  1. I remember this from somewhere...
  2. That would be pretty awesome to have Crew Dragon operational before the end of the year. Would that mean I can get an internship on the ISS?
  3. Only a foot and school gets canceled? Up here it takes more than that. I got a message on my recently-created Soundcloud from a friendly robot who is a "talent recruiter" and would like me to buy her advertisement packages to help me spread word about my good music. It seems I will have to stay vigilant for those pesky robots. A few real humans have listened to my music, though, including the creator of the software I use!
  4. Besides, the aluminum ones look that much cooler when they get all melty.
  5. The Sun is a giant, active sphere of plasma constantly emitting unfathomable amounts of energy in all directions through nuclear fusion in its core. Enormous twisting magnetic fields siphon gas and plasma about in its atmosphere, occasionally breaking and flinging large quantities of ionized matter towards the planets.
  6. So how many Falcon Heavys have been built? Just the car one, or are there more rockets ready to be assembled for SpaceX's upcoming paid launches?
  7. Clear, with a slight chance of International Space Stations. Will have to see if I no longer have to get up early to see Tiangong 1.
  8. When you are instinctively apprehensive about pianos in video games.
  9. Chamber 8 is a tough one. If you can get to the orange portal platform, then put a blue portal on the ceiling or floor and go through it repeatedly you should eventually be able to rotate yourself into a direction that can get you to the platform. P.S. I gave up on putting the pellet through portals on that chamber. What I did was I crawled under the platform to get the radio, then used that as a baseball bat to hit the pellet into the receiver. Eventually it worked!
  10. The Saturn V has a ton of detail - even the internal structures within the stages tend to have two cylindrical segments like fuel tanks! All the stages separate and the lander fits in the interstage. You can dock the CSM and LEM. The only thing inconsistent I noticed was the color of the fire pieces on the second and third stage engines - they were orange instead of blue. An easy fix for someone with lots of Lego pieces around. It's a really good set, very sturdy too.
  11. Today the temperature got to a whopping 14 degrees Fahrenheit. That's 14 above zero!
  12. Maybe you could have volume scale somewhat with distance on hyperbolic trajectories, so that the theme gradually fades in as you approach the planet and out as you leave it. Intensity of the music could increase as you go faster, closer to the surface.
  13. I already wrote a theme for Eve once. I could do the other planets. Also Earth, Mars, the Moon, Europa, Saturn, and most recently the Sun. All of those could be adapted to the KSP planets.
  14. Mars and Jupiter also looking nice together this morning. I read that Saturday they will be 0.2° apart!
  15. I went out to see the supermoon as well. Very clear, and very bright. The sky was blue! Almost like the tenuous atmospheres of Triton or Pluto.
  16. "This [static fire] test is currently expected to take place on January 6, although – as always – these dates can move around due to numerous factors such as readiness, range authority and weather." https://www.nasaspaceflight.com/2017/12/falcon-heavy-maiden-static-fire-test/ Looks like the static fire test for Falcon Heavy is scheduled for Saturday.
  17. Water doesn't like to be liquid, and when there's no atmosphere around it it refuses to be anything but vapor or ice. So no, unless you have a toroidal moon going all the way around the planet with high gravity, a thick atmosphere, and ocean covering the whole thing (which would theoretically be stable, if difficult to produce).
  18. Nope, its -19 outside so that's probably for the best. TUBM thinks professional cup-stacking is weird.
  19. Granted. You always have a negative electric charge which causes you to get zapped all the time. I wish for Aurora Borealis.
  20. Do not rotate the Magic Boulder about the Z axis during periods of high solar activity.
  21. When you have a cold but your immune system goes on hold just long enough for you to build your Lego Saturn V. Good to know my cerebellum knows its priorities!
  22. Happy 2018 from GMT-6! It's going to be a whirl!
  23. Remember that thing where SpaceX said two people were paying them to go on a Moon flyby on Falcon Heavy in 2018? It's that. I'm thinking it's probably going to get pushed back to next year, but I'm hopeful! Who knows, maybe they'll have someplace for me to stay by the time I'm ready to go to the Moon.
