I just took the best screenshot EVAR
VincentMcConnell replied to Max Grant's topic in KSP1 Discussion
How about this? This set was all one crash. -
That\'s why Mars is almost a vacuum. We need to terraform it.

Here\'s some great official footage for those of you who want to see what a real moon (mun) landing looks like without having seen this before today. It is a great reel of 16mm footage from the Eagle as the landing happens. Film begins at the 10% ignition on the PDI all the way until landing and Neil\'s famous line. Everything is captioned. CAPCOM is Charlie Duke. CDR: Neil Armstrong LMP: Buzz Aldrin CMP: Michael Collins. All the stuff you\'ve probably read about can be heard in their voice transmissions. EDIT You\'ll hear them talking about AGS a lot. 'Abort Guidance System'. PGNS is the 'Primary Guidance and Navigation System'

Well my biggest hypothesis for Mars landing travel for us will be to take advantage of parachutes. More than *one* parachute. Three would probably do it, but Mars has a thin atmosphere, so the goal is to try to get as much of that lift as possible. It will require less delta-v from the powered descent engine when the parachutes finally deploy. The craft can also be lighter in that way. It would not need a dedicated ascent stage. Refueling, however, will probably require a station in Martian orbit.

Showing off - first ejection system? :)
VincentMcConnell replied to Frostiken's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Unfortunately, OP, no. This is not the first ejection system. I\'ve been doing this since before the SPH came out. I used the radial parachutes and would fired the pod away from the plane with the ullage boosters if I had to. Every one of my planes has an ejection system because when I\'m test piloting, I\'m never sure if it will be able to land. -
Is Mimmus supposed to be in orbit of Kerbal
VincentMcConnell replied to Resender's topic in KSP1 Discussion
BlueJayek, when Mars comes out, it will have an atmosphere... We can deploy parachutes in the upper atmosphere, build up resistance as we fall and then burn our engine. It will eliminate the need for a lot of Delta-v and will be extremely efficient. -
Best Rocketry and/or Spacecraft documentary

Like I said... Moon Machines... -
Best Rocketry and/or Spacecraft documentary
VincentMcConnell replied to noneyabidnis's topic in The Lounge
MoonMachines. You can watch all of them on youtube. THEY ARE GREAT. -
Why use a machine to do it for you? It\'s much more rewarding. I\'ve never been able to get MechJeb or rincomp to work, either, but I do all my rendezvous manually. Put a target orbit of 200KM, orbit your docker at 180KM, burn when you are 50.5KM away from the target to raise your orbit to 200 and then circularize. You should end up only a few hundred meters from the target.

Kerbal Space Program Rocket Launch Videos!
VincentMcConnell replied to VincentMcConnell's topic in KSP1 Discussion
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CP066wdmLm My Space Shuttle Launch. I was going to have a commander speak to the CAPCOM, but my friend Jackson went to some Lacrosse thing before I could ask for his voice over. With my Titan II and Saturn V launches receiving good feedback, I took a leap into the future here and went with the old Space Shuttle. NASA\'s Space Shuttle is certainly not my favorite launch vehicle, but it\'s still a pretty cool system and I found it worth doing. My mom did the voice of the CAPCOM on this one and I think she did great. It sounds very realistic! With all three of these vehicles launched, I\'m really looking for ideas for another video, so as long as everyone wants, I will gladly do another one. If you have any suggestions or requests for a rocket you\'d like to see launched, as long as I have the parts, I will do it. Kerbal Space Program can be downloaded from: http://www.kerbalspaceprogram.com/download.php. Remember to buy the full version on the KSP Store for only 15 dollars! Afterwards, you get every update free! (What a deal.) -
Kerbal Space Program Rocket Launch Videos!
VincentMcConnell replied to VincentMcConnell's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I\'ll remember that for my next video. I\'m not quite sure, but I was thinking about a Falcon 9 video. I just need the parts. I just finished up my shuttle video and this one is great. There\'s something a little different about this one, but you\'ll see. It\'s nothing too much different. -

OK. I\'m going to fly this Titan for my own fun and then I\'ll make that Shuttle video I promised. -

That\'d be great. Sounds like a fun one to fly. Let me know when you can send it! -
I was watching that whole thing live. That\'s history we just witnessed. Welcome to a new era.

