Medium settings show 'playable' but not ideal frames at 4k.

I'm like, wow. Space is beautifully rendered. The planet is cool and interesting. Sadly I'm WAAAAY higher than intended because my LF rocket would not throttle back down; so now I'm headed to an AP of 921km... At least the view is nice! This is a link to Imigur: https://imgur.com/GxJumdx

Edited the OP. 4k works fine for rovers at the KSC... but once you circle the planet and drop in somewhere else... it's a different thing, entirely. 12 FPS. That wasn't great. That said - with all the goodies turned up; Kerbin was cool to look at and fun to land on. Lots of scatter; trees and rocks and stuff!

This is one of those 'little things' that I'd like to see worked on. I've been having fun trying to get a working plane built - and I have one flying well, just not landing well... and every time I crash? Instantly a large portion of the screen is taken up by the 'pretentious' Kerman (Finger in the air 'I think that could have gone better') and I get to watch whatever parts are not hidden by the honking big pop-up spin and crash. Let me enjoy that moment! I KNOW it did not go well. Maybe there's a toggle I'm not aware of... but I'd really like the parts to settle - and maybe the option to just sit and enjoy the shattered remains of my craft before hitting ESC and choosing what to do next. /Suggestion

Oh yeah. I had a plane that would not take off. Forgot to adjust the position of the wheels; back to VAB. Next build? Plane fell on it's butt on loading in. Back to VAB. Now trying to remember a KSP guide from years ago about where the COM and COL balls are supposed to be in relation to each other! I'm looking forward to someone doing a KSP2 flight basics tutorial - but for now? This is a hoot! Only thing I wish was that when doing adjustments to the flight control surfaces - that the player could see the COM and COL balls move. As is, you have to close out, let the system recalculate and then see if you goofed something up.

I was just coming here to ask if anyone had gotten a HOTAS setup to work. Guess I'll be waiting a while. But yeah - HOTAS / stick of some kind is a feature I'd really like to see!

I'll start: Flying the first plane I built - which looks like ones I've flown in KSP... the wings were all flappy. Literally every time I hit the W or S key, the wings would flap like they were duck taped or connected by rubber. Is that a design error, a 'need to add struts' thing - or possibly a problem with how KSP2 is currently handling the physics and part interactions?

Not sure what you're saying. 3070 is pretty entry level for 4k in most games. Certainly not getting a full 144 FPS on most of the titles I play, even those that are complete, patched and matured. Kerbal isn't a FPS. It's more like MSFS - a sim... where you don't actually have to try to max frames to be competitive or have fun. Now - I write this fully cognizant that I'm driving a low part count rover around KSC and haven't seen much else of the game... but I am saying 'it's not all suxors' and calling for pitchforks, tar and feathers.

Not the Dev's fault - Contact Nvidia and AMD about rapacious pricing

At 4k on high in an EA title? Perspective much?

At least not floating away... but it's not touching the ground, either. Also - my rover partly fell through a concrete walkway / road / rim of the pad near a launch tower. Appreciating the artwork by the devs! Loving all the little details - like corrosion and burn marks and other stuff! https://imgur.com/a/q1lRNem Edit - it happened again at a different tower. https://imgur.com/a/6AMw0Y6 Looks like the darker grey outline part of the pads have terrain mesh issues. Also - Jeb fell through. https://imgur.com/FIQ8bPF

Getting the FPS to display?

Getting 75 in the VAB 25-30 driving a rover around KSC with all settings on High and 4x AA. Totally playable! -

Yeah I'm at 4k too... Will look again! -
Getting the FPS to display?
JoeSchmuckatelli posted a topic in KSP2 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
There is a toggle under the options to display FPS. I've tried it from both the loading screen and by hitting esc in game and making sure it was on... But I don't see it displayed on the screen anywhere. Anyone cracked this? -
I'm getting playable frames. Don't know what they are - but playable. Have flown in atmosphere with no problems. Driving around the KSC, again no problems.

Running a 3070, most settings on high. Only thing I adjusted after the initial load was to switch to 4k and turn on 4x AA (needs AA). Don't know frames yet - haven't figured out how to get them to display, even though I've toggled them on. Have seen some tears, but not terrible. Have only flown one small craft and driven about a little... But quite happy! EDIT: I'm getting 75 FPS in the VAB, 25-30FPS tooling around KSC in a rover. All settings on High with 4x AA on and FPS counter ticking away. Very playable, very pretty! Edit again: 12 FPS at 4k when flying over Kerbin in Map Mode at altitude. Flew a rocket into orbit, dumped the orbit to land somewhere and see what was down there... and yeah, with the planet (in all it's beautiful glory)... 12 FPS. Yeek! Gonna try to fiddle with stuff and see what it does. Edit again: Dropped to Medium Settings. Getting a playable 20 - 25 FPS while flying over Kerbin in 'orbit' It does jump to 60 when the planet is not in frame... but immediately back to 20 ish when looking at the planet

NASA Images Confirm China's Zhurong Mars Rover Hasn't Budged in Months - CNET Martian conditions can be tough for robotic explorers, especially ones that rely on solar power. NASA's InSight lander and Opportunity rover both reached the ends of their missions after dust caked their panels. It's possible Zhurong has experienced a similar fate. Whatever happens, the rover still completed its main mission objectives and handily outlasted its original three-month life expectancy, cementing its legacy in the history of space exploration.

Interesting. Don't think he could have picked up the ball. Would like to see it in action next to a version used on the moon. Would probably showcase the improvements better for the Neanderthals like me

Ask the Mods questions about the Forums!

The forums are bonkers right now. On 3 different platforms it just looks like an outline... And not one that's very well organized. Forum crash or just maintenance? -
Thanks for this! I'm far from being able to understand the maths involved but I have been reading research papers on this for years - and my first two read throughs of the paper left me thinking 'this just doesn't make sense' (in relation to the other stuff I've read). Then I stumbled on the reaction article I posted, and now this. She was far more capable of articulating what just didn't fit for me (helps that this is her professional area of study!)

saw that too; kudos! No one knows, nor will know until tomorrow. Generally speaking there is some benefit to having at least one spec above the minimum. My guess is that if you keep your part count reasonable (and pay attention to the number of engines, given what was written in the OP) you should have a pretty decent experience. Presumes you're playing on 1080p.
