[stock] Easy Orbiter!
VincentMcConnell replied to VincentMcConnell's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I\'m downloading your stock shuttle into my KSP that is just for stock. -
[stock] Easy Orbiter!
VincentMcConnell replied to VincentMcConnell's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
It\'s already entirely stock. After Kosmo(...) commented, I went and switched the suspicious parts. Anyway, all is well now and it is available as completely stock. I\'m currently working on a Radio Flier IB, which is a heavy payload rocket used to take a LM to the mun and return it safely to Kerbin. -
I finally made a burn to orbit launch!

It is actually kind of hard to believe we can rendezvous with the instrumentation provided. -
[stock] Easy Orbiter!

Radial Decoupler heavy? Hm. I may have gotten confused when I saw it in the parts section. Let me check here, I\'ll fix that right away. And I will take those off. UPDATE: Apparently those parts were FAKES! Somebody had modified them and said Harv made them. Anyway, they\'ve been switched out with the regular radial decouplers and the struts. The download link should be fixed now and the craft is titled, 'Radio Flier Rocket' in that folder. I\'m thinking about deleting all my mods to start from scratch and new... Should I? -
I finally made a burn to orbit launch!
VincentMcConnell replied to VincentMcConnell's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I\'ve been learning quite a lot about orbital mechanics lately. I think the biggest issue is that our instrumentation in this game is rather basic, and so flight trajectories are harder to plan. I can get slightly eccentric orbits with a BTO launch, but nothing too circular. Hey, a little off topic, but would you mind trying a stock craft I just posted in the spacecraft exchange and giving me some feedback? Thanks. -
I built this little rocket, inspired by Kosmo-naut, to use stock parts and be a fuel efficient son of a gun! While it may not be as efficient as him, this rocket is very easy to orbit, and has just enough fuel for a lunar orbit or a free return trajectory. The best part is, it\'s entirely stock. It does require version 14.4+, so all you demo guys better buy the game! Here\'s a picture of it. The mission profile is very simple. It can make high orbits, but I recommend it for 100KM, because low-orbit is just so nice. If anyone needs a nominal flight plan to help them out, I can also drop that in as sort of a guideline on how to orbit this thing or get to the mun, but I\'m sure nobody will have any issues. I changed the craft name from 'Stock orbit' to 'RadioFlier1', so hopefully that didn\'t corrupt it or anything. If it did, please let me know! DOWNLOAD This folder includes the craft itself and a guide to a nominal flight plan of a 100KM orbital mission. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/76061308/Radio%20Flier%20Craft%20Folder.zip UPDATE! The new Lunar version is out! It is fully capable of a trip to the mun, several orbits and a nice return. I have not tested it with a lander yet, but I think it *may* be too top heavy for the payload in that case. Anyway, give this new version a try and see if you can put a Lunar Module on it. Again, it\'s entirely stock! Here\'s the download. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/76061308/Radio%20Flier%20Mun%20Rocket.zip

I finally made a burn to orbit launch!
VincentMcConnell replied to VincentMcConnell's topic in KSP1 Discussion
That made me want to do this and say, 'SECO!' when I cut off that engine. So is the goal here to run parallel to your local horizon, hitting the desired altitude as soon as you reach the orbital velocity of such an altitude? This seems very calculated. Any way you\'d be able to release a more detailed flight plan, explaining the maneuvers and then show how you built that ship? This was a great video. By the way, are you, by any chance, an astronaut or a cosmonaut, because your profile picture and your seemingly endless knowledge and help makes me think you may be some kind of professional in space flight of some kind... --EDIT-- I just made 100x58, of course, not a stable orbit, but it took like two seconds of burning on a very low throttle to get that rate up. I have just discovered fuel lines and I\'m loving them. You\'re probably the most fuel efficient person, though, Kosmo-naut. If you are able to type out a flight plan when you\'re not busy, I\'d probably do better. But thanks for you help anyway! -
I\'d like to put something into a 70KM orbit with an inclination of 0 degrees and have it pass over KSC so that I could see it from the ground. How large would something like this have to be?

