Spin to Win! The momentum tether challenge
DoctorDavinci replied to Cunjo Carl's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
So I hyper-edited Valentina and a momentum tether with a second momentum tether attached into a 13km Ike orbit and managed to bounce the wee girl off the surface of Duna at just under 180m/s ... She survived too -
Kerbal Charter Challenge!
DoctorDavinci replied to HazelPine's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
So I decided to see how much tonnage I could actually deliver safely to your Polar Airport ... Weighing in at a whopping 395.017 tons of which 230.30 tons is cargo, I now present for your approval the CANUKWorks Spruced Moose I started with 37280 fuel of which 17280 was cargo giving me 20000 fuel as my starting point and I landed back at the KSC with 7836 fuel Fuel Used = 20000 - 7836 = 12164 Cost of Fuel Used = 12164 * 0.8 = 9731.2 FINAL SCORE = 9731.2 / 230.30 = 42.2544 NOTE: Imgur is not loading the pics in order -
official Stress out the Devs! (and KSP)
DoctorDavinci replied to sal_vager's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
So I made this thing and figured it might be along the lines of what you are looking for in regards to high part count monstrosities. At first I got about 6 seconds real time to every in game second but that was reduced once I shed some parts and got out of the atmosphere ... Finally ending up at around 4 seconds RT to every second in game (that is until I started dropping probes). I did have some issues in the VAB when trying to set up the decouplers into many separate stages which became a huge hassle with 108 probes (it is actually 12 main probes each with 9 probes attached to them ... so technically 120 probes onboard) so I didn't bother setting up the probe staging ... perhaps the devs will have an easier time setting that up in the VAB than I did if they decide to give 'er a go I am running an A8-6500 3.5Ghz APU (running at 3.9) with 10Gigs of ram and Win10 I tried to upload the craft to KerbalX but the file is too big so I put it on DropBox ... https://www.dropbox.com/s/8yuoohpruc5tmuk/CUBE-MA 1889.craft?dl=0 Name: CUBE-MA 1889 Cargo: 108 Remote Science Probes including a resource scanner on the mothership 1889 parts (1775 in orbit) 2027.371 tons on the launchpad Here's a video of me throwing her up into a 500km orbit -
Kerbal Charter Challenge!
DoctorDavinci replied to HazelPine's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
So I decided that landing and taking off consumes too much fuel so I flew over your Polar Airport with 46 Kerbals in command chairs and dropped them as I flew by ... Thing is only 43 survived Started the flight with 7520 fuel and landed back at KSC with 1941 fuel .... I'm not including the deceased Kerbals in my calculations which means I delivered 43 Kerbals to the Polar Airport 7520 - 1941 = 5579 5579 / 43 = 129.744 129.744 * 0.8 = 103.795 And here is a video of the actual drop .... all who survived landed within 1 klick of the airport -
Stock Turboprop Endurance Record
DoctorDavinci replied to Gman_builder's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I've noticed that when I increase the AoA of my propellers that my rad/s go down -
Stock Turboprop Endurance Record
DoctorDavinci replied to Gman_builder's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Perhaps you should add a note in the OP about changing the physics config as this is the first I've heard about the rpm being limited -
Stock Turboprop Endurance Record
DoctorDavinci replied to Gman_builder's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I think I was getting 12 RAD/s with full throttle and 15 with afterburners .. The P-6 goes boom without the propellors due the lack of air resistance with them removed I found that the key to building a working turbine in KSP is following the same basic principles you would use when building an actual turbine IRL ... You must find balance, meaning balance your impeller shaft before building the cage ... if the shaft ain't balanced it'll get all floppy -
Stock Turboprop Endurance Record
DoctorDavinci replied to Gman_builder's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
So this is what I have been working on ... 172 parts IIRC Got 6 panthers running it but imma thinking I may go to a bunch of Juno's instead although that will put the part count through the roof -
I play guitar and bass ... I'm more of a bass player who plays guitar though lol This is me screwing around

