I got from the statement way back when that it was only no to EA. There is no reason for them to keep those parts out of the game indefinitely - would not be a true KSP2 without the features of KSP -

That was about EA / Sandbox. They'll likely show up in Science... Or Colonies at the latest. -

We May Not Actually Need All That Lithium Read any article about the clean energy revolution, and chances are you’ll run into some staggering numbers about how demand for lithium, cobalt, nickel, and other minerals and metals is projected to rise over the next few decades. Policies that made cities more walkable and public transit better and more accessible could lower lithium demand between 18% and 66%, while simply limiting the size of EV batteries could cut demand by up to 42%. In the best-case scenario, where multiple types of these policies were implemented, demand for lithium in the U.S. could be more than 90% lower than current estimates. And yet his statement accurately reflects what the Developer was talking about. Submilimeter precision was a comment related to the game's orbital mechanics system - not part placement -
Content Creators Early Access?
JoeSchmuckatelli replied to Cpt72Bug's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
That wasn't my concern. The concern is that the forums are now last in line, if not an afterthought for release of content. We had to ask Ghostii to create a thread here because many don't use tick-spy or insta-datagrab. Now content is being posted originally to Discord. The trend is away from the forums - which has been the primary place we have all come to watch development over the past three years. That is what I don't like -

Sorry. I will never like Discord nor prefer it over a forum. I know that's where @Ghostii_Spaceneeds to be to reach out to the younger generations... But Discord is just obnoxious to me. I start wanting to punch people in very short order. One of the hallmarks of this community is the excellent moderating by @Vanamonde @Snark and @Gargamel (among others). They are the best moderating team of any fora I've been on. Our community is great because they hold us to a higher standard in a way that does not drive people away. This forum has been going strong for a decade - would hate to lose this community because some marketing study said 'Discord is the future' and ghosti and other marketing goes there or tik-spy as the default /primary information - communication space(s) -

Beta players have access to orbital class parts? Looks like it. I'm betting that orb at the back and the scaffolding are not in Sandbox -
I know a place... But you need Russian Oligarch money.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.syfy.com/syfy-wire/a-star-like-the-sun-has-six-gas-giants-orbiting-it-with-two-in-its-habitable-zone%3famp Two of the planets — HD34445b and f — are located in the star's habitable zone: the region around the star where liquid water can exist on the surface of a body. For this star, that's about 200 – 350 million kilometers out. Closer than the inner edge and it gets too hot (for a terrestrial (rocky) planet, you get a runaway greenhouse effect and the planet gets scorched), and farther than the outer edge and even the best greenhouse effect won't keep you from freezing. HD 34445b is 311 million km out, and HD 34445f is 230 million. Not bad Now again, these are gas giants! HD 34445 b is 200 times the mass of the Earth, and HD 34445f, while smaller, is still about 40 times our heft. These are not going to be planets our Earth. But they might have moons. Exomoons! Our own solar system's gas giants have huge retinues of such satellites, and some are big: Ganymede (orbiting Jupiter) and Titan (Saturn) are about as big as Mercury! And it’s not too ridiculous to think even bigger ones might exist, making some of these moons potentially Earth-sized, and maybe, maybe, Earth-like.

For Questions That Don't Merit Their Own Thread
JoeSchmuckatelli replied to Skyler4856's topic in Science & Spaceflight
This is really good advice - don't kill yourself or anyone else trying to save the dog. Brake hard and hold your lane (if necessary) but any high speed evasive turning can result in a flip or worse accident. Bye doggy is better than bye Dad! I had a near accident in Canada - flying around mountain roads when I came around a turn to find a herd of cattle being driven up the road filling both lanes. Stood on the break pedal and only at the last instant eased my truck into the oncoming lane to avoid a cow. Came to a halt with cattle on 3 sides of my truck. Would have killed me and the cow. Rancher merely waved and kept driving the herd. You do what you can - but don't make a situation worse by panicking! -

Honestly - I cannot wait to see this. Hoping they get it down as well as Falcon9; because it will be both absolutely nuts, and a testament to human ingenuity! I'd watch every landing (well, at least for a while - they do want to make it as 'boring' as possible) -

I have tough skin -- that was my snark at me! I can't imagine them NOT trying a sea-borne 'get the landing procedures down' first attempt (with a target) before risking the whole place... but given the three attempts that AFAIK all hit the pad; I'm not counting them out either. What I actually expect is that they'll try to get SS to hover and maybe transit a bit before ditching. -

