cubinator replied to cratercracker's topic in The Lounge
I once did Gargantua from afar, I could do a closer, more realistic view sometime with a Doppler-shifted accretion disk.- 894 replies

Why Haven't Laser Guns been made yet?
cubinator replied to SpaceEnthusiast23's topic in Science & Spaceflight
The kind of energy you need to make a laser into a meaningful weapon is way too much to be practical. -

Hug to @cratercracker for encouraging my 8-bit art, and to @Souper for making a random Undertale joke some months ago.

Can this be the new stock solar system?

You'd rather go to Ceres, I think. -

Landing on the squiggle that is Moho would be quite a new challenge. -
"Catastrophic failure" good joke, i planned this :-)
cubinator replied to Pawelk198604's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I'm testing a two stage Laythe return vehicle for Alternis Kerbol. "We want our Kerbonauts to come home safe, so we're testing this vehicle by dropping it into Jool" reads the ship description. Since it had enough fuel to lift off from Kerbin and enter Jool via a Laythe gravity assist, I consider it a capable vessel of returning three Kerbals to Kerbin from Laythe's surface, and thus the test was successful. Then again, maybe "catastrophic failure" doesn't mean a bad thing to Kerbals. -
STS considered something like that but found it would require too much extra infrastructure. I think ITS might find similar issues is they tried that.

I think it's really cool how dust from the Sahara desert floats across the ocean in the wind and helps fertilize the Amazon rainforest, and this is visible from space.- 176 replies
