  1. Oh yeah... if the rain isn't too bad it's kinda fun!
  2. Truthfully, I thank KSP for helping my summer fly by!!! Seriously. I'm on disability, and my biggest problem most days is not going stir-crazy! I would love to go back to work, but my doctors, the Court, and Workman's Comp would flip out if I tried. My brain works fine, but my back resembles a pretzel... So here I sit all day.... Anyway, when I was introduced to KSP earlier this spring, it offered me something most games don't... a chance to really use my brain!!! Now I can at least pretend my KSP career is a job of sorts, and gives me something new, different and challenging to occupy my day. yeah... for the first time in years my summer flew by... Thanks to the Kerbals!!!!
  3. Yeah... lol. Down here A/C is life support. After a while you get more or less used to the heat, although sleeping without A/C can be rough. But the key thing for a two-tree day powerout is making sure we have gas for the gas grill! I can't tell you how many times I've Bar-B-Q'd bacon and eggs for breakfast in the rain... and seen my neighbors doing the same thing! And now they have those super bright LED lights... we have them scattered thru out the house.
  4. This is how I learned... Scott Manley's how to make a precision landing. It's technically for a surface rescue, but the technique works for any precision landing. Once you get the hang of it, you can land anywhere you want.
  5. Sorry, I guess I sounded a little arrogant. I just like doing things my own way.... using someone else's design for anything seems kinda cheating... IMO. I apologize for being rude.
  6. So much has happened... but I'm not sure how to continue this with 1.1 just on the horizon. I don't know if career games will continue to play, and even if they do, would it be better to start over with the new contract system??? But I also hate leaving a story half finished... I'm vexed... lol...
  7. Download??? I make all my own... seriously, why would anyone want to download a ship?
  8. I try so hard to play vanilla... but this is the one mod I can't live without... And now Val giggles!!! I almost fell over laughing! Thanks Mod-people!!!!!
  9. Actually, this brings up a good question... I wonder what a shuttle launch would look like from the ISS???
  10. I don't think we've met... but I love the avatar! 1/10
  11. Myself... I hope it's never finished!!! hehehe I don't really like the idea of restarting a career, but I love when we get new stuff to play with!!!
  12. Yeah, I did that once...... and the worst part is I was too surprised to get a good screenshot of the explosion.... Since then I prefer to go normal speed at the end of a docking.
  13. Always hot here in Florida, but it's also the rainy season, and there's a tropical storm headed our way. Doesn't look like a bad one, but they always knock the power out for a day or two... and I don't have a laptop, only a PC! Someone wanna donate me a laptop so I don't go into KSP withdrawl when the power goes out???
  14. Wow... that is odd. The game recognized my Logitec 3D fine, including the axis.... and I'm running a steam version. All I had to do is go into settings/input hit one of the the Big grey button in Axis bindings and spin my joystick so it saw the right axis. I just tried it again to make sure and it worked fine. If your running windows it can't be drivers.... windows can automatically install a Logitec..... weird. I'm so sorry... I wish I could help more, I don't know why it isn't working for you.
  15. Actually, in the beginning of my career game I focused on collecting science, and kept sending Val and Bob out together. And I've kinda stuck with them since. While I never thought of them as a couple, they're always my go 2 (pun intended) crew.
  16. Really? Hmmmm.... You may have to go into the settings/inputs and manually bind the joystick axis and buttons. It's been a while, but I think I had to do that the first time.
  17. I have a Logitec Extreme 3D, but in KSP I only use it for flying jets. Rockets, rovers and launching SSTO's I use the keyboard.
  18. I live in Florida, just north of Tampa, and we could see shuttles from here when they launched. At night they looked like a big bright dot with a tiny flame. But one night I got really lucky and was in Daytona when one of the last shuttles went up..... that was staggering. Even from what... maybe 100 miles.... less I think... the entire sky lit up a brilliant orange, and it sounded like the air itself was being ripped apart from the force of the engines. It was amazing, and I count myself really lucky to be able to have seen at one night launch up close (relatively speaking) before they stopped the program.
  19. My worst is docking... I'll be about 100 meters out, get everything lined up nice and straight, then make a nice slow approach to the docking port... slowly... switch to IVA for a bit... slowly.... nice music playing... slowly.... slow.... sl... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.......... I can't tell you how many times I nodded off doing this, and how many times I woke up to find my ship already docked
  20. OK, I haven't seen this mentioned or suggested.... if it was in another thread I apologize. But there is one thing I would absolutely give anything to see in 1.1, or some future upgrade, and this is the only way I can think of to get anyone's attention... There is one part drastically missing for all of us Space Station fans... a big habitation ring of some sort. Something to house a decient number of Kerbals. Whether as a whole unit, or maybe broken into quarters or something... something to make a space station LOOK like a real 2001 style space station! Y'all are making giant new engines... why not a giant space station part??? Please??? I'm hoping I'm not the only one in on this... anyone else agree we could really use a big ol' space station ring of some sort???
  21. I'm so excited I'm starting to really lose it, actually... lol. I can't focus on my current career game anymore, and I find myself daydreaming all the new stuff I want to do, especially with the new contract system. I absolutely love the idea of contracts for Space Station additions, and stuff like that!!! Time to build 'em big!!! My big question... what aren't they telling us??? I've noticed there's always a little more to upgrades than what the Dev's let on... so are there any surprises??? I haven't been this anxious about an upgrade in years... and I'm already strategizing how I'm going to play my next career game.
  22. Simple brutally honest answer... My name is really Jim, and I got sick of trying to think of original screen-names.... hence Just Jim.
  23. This is my newest rover, "Kirby", landed on Laythe yesterday. I built this one heavy and tough with I-beams and steel plates. It has 4 rugged wheels, a wide wheel-base, and very low CoM. Oh, and it's using a Mk2 Probecore..... I'm hoping the improved pitch torque will help keep her from flipping when braking. Only using front-wheel drive motors, and mostly just the rear wheels for braking. Although it was originally designed for the Mun, it tore up the Laythe Dunes... and at one point was doing 50 m/s going down hill, hit a bump and got some air without flipping or blowing a tire!!!! I was tickled pink when she landed and just kept on going. This is by far my most successful rover.
