  1. My guess would also be mods... I'm almost 500 hours into a career game, with half a dozen huge space stations like this one, and I haven't had a crash yet. But the only mods I'm using are asteroid day and chatterer, which I know are up to date. I would check to see if any of your mods aren't updated to 1.0.4 before trying anything like a re-install.
  2. Wow.... I couldn't have said it better myself, except for one small detail you forgot to mention... MORE IVA!!!! hehehe I love to dock in IVA....
  3. I like to think they're from one of the other two space centers, trying to follow in Jeb & Val's footsteps, and failing miserably....
  4. Continuing to replace my space stations with bigger, automated ones. This one I had some fun with and positioned over the KSC at exactly 2,868.7 km. Then time accelerated a few orbits. I'm somewhat surprised to say I may have actually gotten it keo-stationary... 20 orbits so far and it hasn't budged a bit.
  5. Replacing all my space stations with bigger, automated ones.
  6. My computer starts to get a little grumpy at 250 parts or so, so I try to keep my ships under 200 parts if possible. And my newest station design has only 208 parts. The worst I've dealt with is having 4 big ships docked to a station at one time... around 800 parts. My computer was not amused.... lol... and you could definitely see a drop in the frame rate.
  7. That may have been the one..... but a trained, professional weatherman not knowing Mars has an atmosphere??? That's grade school science.
  8. OK.... I swear this just happened and my head almost exploded..... The local morning news is on, and they're talking about some movie... I don't know what, I'm not a big movie fan, but one of the guys said something to the extent of "He didn't come back from Mars because a storm caused a big rock to fall on him". And the weatherman.... WEATHERMAN.... replied, "That's impossible, there can't be storms, Mars doesn't have an atmosphere." I'll be carrying the resulting facepalm bruise for a week....
  9. I plan on going to Dres later today... if nothing explodes....
  10. Wow, thanks for responding everyone! Later today, if nothing goes wrong or explodes, I plan on launching my new answer to Tylo.... lol...
  11. Keeping track of everything and everyone without using mods.... (no alarm clock). I'm constantly writing down notes
  12. Hey everyone. I just had a horrible experience and now I'm curious about something. The last few days I've been exploring the moons of Jool, and everything was going fine... until I got to Tylo. I suppose it was my own fault for not doing my homework, but once I tried to land my little explorer ship the nightmare began. It quickly became apparent I was not going to be able to slow down fast enough, and I almost burned up my engines getting re-circularized and out of there. After I was back in orbit I checked the numbers, and even though it's a moon, Tylo is third biggest body in the solar system, with a 0.8 gravity and escape velocity of 3068 m/s. And I'm beginning to think the it's hardest place to land on, even worse than Eve. Eve may have an even greater gravity, but it also has a nice thick atmosphere to add some drag and slow a ship down. The only real issue landing on Eve is not overheating. Tylo has nothing to add drag, it's just you vs. Gravity. So I'm curious everyone else's opinion... In terms of just landing, Eve may be bad... but is Tylo the real hidden death trap of the solar system??
  13. For me it's the possibility of failure and frustration that adds an edge of excitement that's hard to find in other games. I've launched some amazing ships, and made some amazing landings. But no matter how many times I do it, I still get nervous whenever I launch or land a new ship, because there's always that chance of something going terribly wrong.
  14. OK, I have an example where bigger isn't better, my space station shuttles. I have stations in orbit of Kerbin, the Mun, and Minmus, and I experimented with several designs for a shuttle that could ferry crew and tourists from one station to another. At first I built them big, like this one: But later I made a smaller shuttle that proved much more efficient: The second shuttle is only half the weight and fuel of the first, but has more efficient Nuke Engines, and can get to Minmus and back with almost 50% more fuel left than the bigger shuttle. Plus it's easier to dock a smaller ship.... IMO. So in this case, smaller is definitely better.
  15. Granted.... but too many people logged on at once and the server crashed horribly.... I wish I knew what was really going on with the universe....
  16. Wow... what did I do today??? Words can't describe..... Yesterday I build a new ship "The Pride of Jool" and sent it to explore the moons of Jool. This morning Bob was re-setting the Goo tank and spotted something on the surface of Bop from nearly 33,000 meters... too big to be a roock. I'll let the pictures tell the rest of the story....
  17. I tried to play Neverwinter Nights 2 a couple weeks ago, but I wasn't an hour into the game when I found myself daydreaming about a new space station..... I got it bad....
