  1. Pretty sure 'Oumuamua is smaller than that ship.

  3. "The next-generation Orion capsule will have enough space for six-player Super Smash Bros matches!"
  4. Do not touch the operational end of the Boulder. Do not look directly at the operational end of the Boulder. Do not submerge the Boulder in liquid, even partially. Most importantly, under no circumstances should youu.
  5. So. Neat how many rockets SpaceX launched this year! Here's hoping to many more in years to come! Including rockets I can fly on.
  6. I have a small refractor, but it doesn't have its own stand attached, which means two trips each way. I really didn't want to be outside longer than I needed in -22° C. Binoculars worked just fine. Actually, I think it might not have happened in Houston anyways. There's enough parallax (just like with a solar eclipse) that you could have seen Aldebaran all night. I could be wrong about the Moon's exact position, though, so I may be wrong.
  7. The sun is in the least active part of its 11-year cycle, and many of us (like myself) are so deep in winter that we can barely remember what its heat feels like, but that doesn't mean it's not time to think about it! Here is a theme for the Sun: https://spaaace.bandcamp.com/track/the-sun
  8. It'll have a few launches! Yes! Hopefully! Hopefully, but I wouldn't be surprised if at least one of those gets pushed back to 2019. Yes; and sort of. Maybe partially built. Don't forget Blue Origin may get to crewed flights on New Shepard!
  9. I saw Aldebaran disappear instantaneously! Apparently it's about 20 milliarcseconds wide, so not surprising.
  10. Aldebaran's about to be hidden behind the Moon! It's clear, too! Only one slightly worrisome cloud formation. I'll be looking through binoculars because it's too cold to justify putting the telescope out.
  11. You know, that just might work if you keep some maneuvering fuel and thrusters on the fairings so that they separate far enough, get reeled back, and clamp on carefully. However, S1 has to turn around and reignite pretty fast in most cases, so I don't think it would work as well as just gliding the fairings down and...doing whatever they do to get them on the boat.
  12. It's saying it's going to take 6 hours to download Portal 2...Good thing I've got all weekend to work on setting up.
  13. But the lensing effects also give an idea of the size of an object. The black hole at the center of Andromeda, for instance, creates a lot of lensing but on a very small scale. A galaxy cluster with dark matter in it shows lensing on a very large scale.
  14. I think Kylo Ren was very conflicted after killing Snoke, and was afraid to stop being evil. I think he may take on a more neutral stand as he continues to find himself. Probably he and Rey will become closer, and blur the line a bit between Jedi and Sith as good Force and evil Force. I also think Chirrut in Rogue One alludes to this, as he can use the Force but is independent.
  15. Yeah, but a drawing of it. Doesn't have to be exactly the same.
  16. BREAKING NEWS: CNN WEBSITE CORRUPTED
  17. BFR on a landing pad having supplies unloaded at a polar Moon base, Earth just above the horizon.
  18. This looks really, exceptionally awesome. I will see if I can try it out sometime!
