  2. That was a terrible launch TWR on that rocket was way too low and his cos losses were enormous as well as his gravity losses. Basically the best launch possible you turn to 10/20/30 degrees asap depending on TWR and follow the propragrade marker the entire time at full throttle and end in a 70x70 orbit. Not easy to do. Try to get your AP to 65 as late in the burn as you can at full power then burn full power horizontal (between blue and brown) until your AP is at 70 or 71km then circularize.

  4. Also I don't see the allure of asteroids. kraken klaws and 50+ passes through kerbals ATM when I can launch equivalent fuel in 4 launches
  5. So I made my first ring station (with TAC life support mod) and absolutely love it but I just can not figure out what to do with the solar panels there current config works but looks like crap and doesnt deserve to be on this marvel of engineering technology.
  6. No nothing I have in kerbin's SOI has 2k dv unless it is leaving kerbins SOI
  7. Yes sorry I just don't like little SSTOs too much work for 1 kerbal. I have a scooter .3t to rescue kerbals from LOK and when I get 5 at a staion I retrieve them.
  8. Yes the best staged rockets in 1.0.4 were doing 28% payload fraction I believe and SSTO space planes were over 46% There is no comparison. However space planes took 20 minutes to get to orbit and rockets could get there in 7. So what is your time worth? Also space planes are limited to about 100t of payload (runway length/part count) but a well designed rocket can deliver 100-200t fairly easy or up to 1000t if your computer is a beast. Personally I dont like big Fueling stations. I would rather have 15 -20 smaller stations (< 100t) all at 80km spaced around kerbin to make rendezvous easier
  9. Yes this just takes a TON of practice. You can however have some control even with a rock falling out of space. Steamline for more distance and fatten it up to fall shorter
  10. I kind of feel this is a bit redundant and unneeded. SAS does need some work with larger craft it isnt strong enough to counter perturbations and then way overshoots it mark. A proper PDE filter could handle this easy just need to adjust the variables. As for having to do 15 landings on the Mun or 30 trips of harvesting ore I would just cheat with infinite fuel once I have the infrastructure set up unless I was playing a hard no save no revert game.

  12. I recovered a hulk from the Mun and when I switched to a different craft I could no longer return to the hulk as I no longer owned it. This was extra infuriating as I set it on a entry trajectory with kerbin and had to launch a satellite to I could get close enough to switch back. In addition I lost all of my current contracts. My mods were Kerbal alarms TAC life support Anyone seen something similar? Anyone know how I can add 1.5 mil to my career persistence file (lost funds for concurrent contracts I was working)?
  13. Ya I see now that the data is less then it used to be I am still getting data from experments that have already been turned in just not as much. I was confused because some expermintes on kerbin gave 0 data for processing.
  14. I have done it for light weight competitions. It can be done and it can be done cheaply. Most of your cost is getting it to orbit around Kerbal. Only problem is by the time you have unlocked them the Mun is a thing of the past. I believe I landed 1 kerbal on mun and miniums for 900 kerdits but I would have to look it up

  17. Playing KSP again with mods this time. So far I only have TAC lifesupport. What is the other version of mech jep without autopilot? I want to do a Mun lander with correct dv per stage for each major burn but I don't want to enter it all by hand into my spreadsheet. Also what is the mod that allows you to build stuff in space? KOS? SOrry for bothering I have been searching and have not been able to figure it out.

I found that once but was never able to find it again. 3. And here I thought I was being generous giving infinity points for only 20 missions lol. - - - Updated - - - I personally will not fly badly clipped craft. Someone else may be willing too though. No you can not use an ISRU unless it is part of the ship. I think you need about 2700 atmopheric dv to make orbit on a staged rocket with a high TWR. Not sure on an SSTO Spaceplane.
  21. Getting a craft to Minimus is not easy but is quite doable. Landing with enough fuel to take off again would be extremely challenging. Doing it no save no revert nearly impossible. If anyone can accomplish 20 trips within the rules of the competition I will award you infinity points and give you the I BROKE the PRO SSTO challenge badge for both the builder and Pilot. Only 2 badges will be given away Requires TONS of pics Requires a new SAVE "Custom career" with max science returns and funds (to make life easier) All reverts saves and cheats disabled (Include screen shot). All flights must be documented including fund raising and science gathering. All contracts completed must be documented. Builder must complete the challenge before a Pilot can attempt. Must be Verified/approved by 3 SSTO masters Runners up will all receive a Perpetual Motion SSTO badge. Runners up only require 1 approval