Fine. Remind the resident Neanderthal that he's not been paying close enough attention to SX's actual plans for catching the durned thing - rather than merely propulsively landing it. I mean - ostensibly I should have known that - but IRL, its so frigging out there as a concept for me that 'land' makes sense where 'catch' still sounds bonkers! -

JoeSchmuckatelli replied to Skylon's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Well, there goes my vain hope that off Hawaii there would be a couple of 'throwaway barges' set out as a target and SX would try to stick the landing (knowing either way the ship is likely to sink). Still - it would be cool to see how good they are at hitting a target on the first throw! -

This - also; we keep focusing on humans as reporting - when they can easily set up the launcher to submit crash logs which incorporate information about the game state. That's probably better than, "I can't mount a Oscar to my OKTO, sideways" -

I suspect they'll be under an embargo until right up to a short time before EA drops. They may even have a NDA for early Beta access stuff - like they get a week to acclimatize and find/report bugs with none of that releasable... then they get a patch... then they get told 'okay, you can use this build in your videos'. The tension is time. Expanding into a closed beta will mean new eyes, machines and unexpected builds. New bugs. The team will want a shot at fixing those things - last thing they want is a Day Zero 'Blooper Reel' showing all the problems. That will take time. CCs also need time to record, edit and get their videos ready for production. That takes time too: so they may be limited to a more mature build before including Beta Content in their vids... but they'll be clamoring for as much time with the game as possible, too. I'm guessing - mind you, guessing - they'll get a build in the first week or two of February and be told, 'go nuts'. We might see hype videos a week out - or Day Zero. But I doubt we'll see anything before Feb 17. Maybe we need a bracket? -

KSP2 Roadmap predicted dates?

I'm with you... but I suspect getting through EA to Science won't be that long; it's well trodden ground and with Science out, effectively puts out KSP 2 as a rebuilt sequel. Certainly EA Sandbox will be heavy on bug hunting and hopefully some refinement - but after the first month where most of the glaring problems should be identified... keeping it in EA for much longer likely becomes less important if not detrimental. Especially when you consider that some people will recreate Grand Tour ships (as close as the available parts will allow) while others (like me) will only build rovers/planes to explore KSC, and a few ships to get out to the Moons (and maybe not much more). I expect Sandbox to be chaotic and fun to watch what folks come up with... but after that initial explosion? They'll need to move on to the 'game' aspect and the new stuff. (I, for one, never spent much time in Sandbox - far preferring 'the game') Science will give more parts, and thus more bugs to hunt - but the biggest part will be balancing. That might take a bit longer to have sufficient data. Some people who are good at the game will crush through stuff really really quickly (visiting anomalies, arches, thingys and stuff) - and given that those who've stuck around this long might be among the best, most experienced KSP players... there's going to be a problem with getting 'bad data' in the form of too many people moving too fast. I suspect they'll be trying to parse out people like me who struggle to make it past Minmus and all the (hopefully quite a number) new players to the title who will get to go through the same learning process we all did, albeit with 'better onboarding'. Those players will set the floor for what is the minimum 'science' balance to keep people interested and progressing, while keeping the 'good' players from having it all too easy. I'm suggesting that this phase might take 1.5 to 3 times as long as EA Sandbox. The time needed to identify truly 'new' players and 'middling' players and find out what their tolerance is for advancement through the science progression part of the game. That's their challenge (my guess). After that - all the 'New' comes out. And frankly, for me, once I have KSP2 out with Science and it feels like a 'new game' - the latter stages of the roll-out will just be bonus content. Stuff I look forward to, but don't feel like I 'need' to enjoy the game. I know there are some desperate for Colonies and Interstellar and MP... but I also suspect that there are a lot of people like me who just want a largely bug-freed KSP rebuild that looks good, is fun and feels new. -

Quibble; Full Release used to be the standard. For at least 10 years, some form of EA or extended beta are becoming more common. While I think complexity has a part of this, and cash flow (early monetization) another... it's just becoming kind of a habit within the industry. (Outside of Reskinned Generic First Person Shooter Fifteen - Now With Extra Powerups and UberUBERarmor!!!!!111!) I think those of us who have been gaming since the 90s are acculturated to thinking games need to be 'finished' on release... my kid has very little expectations of the current industry; standards don't seem to be 'standard' or mean much.
