Greetings to the KSP community and question about rocket diagrams
Snikersnee replied to unevoie's topic in Welcome Aboard
Welcome! The demo is actually one of the earliest versions of the game, so in my eyes it doesn't accurately portray the final game. Although parts are easy to understand. Engines/RCS thrusters provide thrust which moves the vehicle, fuel tanks hold the fuel for those engines, and command pods hold kerbals, the characters of the game. You need those. -

LENS FLARES!!!!
Snikersnee replied to daniel l.'s topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Diffraction spikes Only the hubble and other refractor telescopes have them. Cameras with lenses have lens flares, and the stock is subtle yet existent. -
Thanks! On KerbalX I have two more and an aircraft carrier version underway. Ekranoplans are just so fun to build.

The Lun-class ekranoplan was a ground effect vehicle designed by the Russians during the cold war, and although I was not trying to make a perfect recreation, I did include six short range missiles. The kraken loves this one, so I limited the thrust on the engines resulting in it having a top speed of around 75 m/s. [Download]

A-wing Interceptor (from star wars)
Snikersnee replied to Snikersnee's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I don't mind. Feedback on the craft is always appreciated. -
A-wing Interceptor (from star wars)
Snikersnee replied to Snikersnee's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
It flies pretty darn well without SAS. Landing is the real hard part. -
Sometimes they don't attach to anything, sometimes when you fly a ship they disappear/are connected to air, and when attaching things in mirrored mode sometimes only the one you placed show up. And their not the ugliest, but when working with smaller parts like the structural panels they show through, and when connecting things on really short differences they don't look the best, although I understand it's my opinion.

I'm not at a computer right now so I'll have to go check later. -

The Name Change Thread (WARNING! ONE TIME ONLY!)
Snikersnee replied to Souper's topic in Kerbal Network
Could my name be changed to "Snikersnee" (With a capital s and without the c) I've changed my steam to it and I'd like this account to be it too. -
Flies pretty well (without hacking gravity mind you), but it has a short range. I have not tried to put bombs or rockets on it but feel free to share a screenshot of it with weapons if you want. Because of the landing gear placement, you have to come in at a very shallow angle, but it's not the biggest challenge. [Download]

So I made some KSP flags that looks like the green steam sale button things. Download There are all 10% intervals, 10% to 90% I doubt that I have to say this, but just in case, I do not own steam or valve.

This isn't really a "fan work". It's more of a notification that a KSP player (who happens to be popular) played KSP. I do like how he did it for charity though.

Pictured is a little craft that I put together for demonstration. The joints on it will hold, but if I were to add fuel tanks, or long wings, then it would flop all over the place, especially in timewarp. On the right, is my idea. When two attachment nodes are within a certain distance from each other, they will both turn blue, and after you let go, then they will be attached not only there, but also where they were attached to the command pod. And to stop it from happening, you could hold down Ctrl, for example. This will make it more stable, and the demo craft I showed is only a very basic way to demonstrate my idea. EDIT: I have no idea why it duplicated. Feel free to delete them all, just not this one.

I feel like the stock heating is way too forgiving. I know there are mods that fix this, but I think it should be in stock. For example, the cubic octagonal strut, has a max temperature of 2000 kelvin. That is equal to 3140.33 Fahrenheit, or 1726.85 Celsius. Assuming it's made of steel, steel usually melts at 2500 Fahrenheit, or 1370 Celsius. Already, it is pretty heat resistant. BUT, considering that it is so small and made out of very thin pieces of the metal, it's max tempurature should be lower. A lot of parts are like this, like strut connectors, modular girder segments, etc. In my eyes, objects not designed to survive the rigors of reentry shouldn't. In real life, any debris that survives reentry is in really small bits, so even big deorbited space stations are reduced to a mere meteor shower. How do I think they should fix this? Lower max heat tolerances, making heat shields a necessity. Add maybe an ablation panel. Something like the OX-STAT photovoltaic panel, but black and with an ablator. Adding these to the bottoms of wings and fuel tanks will make spaceplanes look 10x cooler. (And it will stick with the black/white theme of KSP and NASA.) And finally make explosions and rocket exhaust produce more heat. TL;DR Stock heating is unrealistic and in my opinion should be made harder. Also maybe add another heat sheild. EDIT: Yes I'm aware of the inflatable heat shield being added in KSP 1.1, I just thought that a small, radially attached heat shield like the one in the picture would be nice. (The picture is of the space shuttle's heat shield tiles)

Is there any mod that let's you toggle the lift on wings? Now, before you geeks start, yes, I know that a wing in real life will produce lift seemingly no matter what because of the shape, but the wings in KSP are the equivalent to planks of wood... which is why I (along with many others) like to use them as a structural part. But if you build an atmo craft out of wings (in this game) the CoL is out of place and, unless you get really lucky, this will cause it to flip, tumble, and crash. For example, here is an A-Wing Interceptor I'm working on: It's certainly not the best, but the point is that because it's made out of wings, it always flips, so are there any mods that allow you to fix this? And I don't like to use part mods, so no procedural parts mod please.
