  1. This is fantastic. Your shadows and atmospheric details really make the planets feel real.
  2. I like to do a practice test, then grade it myself to find out exactly what subjects I did poorly on, then I can go and review those subjects specifically.
  3. When the Wollywogs turn and stare at you but all your Pikmin are in one place ============== You know, the context for this isn't much better.
  4. 201: A Space Odyssey: Roman civilization achieves spaceflight after a series of miraculous breakthroughs following the discovery of a strange monolith.
  5. An airplane can get pictures like this: You could do better if you were really sure you weren't going to hit the rocket. I think drone shots right at launch would be more exciting. You could even have a few flying around the landing zones for Falcon 9. You probably don't even need anybody piloting them, they can just be trained to fly "close but not too close" and to look at what's going to be interesting. In space, you can just fly around your spaceship as long as it's not accelerating, like this: What are the flight restrictions like for stuff like that? I'm sure if Elon Musk called up the range and said "Hey, I'd like to launch this monolith to the moon on a giant rocket, but also I want to have a drone hanging out nearby while it happens" they'd probably be able to sign him up for "a giant rocket + a drone" as opposed to the usual "one rocket"
  6. Maybe you'd just want a drone hanging out somewhere near the craft at the time it launches. Not sure how high you could get with those, but we do have some pretty cool drone shots of Grasshopper. An orbital rocket gets going fast really quickly, so your only have the first moments, but it'd be at least a little bit of a new perspective. Maybe you could use a fleet of drones to create a VR experience out of it.
  7. The Universe understands itself, at least to some limited degree.
  8. The Fault in our TARS: Humanity is doomed when TARS malfunctions and fails to dock with the spinning Endurance.
  9. Just think about all the crazy arthropods we don't know about that existed in past eras.
  10. You can imagine those images over the paper, and then trace them.
  11. Good thing the version of 7zip I have on my computer is not more than two years old.
  12. I came up with a nice conclusion to a similar problem regarding AI, but I can't remember what it was. Anyways, most of the atoms that were in you at that time are probably somewhere else now anyways, too. If that helps...
  13. I spy a Falcon Heavy side booster nose cone. This place must be pure engineering awesomeness to work in.
  14. New SpaceX motto: Progress only happens as fast as you can throw away your old crap.
  15. The new Falcon 9 looks like a giant version of a kid's toy, a really durable one. It looks like it can take atmospheric reentry like it's a light breeze.
  16. I, for one, don't care how advanced and reliable my spaceship is, if I'm going to Mars I had better have a healthy supply of duct tape in the back. It'll be needed.
  17. First part is the sunrise and walk over to the vehicles. If you go to Valles Marineris at sunrise in Space Engine you'll get the idea. It's also more of a friendly joyride, they're just really fast vehicles. I think it would be cool to animate a music video for that piece, and for Soyuz as well. I'd have to see what software would work really well for that, especially if I want to do it in pixel form.
  18. This is a good thread.
  19. Maybe, but Elon is notorious for following through on them.
