[1.4.3] Gameslinx's Planet Overhaul v3.4.0 [UPDATE IN PROGRESS]
Gameslinx replied to Gameslinx's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Scorrud is nearly finished. Should I keep working on this moon? It's a tad on the uglier side. Features: Hazardous Ocean (like Niebietos's lava), 3 Volcanoes, 1 of them major (I can't add lava to them, though - that's a game limitation).- 2,454 replies

[1.4.3] Gameslinx's Planet Overhaul v3.4.0 [UPDATE IN PROGRESS]
Gameslinx replied to Gameslinx's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Lore: NIEBOS Properties: Gravity ASL: 0.6g Radius: 400,000m Rotation period factor 120000 Not tidally locked History: Niebos has had a rather peaceful history. During its formation of a molten iron core, the high speeds at which it spun at caused material to fly off the planetoid. Once the intense spinning had begun to subside, more matter clumped together to create the Kerbin-like planet we see today. Its two small moons, Niebietos and Vega, come from the material that threw off during Niebos's formation. Past Missions The HVS Victor starship launched 2 decades ago. On Niebos's encounter, the monstrous vessel was struck by an asteroid. Eventually its flight recorder landed somewhere in Niebos's great mountains. Perhaps someone could retrieve it? HVS classed starships carried heavy, powerful flight recorders, solar powered and capable of transmitting messages over thousands of kilometres. Unable to penetrate Niebos's thick atmosphere, the radio waves bounce off the lower layers and land in its vast ranges...- 2,454 replies

[1.4.3] Gameslinx's Planet Overhaul v3.4.0 [UPDATE IN PROGRESS]
Gameslinx replied to Gameslinx's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I always hyper edit my vessels around planets to give them a bug check. Sometimes I messed something up with the PQS mods and when scaled space (the planet you see from orbit) unloads and the height map tries to load, the game freaks out and throws you very quickly away from the planet, forcing you yo restart the game after the issue is fixed. Problem is, I was 'splashed down' at Olu'um... It doesn't even have an ocean!- 2,454 replies

[1.4.3] Gameslinx's Planet Overhaul v3.4.0 [UPDATE IN PROGRESS]
Gameslinx replied to Gameslinx's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Thank you! It took a whole load of editing and I hope it isn't too laggy either. Don't get too close to the ocean. Hint: you die ____________ GUYS! I forgot something in the change log and it's pretty important - enough for me to do a separate post for it! THELAI! The battered planet! I can't believe I forgot about this big guy! [1.4.3] Gameslinx's Planet Overhaul v3.4.0 [UPDATE IN PROGRESS]
Gameslinx replied to Gameslinx's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
The problem is that the textures will stop lining up and look a little off, jagged or have a line between. I think its disk looks alright and I don't need to worry about it's rotation - it gives the illusion from a 1x warp perspective that it spins quick- 2,454 replies

[1.4.3] Gameslinx's Planet Overhaul v3.4.0 [UPDATE IN PROGRESS]
Gameslinx replied to Gameslinx's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Lore (kinda want to keep this a running thing. Someone suggested this on another game forum): I can't format it in mobile very well, so this will be a.... Prototype? OLU'UM RELATIVE MASS -> 3.14G CLASS -> Supermassive Gas Giant PARENT CELESTIAL BODY -> Kerbal Description: Formation (3.2Bn Kerbin-Years ago) - A huge coronal mass ejection (CME) from Kerbal cooled off and began to spin in the young star's accretion disk. This spinning generated a huge amount of friction inside of what's now called Olu'um. This clumped, rotating mass attracted even more matter - a variety of gases. Hydrogen, helium... Other solid planetoids such as comets... As the comets burnt up in the gas sphere, they melted, bringing water and eventually oxygen to Olu'um's air. But Olu'um didn't stop there. A young, rocky planet was brutally dragged into the upper layers of Olu'um, barraged by rocks and air resistance. Making it out alive, the poor planet had depleted 80% of its original mass. However its sacrifice was not in vain, for oxygen and hydrogen condensed and reacted on its surface into oceans. Sonus was born. Present day (00:00:00) - Olu'um is a supermassive, gaseous giant. Not too dissimilar to Eve's colouring, this purple monstrosity is sub-nuclear. This means it's nearly hot enough to spontaneously combust. If, or when, it does, the light given off will be brighter than Kerbol itself. Olu'um's vivid purple colouring is because of fluorescent materials in its atmosphere. They react with the oxygen and produce an awe-inspiring glow. - Olu'um's accretion disk is a beauty from afar and orbit. It spins alongside its own gaseous... Guardian? Or destroyer... Mission(s) to Olu'um: - Veronica - Class FT Ship. SSTO. - Veronica set off towards Olu'mium (alluminum haha) skies in 7242 A.D. Unfortunately, after landing on Volux, it was unable to complete the atmospheric entry of Telos, where it burned up. 2 escape pods ejected before the vessel's ultimate demise. Perhaps... They're still alive? Olu'um's Predicted Date of Death (PDoF): 18242 A.D (10242 Kerbin years from now). Reason: Instantaneous atmospheric and core combustion leading to an exhaustion of fuel lasting mere hours. Resulting core will be solid lead, and over 10x the giant's current mass. ------ So what do you think? The science behind the lore might not be 100% true, but I've tried my best. Should I do more of these 'lore fact files'? I won't add the black hole, don't worry! KSP planets are 'on rails'. They don't interact with one another even if directly next to each other. This stops random orbit fluctuations and improves performance. That's why you can't push Gilly no matter how hard you tried!- 2,454 replies

