Ok, this is simple, *But I will have to explain to some of you that this challenge is about seeing how fast you can drive using only the 5.0 electric charge and solar panels. - Use the Probodobodyne OKTO2 (Edit:QBE also allowed) core to make a drone rover. (sorry Jeb) - Batteries are not allowed, so I suggest lots of solar panels. (OKTO2 has 5.0 electric charge,only enough for you to open your solar panels) - get it to go as fast as you can and give us the screenshots providing prove so we can see the speed. - The fastest one gets a cookie and a hugh. - New rule: you must stay on the runway, this will make sure everybody is using flat terrain. LEADERBOARD: 1st: Eidahlil : 56.8 m/s 2nd : Martian Emigrant : 56.2 3th : Tex_nl : 54.2 m/s 4th : SuicidalInsanity : 54.1 m/s 5th : Martian Emigrant : 53:8 m/s 6th : Opus_723 : 53.4 m/s 7th : DoctorDavinci : 44.6 m/s Tip: point towards the sun and don't try this at night.

No problem, challenge will start January 1st. enough time. For the challenge, I am now at the first flag ready to start. The best way to time the stage is by making a screenshot here and hit the "W" key as fast as you can. Next step will be to stop close (?) to the next flag and make a screenshot. Then calculate the correct time between those screenshots and that will be your time. Best I can do without a timer mod, you guys agree ? please let me know your 5 cents.

Good explanation of the mod, it's such a small and simple thing and I love it. It's out for this challenge since most people prefer the flags, so I went the democratic way.

Ok guys, my challenge thread is being spammed by pictures of car/plane/hovercraft entrys (cars most by me ) that I have decided to put all our junk here. If you have a design and want to show or discuss it, do it here.

Yes, you will be given all the time to do the stages, but you can do them only once and in the right order. Also, if you fail on a Stage (breaking down, dieing), you will have to start again with stage 1 and the previous times will not count. I do have to say that this is something I can't check, but I can't make the challenge full cheatproof. Personaly I don't care much about cheaters, mostly they are caught by very well observant forum users. The way I can solve this is: Start is January 1st. first week: Stage 1 Everybody gets a week time to make there fastest stage and send in there times proven with screenshots Stage 2 will start on January 7th and so on. Give me feedback if you like this or not AND STOP GIVING ME REP.

Jeb tried the Dakar challenge, he made it to stage 4 but the car is wrecked after crasing loosing all solar panels right before the finish... *Edit: He is still sitting in the car

I thought I've seen it all...I don't know ?! It is The "KERBAL" Dakar, so you little green men go ahead and do what you got to do. As far as worrying about cheaters, kuck em, if you really want to cheat to win this you must feel great. Personaly I don't care who wins, I just want to finish this challenge knowing I was able to create and drive a vehicle to do this. Most people who enter the real Dakar do this for the experience. I don't care about the sponsored teams like "Red Kull" who puts in millions to win so we all can see there logo. Why you think Red Kull is so expensive...

UPDATE: The mod will not be used in the challenge. I'll go for proof by screenshots of the start+finish with the flag and your vehicle (and we need to see the time ) After you finished all stages add up all the times, this will be the total time for the Kerbal Dakar. Don't go back to redo a stage to get a better time, that will be cheating. I like the idea for a badge, any volunteer want to design one ? Done.

I guess a screenshot with the time will have to do, and a shot of F3. But guys, believe me, the mod is so simple and good for this challenge. I will make a post tomorrow explaining it. I to was sceptic, but the mod is so easy to learn. Let Kottabos explain:

Thank you for that information, uploading save files is new to me and the first reactions here gave me the feeling it worked, so I never checked. In defence for the Races! mod, I think it is very simple to use, the best way to time a race. It's a great mod that still works. I know that, Thanks for that comment, but you didn't answer 1 of my questions....

What would you prefer ? Flags or the Races! mod ? I found the mod to be soooo simple and I'm looooooving it for timing. Should I make a post where I explaine ? Or should we stick to flag screenshots ? Please give me feedback. I'm so sorry I've missed that, please notice that setting up a serious challenge + a teenage daughter = not even have time to pie.
