A spider crawls across your screen. It presses B to flip into my screen. It is eaten by the turtle at the top of the Ferris wheel.

I've got a whole book's worth of space sketches that I don't have the patience to photograph and post...

4 is the base for life on Earth, so that might be something.

One sentence you could say to annoy an entire fan base?

Pluto is/n't a planet. -
You did order the MLG special, correct? Waiter, my bowl is empty but it's raining soup outside!

I don't want to get eaten, and I don't know what to do with the Holy Grail, so this button shall remain unpressed. This button inverts Earth's north and south poles. You can come back and press it as many times as you want.

I always thought the striped boosters would make it look like a giant flying Atari logo...

The Search For Life: Mars VS Europa
cubinator replied to Der Anfang's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Which is why I say we won't be able to do this properly until there are humans in the Jupiter system who are able to build such equipment with local resources instead of having to haul everything on giant expensive rockets from Earth. Although Europa may be more promising, Mars is a much more viable option in the near term. -
The Search For Life: Mars VS Europa
cubinator replied to Der Anfang's topic in Science & Spaceflight
The problem with Europa is that you need a spacecraft that can fly a large probe to Jupiter, then land that probe on Europa, then drill through many kilometers of ice, and still be a functional submarine that can get to the bottom of the ocean and move around, collecting and sending back data to Earth through all that ice. It's a ridiculously difficult thing to accomplish, and I honestly don't think we'll get around to it until there are actual humans living in the Jupiter system. I do think it's one of the most promising candidates for extraterrestrial life that's anywhere near within reach, along with the other icy moons. -
This Day in Spaceflight History
cubinator replied to The Raging Sandwich's topic in Science & Spaceflight
The edition I have doesn't mention anything about the ISS, although it does say the shuttle will be used to construct future space stations. I think the newer one probably talks about Hubble and the ISS specifically. -

Not my pics, but these are just a few of the diagrams found in the book: It's practically the next best thing to actually getting trained at NASA to fly the thing. Everything about living and working on the shuttle is documented in that book, no understatement. I stumbled upon it because my grandma volunteers at a local library bookstore and she can pick out any book the library doesn't want and take it home, and she knew that one would be interesting to me when it came through. -
The Grand "Imgur albums/links are broken" thread.

The Grand "Imgur albums/links are broken" thread.
cubinator replied to Bloojay's topic in Kerbal Network
That works too, but makes it take a little longer to load the page and can be difficult for mobile users. I'd consider putting them in a spoiler, but do whatever suits you. -
^this. I'd try going directly adapter-decoupler-engine. That one SAS module probably doesn't help a whole lot anyways with the Mammoth at the bottom gimballing.

Imgur albums do not embed automatically anymore. Pasting the link is the best you can do at the moment. -
Did you click the "New Post" button and drag the image from the screenshots folder to the window?

...and possibly trying to land on it because it's still half full and you just can't fathom putting so much fuel to waste.

This Day in Spaceflight History

@DDE I didn't see anything specifically regarding that in the manual, but the remote manipulator arm is controlled from that orientation so I would assume the maneuvering controls would have some sort of visual indication of target-relative orientation and velocity, probably very similar to "Control From Here" in KSP. -

I'll check in the Space Shuttle Operator's Manual to see if I find anything on it. -

Here's a little thing I came up with yesterday for a tourist contract: The tourist is in the downwards-facing pod for "extra" comfort. As in, "Gees, that's comfy."
