  1. This is my submission, with a Battlestar Galactica replica. http://imgur.com/a/A6ToO (to orbit) http://imgur.com/a/kIpgI (reentry/landing) It's not useful or anything, but it's cool. I also created a challenge based on this, which you can find here:
  2. I was building a Battlestar Galactica Viper fighter the other day and was wondering if I could make it so that it could get to orbit from the runway. After many tweaks (adding more oxidiser), it finally did, and now I am challenging you to do the same. Build a replica of a fictional starcraft and fly it to orbit. Rules: Must be stock. No Mechjeb either, because you have to fly whatever you create. No alt+f12 cheats or HyperEdit It must at least resemble (doesn't have to be perfect; mine isn't) a starship from a fictional series. Link to an image if you can. Part clipping is allowed to help it look like...whatever it should look like. Note: If there is another challenge like this out there, I didn't see it. Also, if this is popular I will make a badge for this challenge. My submission:
  3. The building aspect. I can spend an hour or so just building an enormous mothership that I'm never going to use. Just trying to figure out how so-and-so should work (e.g., figuring out how to deploy SCANsats symmetrically when travelling between moons) is really fun in the design phase.
  4. I would add something fairly large, (Eve-like, maybe), but way, way out, so that it could have a huge SOI and something like ten moons (sub-satellites, too!).
  5. I was looking at some RSS posts (The Camwise Logs), and now I'd like to go to Phobos. The low gravity would be fun, and the view of Mars overhead would be amazing.
  6. I worked on a Battlestar Galactica fighter replica http://imgur.com/a/cbVwq After many tries (due to the low lift/low control issues) I finally got it flying, and discovered that it could even make reentry speeds. Maybe a spaceplane with a similar design...?
  7. Yeah, I was running out of ideas to do until 1.1 came along, and now I'm trying to get a giant Eve lander there before 1.1 comes out. It's really annoying (0.6m/s2 acceleration) but it makes it nice to try to accomplish something.
  8. I believe you are talking about Captain Haddock from Tintin. He was my favorite character.
  9. Christmas 2014, as a gift from my brother. All my rockets ended up being massive constructions that went nowhere.
  10. I am almost ready to begin transfer to Eve, but first I need a name for my vehicle. The mission itself is E.V.E. (Eve Vehicular Egress), and I would like a lander with the same initials. Examples would include Exploratory Vessel: Eve and Egress Vehicle: Eve.
  11. Something that I feel would be a good addition are surface lights, as the large, clunky lights that we have now are good for illuminating landings and rovers, but are vastly too big for illuminating things like space stations or bases. Also, large monopropellant engines would be useful, along with more 3.75m parts.
  12. I hear you, Starlionblue. Total, I think my Eve mission will take about seven launches (lander, transfer stage, four fuellings and a launch with double ScanSats. (sighs...)
  13. My first Mun landing [attempt] was in Science mode, in 0.90. I was very low on fuel (read: started slowing down at 50,000m), and was zoomed in way too much on my craft. Funnily enough, it was also on the dark side (read: no orbital insertion burn). When the lights finally hit the surface, I throttled up, but it was too little, too late. The first landing [actually] was with the same craft, but I saved some delta-v on the transfer burn, and so was able to get a landing.
  14. Moon: Definitely Minmus. Great for bases, fuel refineries, etc. Planet: Eve. The only purple planet.
  15. Just to clarify, are mods allowed in this challenge?
  16. Hello! I am new to these forums, and decided to post a thread to start off my "career" in the KSP Forum. Any tips or advice, either on KSP or on the forums themselves is totally welcome, and would be appreciated. Some questions I do have, though, about the forums are these: 1) How do you get rank (e.g., newbie, etc.)? 2) How do you get the "badges" that people have below their posts? 3) (Inspired from Kerbfleet Odyssey ) How do you get a spaceplane inside a cargo bay?
  17. My spaceplane disintegrated on reentry, so to commemorate test pilot Kelfrod, I an playing Disintegration Anxiety by Explosions in the Sky. Seems like an appropriate song for a spaceplane that blew up at 35,000 meters.
  18. Mine is probably docking as well, because it took me several tries to actually carry out and opens up a lot of possibilities.