Kerbal Space Program Rocket Launch Videos!
VincentMcConnell replied to VincentMcConnell's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Space Shuttle Launch will probably be worked on tomorrow. I plan to get an early bed time tonight so I can wake up again and watch the historic launch of the Falcon 9/Dragon to ISS at 12:44AM, PST. -
I believe the number someone mentioned was as low as .04m/s^2, but that can\'t be right. The calculations some have done seem to have given better results.

I may have a name for my space agency to start the whole conquest of space in its entirety. National Space Exploration Association. NSEA. (En-See) I have a few people I\'d like to invite to work in chief positions, but I will contact them privately. I encourage everyone to start an agency! When the new boards launch, the exploring is on! If anybody would like to sign up for my agency or work to make good ideas happen, feel free. Nobody is left out!

Kerbal Space Program Rocket Launch Videos!

SATURN V LAUNCH IS UP! Kerbal Space Program - Saturn V/Apollo 8 Launch (PAO narration) [HD!] I don\'t know if this one might sound a little less NASA-ish, but I am ad-libbing all this stuff, and I try not to go off on tangents (LOL) A sequel to my last video of the Gemini launch. These videos were made in the style of the ones you see of the old launches from Kennedy Space Center. There are some readouts that I miss, but I really am pressed for time throughout the narration. This is my most advanced SaturnV craft and it took a while to make sure all the staging was set. If you notice, I make the skirt separation on stage two fairly early, because due to a glitch, the engines won\'t accelerate the craft while the skirt is there. To properly achieve orbit, I had to get rid of that pretty quickly. Then, of course, MechJeb thinks that skirt sep wants the rocket to then fire its escape tower and the whole skirt sep, LES/BPC jettison is done too quickly. On another note, I do realize that Apollo 8 was not a night launch, but the 'ignition sequence' only shows up at night, and that\'s my favorite part! (Save for the staging, of course!). You may have noticed that the Ignition Sequence started at 6 seconds when it should have started at nine seconds, but that was due to a narration error and it was something I could not fix until I noticed it. Let\'s just pretend the engines delayed a little bit! This was shot in version .15. Kerbal Space Program can be downloaded from: http://www.kerbalspaceprogram.com/download.php for the demo. If you want to have all the fancy stuff, it only costs 15 dollars. Mods are all over the forums. -

I know, I sometimes do that, but it can rarely glitch up. Which might have ruined the whole shot. Unfortunately, I didn\'t do it on my Saturn V one that\'s currently rendering. I have a shuttle video planned, and I will do it then. -
Kerbal Space Program Rocket Launch Videos!
VincentMcConnell replied to VincentMcConnell's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I shall get started on that. It should only take a little over an hour. --EDIT-- Cepheus, just got the raw footage done. Time to edit it, add a countdown, create the IR effect then narrate. It\'ll take a little while to upload, though. I like my KSP videos in HD -
Now that we\'ll have a new forum and we aren\'t supposed to have wars, I have a plan that I\'d like to see how you guys take it. I think we should work together in allied space factions to achieve all kinds of new goals with recognition, funding etc. for our accomplishments. Afterall, this is Kerbal SPACE program. I think we should have a bunch of space agencies that anyone can join. No wars, no battles, no grudges. We will of course have budgets and other obstacles, but this would add a whole new thing to the game. I don\'t intend to have any particular leader for this, but I would like to start my own space program while this post is going up. I don\'t have a name yet, but I can probably take 30 people right off the bat. Then others could make their own space programs. By this time next month, we\'ll have entire cities built on Minmus. Let me know what you guys think. And remember, we\'re supposed to avoid any tension or fighting.
