soon. -
The long awaited finale of Series 6 is here, and the clock is ticking as an asteroid 300 meters across roars towards Kerbin... Yes... That happened... Can anyone guess what the meeting room is inspired by? For Series 7, I might try and carry this save to a career one, because I have plans for a sequel....

Thanks, you could try and weld most of the superstructure with Ubio welding, as many of the parts don't have modules. Thank you, I would have gone for even more detail but I didn't want to crash my computer too much....

If you mean the visual mod, I'm using scatterer. Thanks, I'm using a MacbookPro from a couple years back, and here is your warning: the laptop has crashed several times during the course of the construction...

I'm going to build Bismarck, I want to try and recreate the Battle Of The Denmark Strait, though I don't know if even 1.1 can support an extensive battle with Hood and Prince Of Wales. Thanks! You can like replies in the thread though.

The Saturnian Naval Dockyards Presents! The DKM PRINZ EUGEN The Prinz Eugen was an Admiral Hipper-class Heavy Cruiser, the third of five such vessels. She served in the Kriegsmarine during World War II, and entered service in August 1940. She was named after Prince Eugene of Savoy, an 18th century Austrian general. She participated in Operation Rheinubung with Bismarck, together destroying HMS Hood and damaging Prince Of Wales during an attempt to break out into the Atlantic in May 1941. Prinz Eugen detached from Bismarck to raid Allied merchant shipping, but the mission was cut short by engine issues. After undergoing repairs in occupied France, she participated in Operation Cerebus in a dash through the English Channel to Germany. She was deployed to Norway in Feb. 1942, but was torpedoed by the submarine Trident, requiring repairs to her stern. Later in her service, she served as artillery support for the German Army in the East, among other things. She was captured by the Royal Navy and then transferred to the US Navy as a war prize. After examination, she was assigned to Operation Crossroads at Bikini Atoll, and survived both blasts, and towed to Kwajalein Atoll, ultimately sinking in Dec. 1946. MODS-BDArmory, CAL, Kerbpaint, NAS-Naval Artillery System, WW2Warships, Tweakscale. DOWNLOAD This is my take on the heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen, and has been my main project since the Admiralty M Destroyer. It is fully functional and real sized, at 212 meters in length, traveling at 16.8 M/s at top speed, and coming in at a whopping 1155 parts. I encountered plenty on problems, with the ship not seeming to load properly, but eventually managed to pull it together, despite putting this poor MacBookPro to its limits. How to get it into the water: The clamps may act somewhat kraken-y, but they should be ok, if not attach them to the keel. Load up Hyperedit/VesselMover, sadly a stock option seems somewhat insane for a 20K Ton vessel (also for Hyper edit-Hack Gravity), and a go forward/ type in coordinates (my preference is -73 for longitude, a fair amount from the KSC. Keep the time warp at 1X, and let it fall into the water, but activate the 1st stage first! This should be good, if it isn't, please notify me. Action groups! 1-Shuts down engines 2-Toggles Thrust Reversers 3-Toggles 203MM Main guns. 4-Toggles AA Guns. 5- 105 MM Secondaries *These gifs are from an older version of this ship. The current ship is slightly different. Main Guns firing Secondary Guns Firing (was in old version) Album Thanks for reading, if you find any problems with this ship, let me know.

Errm... Is it disturbing that I kind of feel bad for those guys? The problem now of course is, will Plan Kappa actually be able to commit to its own goals? I'd imagine a potential conspiracy theory a kerbal will create might be "Well, the Mun was actually a testing ground for large scale weapons! This clearly goes to show the KSP has been hiding things from us!" Interesting reveals and build-up this episode, I wonder how you made those effects.

I'm not really sure. I went back to the backup version of the ship, and deleted a space using a text editor. Alright, I'll probably get it released in 0.41.1, so in the end when 0.5 comes out, I will probably make amends, whatever I need to do to get that done. -

Left my Prinz Eugen sailing through the night, speed is now confirmed at 16.7 M/s. I've added the KVV, and the secondary guns are in place. Link to a secondary gun test. Sadly, most times the Prinz Eugen will just splash into the water and not move, even at full throttle before striking the water, which is something I need to fix before release. -

Sea trials commence, with the Prinz Eugen sailing at 16.1 M/s (~31 Kn), which is fairly close to the real thing. Still need to test the secondaries, but the ship waterline is perfect for now. While not shown, the turning seems to be ok. The Time Physics Ratio Viewer is telling me it's at 12%... At 2X warp! Guns are in working order. The steam usage is still slightly in the negative, which means that I will need a medium boiler. -

The daily report on the Prinz Eugen: It's done!... Kinda... The tower is fully finished, as well as the rigging, and small calibre-AA guns have been installed, but now I need to send the 1106 part vessel for sea trials, and begin testing the 105 MM placeholder secondary guns, and I may need to move the smokestacks and subsequently several components in the back, due to a oversight. I also repainted the deck for a more "woody" feel, and I painted the upper half of the hull slightly reddish gray, and the main superstructures slightly greyer.