The Aircraft Endurance Challenge
DoctorDavinci replied to Gman_builder's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Dude ... no need to make snide remarks due to you and I not seeing eye to eye Let alone, why bring our disagreement into another thread? ... Are you looking to bring attention to your dirty laundry? Methinks that perhaps you should just let it go ... I don't bother you, you don't bother me Why you gotta go poke the bear with a stick? -
The Aircraft Endurance Challenge
DoctorDavinci replied to Gman_builder's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
@Gman_builder Ummm, I didn't travel straight around the equator ... I took a detour north to see if KSC 2 was still there and then set a heading of 270 until I was close to the big crater where I set my heading to 235 or so and flew until I hit the southern continent at which point I went due west for a bit then I angled a bit north to hit close to equatorial and then went back to due west until I saw the KSC All the evidence is there in the pics ... FAR and Flight Assistant windows are all open as well as the resources tab so there is no way you can accuse me of cheating -
The Aircraft Endurance Challenge
DoctorDavinci replied to Gman_builder's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
This was just a test run but here's the CANUKWorks Arctic Turn ... I only did 1 lap around Kerbin but only used half of the fuel I was carrying so could have done a second go I landed just off of the runway at the KSC Ground Distance: 8 161 878m Total Distance Covered: 8 182 315m In Game Time: T+ 0y, 0d, 04:36:25 -
Just a thought, but would there be a way to link to major changes in atmospheric effect within the game to a MIDI controller that is set up to play certain instances depending on the input from the atmospheric effects data coming from the game itself? It would involve a standalone MIDI software package (many free online) and a means for the package to see changes in the atmospheric effects being generated within the game Possible?

I would have continued to run fights for this tournament, however, due to the way some of the challengers have designed their planes around the command chair, the Kerbal that gets spawned on load has nowhere to stand beside said command chair which is a requirement of Take Command in order for the mod to get the Kerbal to board the command chair. This results in the Kerbal being flung away or just going limp which results in the host having to go through the song and dance of moving the Kerbal out of the way of the chair, zooming in to find some little piece of the command chair to click on, board the chair and then moving the vessel And that is if the Kerbal flops and lands on the craft ... If it lands on the ground you gotta chase after the craft, somehow throw your Kerbal in its way to stop the craft from running down the runway and the zoom in and try to find a part of the chair to click on so you can board the green little guy/girl Just too much of a hassle to set up the battles ... If proper attention was paid to this aspect of the hosting I would have continued, however I'm doing this for fun and having to go through the above song and dance makes hosting too much like work

CUBE-MA 1889 launch to Eve - 108 probes onboard
DoctorDavinci posted a topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Made from 1889 of the finest parts in the Kerbal universe, weighing in at 2,027.371 tons and containing 108 remote science probes, I now present for your approval the CANUKWorks CUBE-MA 1889's launch to a 500 km parking orbit about Kerbin Here's the next part ... I drop 2 probes in Kerbin orbit then set myself up to slingshot around the Mun and pass through the SoI of Minmus dropping 2 probes at each encounter and then I slingshot myself back around Kerbin and burn for Kerbol orbit -
The Cubesat/Probe Bulk Delivery Challenge!
DoctorDavinci replied to The Optimist's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
So you say the rule change wasn't targeted at me in particular, however I am the reason for the rule change? ... Let alone my craft is about the same size as Cunjo Carl's, just has more parts 1889 parts with 12 probes each with 9 additional probes attached ... 120 probes stuffed inside her ox·y·mo·ron ˌäksəˈmôrˌän/ noun noun: oxymoron; plural noun: oxymorons a figure of speech in which apparently contradictory terms appear in conjunction You didn't want to allow my solution to your challenge so you changed the rules Whichever ... your challenge, rules subject to change -
The Cubesat/Probe Bulk Delivery Challenge!

I just think it's a shady move to change the rules just to thwart my attempt ... Not cool -
The Cubesat/Probe Bulk Delivery Challenge!
DoctorDavinci replied to The Optimist's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Seriously ... What is the point then ... Of all the rules this is the dumbest I'm thinking you put that there because of my monstrosity that I created ... If I told you what I really think I would be violating the rules of the forum Good luck with your challenge, I'm not even going to bother continuing -

The Cubesat/Probe Bulk Delivery Challenge!
DoctorDavinci replied to The Optimist's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
So now that I have had clarification of the rules for this challenge, I have taken a CANUKWorks AIM-329 (Autonomous Interplanetary Monstrosity) and stuffed it with some probes Made from 1889 of the finest parts in the Kerbal universe and weighing in at 2,027.371 tons, I now present for your approval the CANUKWorks CUBE-MA 1889's launch to a 500km orbit around Kerbin in preparation for a trip to Eve (No Mods ... Totally Stock) -

Sorry 'bout that ... I guess I shouldn't mention Beaver Tails either since they enhance the skating ability of all who eat them on the Rideau