[1.4.3] Gameslinx's Planet Overhaul v3.4.0 [UPDATE IN PROGRESS]
Gameslinx replied to Gameslinx's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Added to the list. Due to the impossibilities of Kerbal (star) supporting a black hole (supermassive massive mass lol) I won't add one in this pack - sorry! But I'll have a go at this suggestion. Moar lava! Interesting! Gravity 0.88, Radius 550 (650 is more than Kerbin, I don't want that yet!), EVE clouds for use as dust. Might give this one a try. It might as well orbit Jool perhaps? This will be a moon with 130KM radius and 0.19Gs of gravity. Shall orbit Scorch to make it worthwhile to visit (also a fuel stop!) For this I need to be able to add particles to Kopernicus planets. I tried this with Olemut. Kittopiatech can do it but I can't save the config to file. Not sure how to write it myself unfortunately. If I can, I'll do it, because it's quite interesting and possibly unique.- 2,454 replies

[1.4.3] Gameslinx's Planet Overhaul v3.4.0 [UPDATE IN PROGRESS]
Gameslinx replied to Gameslinx's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Airbreathing engines: Sonus, Niebos, Volux, Olu'um itself (I wouldn't advise it for Olu'um lol) Closed cycle planets (no o2): Scorch, Fume Before upgrading to 1.1 may I advise you complete your Olu'um mission first. This is because planets have had their inclinations changed and it might get more difficult to account for it- 2,454 replies

[1.4.3] Gameslinx's Planet Overhaul v3.4.0 [UPDATE IN PROGRESS]
Gameslinx replied to Gameslinx's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
That makes perfect sense, actually, because of the massive mass. Silly me! If I ever make another planet pack (I'd prefer to focus completely on this one) that will certainly be a feature.- 2,454 replies

[1.4.3] Gameslinx's Planet Overhaul v3.4.0 [UPDATE IN PROGRESS]
Gameslinx replied to Gameslinx's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Welcome to version 1.1a. Changelog below. @The White Guardian IMPORTANT - Orbits have shifted. If you're landed on planets and on a tight schedule, I advise... panicking... Added accretion disk to Olu'um,. replacing its rings Planets orbiting Olu'um have had their inclinations adjusted Added moon 'Sojos' around Sonus Added moon 'Flake' around Flak Removed irradiated planet Balos Volux's hurricane moves around the planet Teloslate terrain updated to smooth pixellation Dread no longer has green colours, and matches Dres's colours. If you want this change reverted, let me know Niebos atmospheric rework (credit The White Guardian) Sonus atmospheric rework (credit The White Guardian) Scorch atmospheric rework (credit The White Guardian) Scorch now has an atmosphere. This is now fixed as it wasn't loading in 1`.0a, making it airless Planetary textures updated to match the newer planets' standards File size reduced by 1MB Accretion disk now spins around Olu'um Olu'um's heat output reduced - still bring radiators to Verex, though Islands added to Sonus Sonus colouring overhaul to match Kerbin Sojos has the Mun's colour scheme Sonus accurately reflects Kerbin/Earth as an earthlike system Flake gravity reduced to prevent your ship from being wrenched from Flak Olu'um's colouring tweaked very slightly Dread's terrain has been smoothed Added biome maps to Sheathe, however Sojos and Flake are lacking one Corrected science values to reflect the stock system Added more science definitions 2 new Easter Eggs Added planet Thelai _______________________________ EDIT: Removed- 2,454 replies

Gameslinx replied to Gameslinx's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I had in mind that Olu'um was a borderline dwarf star (Hot Giant, more like), that's why you heat up when you get inside Verex's orbit. I read about accretion disks the other day and... oh boy! Edited accordingly. I said nothin'- 2,454 replies

Of course it does! (It scales with Olu'um's rotation. Might need to be made faster. Unfortunately the outside and inside spin at the same speeds, whereas IRL the inside would be much faster. Ah well - looks nice!)- 2,454 replies

[1.4.3] Gameslinx's Planet Overhaul v3.4.0 [UPDATE IN PROGRESS]
Gameslinx replied to Gameslinx's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
You're right, there's no peak. I've checked the orbit and at 3117 there is nothing to crash into. After time warping to max and circulating around the planet, I didn't crash or randomly explode. If you have footage of the bug I'd love to see it! __________________________ Speaking of Olemut, I've smoothed its terrain so that it's not darn difficult to land on it! I can't see the image. It's not loading- 2,454 replies

Gameslinx replied to Gameslinx's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
You say you were around 3117m above the surface. I'm quite sure Olemut's highest peak is well above that, topping 7000. Not sure because I can't remember the heightmap deformity off the top of my head, but 3000 seems very low. I imagine you simply crashed into the peak whilst you were time warping- 2,454 replies

Cheers. I'll update the atmospheres accordingly. Looks like 100 is a percentage. So 150 would be 150%, and 50 would be 50%. Sounds good. Should have realistic enough atmospheres for each planet tomorrow, then!- 2,454 replies

Ah, so you can't move them around, just form the planet around existing ones? So if I keep the anomaly PQSMOD that means I can go to the monolith's coordinates on the new planet and it should be there? This requires extensive testing!- 2,454 replies

You can't add monoliths to planets, it's a limitation of Kopernicus. I can create heightmap / colormap easter eggs, like a smiley face slightly elevated, like the one on ______ If I can add ScanSAT to that, that would be awesome if you know how to!- 2,454 replies