I finally made a burn to orbit launch!
VincentMcConnell replied to VincentMcConnell's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Yeah, that\'s a success. I could just use a Hohmann transfer to put that to 100 after already being in orbit. -

Yes. I\'d like that a lot. -

I guess so. -
Mercury Mission Video - In KSP
VincentMcConnell replied to Crimson_Pride14's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Not many people are lining up to sign up for NASA, man... And to be honest, I would be REALLY careful about going there to work on the SLS. If their current track predicts the future, this is just another one of their stupid 'we\'re going to do this, we swear!' things... You might have better luck at SpaceX. -
So you know how most times, we burn until our AP hits 100KM and then wait until AP and make the circularization burn? Well I finally managed, I\'ll admit, the pitch was REALLY dramatic, to, on one single burn, make it all the way into orbit from start to finish. The only time I MECO\'d was to separate stages, but afterwards, the engine was right back on again. I also had to use really small amounts of thrust in short impulses, but keeping it running the whole time. So, if you manage to accomplish this, let me know. I\'d like to see if someone could come up with some good techniques to do a burn to orbit of 100KM circularized. That\'s all!.

Mercury Mission Video - In KSP
VincentMcConnell replied to Crimson_Pride14's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Wow! I really enjoyed this. Liked and favorited. I bet Harv could use you to help make trailers and promo videos for the game when it gets a little more developed, too. Are you planning to go to work at NASA or something? -
Space Probe 'Messenger' passes its Perikee of 100KM. This photo, taken at an altitude of about 103KM shows the probe soon to cross over KSC, transmit all its data and then swing back out again to 1,000KM. The orbit is a highly elliptical orbit. The satellite\'s goal is to figure out if there\'s life anywhere else in the galaxy, transmit radiation data back to scientists at KSC, planning long term missions to Mars (when it\'s released), and measure the effects of micro-gravity on certain Kerbin bacteria. Don\'t forget that is has four telescopes for astronomical observation and four cameras for photo taking.

I put a new rocket I designed at school into orbit around Kerbin (worked nominally the first time...). It\'s currently in a 62 mile orbit and about to separate from the second stage. Anyway, I saw a purple indicator behind me when I turned the camera. I had just jettisoned my first stage booster away and thought nothing of the debris until I realized that debris has no indicator! I scrolled over it and found that I had passed 2 km from a previously orbited spacecraft (Neptune I). After circularizing into this 62 mile orbit, I saw the debris cross underneath me again (it\'s in an elliptical orbit of 100x72). I passed within 300 meters. Basically, an ACCIDENTAL RENDEZVOUS. Fearing this isn\'t worthy of a thread, I\'m going to save it with this: Share your unbelievable encounters with previous missions here.

Pre-Munar Landing Anonymous - A support group
VincentMcConnell replied to Johno's topic in KSP1 Discussion
While in English class (after test) I got bored and drew this up. I decided to transfer it a little more neatly into Paint and then upload on this page. It\'s a trajectory flight path showing all the Mid Course Corrections you should make, the T&D sequence (We don\'t have docking yet...) and the maneuvers to get into and out of Lunar Orbit. It\'s just kind of a drawing of the big picture. -

Get into a 100KM orbit. When the Mun rises over the horizon, burn pro-grade until your AP hits about 12,100. There. Now just WAIT. When you get captured by the mun, practice lunar orbit. -

Hitler finds out there will not be a Mars in .15
VincentMcConnell replied to VincentMcConnell's topic in The Lounge
Oh. I downloaded that pack but it said I didn\'t have the C7 Cockpit. I assume it didn\'t come with the mod. Would you mind sending the whole pack (all the components for the shuttle system)? Thanks/. -

Tiberion, I know this is off topic as hell, but I just noticed your profile picture. What mods exactly do you have for that shuttle?
