Continuing to being all my people home for a major re-assignment... and getting really good at these pinpoint landings. This is hands down the best precision lander I've come up with yet. Tomorrow I'm sending a ship for the last remaining three out at Duna. Then the fun begins... hehehe

What's your Favorite KSP Landscape?
Just Jim replied to ThatGuyWithALongUsername's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Actually, the best terrain I've visited, and one of the hardest to land on, has to be what I named the "Rock Gardens of Pol" -
Although he's in his early 20's... Ironically enough it was my daughter's boyfriend that introduced me to KSP. Perhaps a little older than most posted already, but he's still a kid to me. ;-)

How to retrieve a Goo experiment
Just Jim replied to Ikare's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
This is a sort of "science tower" I made for my larger ships. It's positioned right over the crew hatch so Bob or whatever scientist can EVA right onto the ladder, then climb up to reset the Science jr. lab and goo tank. All the other test equipment is within reach as well, so he can collect and keep any test required. It took a lot of tweaking to get the ladder just right so everything can be reached and reset. -
I'm not sure about the efficiency one way or another, but a couple things I might factor into this before gunning the engines. I've found after 1.0.4 came out I have much better luck cutting back the throttle to keep my rocket under 300 m/s until I'm out of the lower atmosphere to keep the drag from sending my ship into a death flip. Drag can be a nightmare... And after I'm in space I seldom throttle up past 2/3rds, but this again isn't for efficiency, it's to prevent any possible overheating on longer burns. My point is, full throttle may be more efficient, but in certain situations it can also get you killed.

yeah, that I experienced when 1.0.4 came out and a couple parts on my space stations exploded. But like now I was really far into this career, and my people didn't die, so I treated it like a huge rescue mission: "Evacuate the defective space stations" lol. I had to scrap the old stations, but I saved my people. If that situation occurs with 1.1, and it isn't too drastic, I'll most likely approach it the same way.

I'm a latecomer, my daughter's boyfriend introduced me to KSP early this spring, when it was at 0.9. I was instantly hooked and absolutely love it. But I'm a little sad I missed out on the early days.

Have to respectfully disagree... my newest flagship has both the Mk2 mono tank and Mk2 inline Clamp-O-Tron. I do, however, agree about the Micronode... I'm not sure what that thing is useful for

Rescued kerbals are all female?
Just Jim replied to space jake's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Yup, same here... I can't remember one male rescue, and I've done around 25 now -
That's fantastic!!! I've only been playing since 0.9. I wasn't around for the earlier upgrades, so I didn't know how that all went. Oh, and myself, I'm only using Chatterer and Asteroid day mods... I try and stay as close to stock as possible... so that shouldn't be an issue. Outstanding!! Thank you!!!

OK, I can't seem to find a straight answer to this anywhere here or on Steam... and what I do read is somewhat conflicting. So I'll just post this and ask direct. And I hope I'm posting this in the right spot. I have a simple question for the developers: Will version 1.1 and the switch to Unity5 support or crash current 1.0.4 career games? I've seen people write they expect career games to crash, but I also read something about the contextual contracts adding to where we are currently in a game, which implies the career games will continue to play. So can someone please, please just give me a yes or no answer. Will out current career's play in 1.1???

How Close are YOU to Your Next Reputation Rank?
Just Jim replied to michaelsteele3's topic in Kerbal Network
I'm not even sure how the whole reputation thing works... but I guess I'm doing something right, I've got over 70 points in the few weeks I've been here. -
Challenge : Single Lander across the system
Just Jim replied to Enkiel's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
ARGGGGGGGGGGG........... hehehe. I have the perfect ship. except it's already orbiting Jool and I didn't bring tourists. But she can carry 4 passengers, is fully refuelable, and can definitely land on every moon except Vall and Tylo, which I was about to attempt. Vall should be easy, Tylo is the real test. Question: If I bring up some tourists to my space station over Kerbin, send this back to pick them up, will it still qualify? I have no problem bringing a couple tourists along for the ride. -
Am I a gamer??? When I was in the Army in the 80's, I learned to play Dungeons and Dragons (the real way, with dice, calculators and lots of pizza) to kill the boredom. A year later I won my first tournament. It's been downhill for me ever since..... Name it... chess, cards, computer games... I'll play... and very likely win...

I have dropbox, but I haven't used it in forever. I'll let ya know when I get it uploaded
-
Not terribly worried about it... we're already orbiting a supermassive black hole, and I feel fine..

What is your naming system for Planes/Rockets?
Just Jim replied to musicpenguin's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Once I got a bunch of stations and colonies I started using the locations, like Minmus Station or Duna Colony, to keep them straight. But ships, I'm a traditionalist, and always use female names. Sometimes Kerban female names, like the Langertrix or Samuki. -
I just saw the new Mad Max... the beginning was a little shaky, but once it got going it was pretty good... IMO. Anyway, it's not 100% Max, but I'd be willing to donate my Lathye Rover if you want This little bad-S can get over 50 m/s and as you can see, got some serious air over Laythe without smashing. May need a little cosmetic work to make it look more Maxish (too bad KSP doesn't have crossbows) but it's already and excellent chase car! Oh, there's seating for 3... I'm just not sure how or where to upload it to get it to you..... never shared a ship (rover) before

I found, much to my dismay, that my flagship, the Annabel Lee, is missing a critical gas line. So I built a replacement, with a couple changes, and sent it out to replace her. So the Annabel Lee II is now sitting in orbit over Vall, and I'm pretty sure I've spotted Vall-henge. I'll investigate tomorrow. In the meantime I also put a new space station over Dres. It's just like my others, except with white lighting. But what's really cool is in the time it took to bring the station online, a few more "dres-deroids" showed up. I am now tracking 32 of them, ranging from class-C to several big class-E's. This really changes my plans... There are so many to play with, and I haven't built a space station into an asteroid(s) yet...

Wait... you want live Kerbals onboard??? I missed that part. I'm almost 60 years into my career without losing one... I think I'm gonna have to pass afterall.

Not a roof... although it looks like it. The bottom vertibre is about 10mm out of whack, and the rest of my spine is tettering on it... after 3 MRI's the Dr's best guess is birth defect I made worse working for a septic company (of all things...) Anyway, thanks for the suggestions! I'm not familiar with a couple, except RCT... I have RCT 3 platinum, and love it! I'm also a huge fan of Sims2, and still have a working mega-hood. Also flight sims, preferably non-combat, unless it's really historical. Anyway, I don't want to de-rail this too much... back to summer

What is your favourite book? A.K.A. what to read
Just Jim replied to Thomassino's topic in The Lounge
Top 3 of my list, in order: Anything by H.P. Lovecraft All the Dune books (including the new ones).... in chronological order. The Necroscope series by Brian Lumley (warning... very hardcore horror, definitely not for the faint of heart) -
Hmmmm... I was going to send a rover to Dres anyway... and I have one that got some serious air on the dunes of Laythe... OK, might smash it to bits, but I'm in... this could be fun. Just gonna take a couple hours to get a rover there. (I don't like hyperediting... feels like cheating). I'll post screenshots whatever the result.
