    I know that you will say that i am overly optimistic, but i believe, that with what we have done in just a few thousand years, we could do unimaginable things in 1,000,000 years. when you make a prediction about the far future, it will be extremely pessimistic. the oposite goes for the near term, but i feel the "Science and Spaceflight " forum is to pessimistic.

    I dont think that (at least in the inner planets) there will be a space war until the advent of nanotube, (both carbon and boron nitride) space elavators and fountains, and compact hight efficiency nuclear fusion. When thatey do, objectives will be to capture the moon(helium 3), and destroy the elevators.

    If it had done its job stuff would be great. An LEO space station, huge satellite networks, space tugs moving satellites to different orbits, a massive space base, a GEO space station, space tugs and nuclear tugs shuttling people and cargo to and from a space station in lunar orbit, a huge moon base, a Mars orbit station, a Mars base, the first people on Mars in 1985, IMAGINE THE POSSIBILITIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Too bad it didn't happen.

    Skylon would revolutionize space travel, and is necessary to make it available to the masses. However, the SABER tech is unproven. Rockets are more versatile and skylon would only be effective if flown 100 times per year, but it can fly that much. Also, what does skylon stand for? What would be a good abort system? I thought pyros on payload bay doors and srbs on the crew module.
