To my future relatives and internet archeologists: Whatever holographic or synaptic interface you are using to access this archaic format of information technology, we once used our mouths, fingers and eyes to exchange information. A repository of important facts that may have become obscured through time: The internet was created for the exchange of cat images. Justin Beiber was a once musician before he was elected Pope and then unified humanity. Many people in my time can believe it's not butter. The James Cameron film "Dances with Smurfs" was originally called Avatar. We all rode hover-boards to school as shown in the documentary "Back to the future". Americans were once shaped like everyone else. The last conflict on Earth was known as the "Great Food Fight". After the last horrible barrage of Afghan melons everyone thought there was too much cleaning up to do. Elron Hubbard founded SpaceX and tax avoidance. We knew about global warming but thought you might like to be able to tan in the Antarctic. McDonalds (denoted by the ancient golden arches) was our primary place of worship for the deity Ronald. KSP was a game invented by a militant monkey to slow the intellectual improvement of mankind by denying their brightest and best time to work on actual science. There was great outcry in geological circles when Australia was demoted from continent to island - it was then found to have other islands around it before the probe "New Asylums" did a flyby. Space exploration only started in earnest when Coca Cola discovered a new sugar substitute on Trappist 3. This was only possible after British scientists isolated a molecule from baked beans known named fartonium. Please use your personal time machine to give me the numbers in Saturdays lottery. I apologise for this post.

Greetings @jarhaaje and welcome to the forums. 3 years of screaming for me. I don't use mechjeb either but have you read the mechjeb manual? Good luck on your interplanetary voyage and don't worry about asking questions - "There is no such thing as a stupid question. There are only stupid people who don't ask them."

My guess is the Vought A-7 Corsair II even though it has 2 more hardpoints they don't extend out from the wings.

I think we've all been there, mate. When you get your next mod set the way you like it, copy the whole KSP folder out of steam to another location and play from there. Your playing game will be immune from updates until your modset is available for the new version.

Greetings @IlBuonAstaroth and Benvenuto to the forums. Generally compatibility for the KSP version you are using is listed before the mod in the addons subforum. If you are talking about cross compatibility between various mods and are having problems then the mod thread or mod discussion threads are the best places to look for solutions. Most mods have a list of compatible or recommended complimentary mods. You could post right here for general advice.

For Questions That Don't Merit Their Own Thread
James Kerman replied to Skyler4856's topic in Science & Spaceflight
I had read about this car but needed to see it to fully appreciate how ugly it is: -
I like victims engineers to man my ISRU rigs. I lure them into a capsule with snacks and send them off-world forever.
-
Wheels are an essential part of my playstyle. I have had a minor issue of the claw orientation changing over time but I have never had a real kraken attack since the wheels were fixed.
-
I like to get my crew to level 3 before duna - Mostly engineers as I find them most useful for my playstyle. I usually pop out into Kerbol orbit on any crewed mission to minmus. The Dv requirement is tiny to pop out and then pop back into Kerbin's sphere of influence.

Serious Scientific Answers to Absurd Hypothetical questions
James Kerman replied to DAL59's topic in Science & Spaceflight
You can pack a musket barrel full of black powder and fire it with no ill effects besides a sore shoulder and sore ears (if you didn't use protection). Try the same thing with modern smokeless powder and you wont have hands or a face. Black powder cant burn through all the grains in the barrel fast enough and a large amount of it gets ejected unburnt. -
Firstly be proud that you have created a mod - I don't even know how to make a flag. Everyone has to start somewhere and I'm sure you will improve with time. Second - if some one is physically abusing you I recommend you get some support, even if it's just to discuss your problems. https://aifs.gov.au/cfca/publications/helplines-and-telephone-counselling-services-children-young-people-and-pare I'm assuming you're a young bloke but there are many other services for adults. As for myself I'm here because I love the game and the community.

I think some lights are going on somewhere
James Kerman replied to Starchaser's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Good work with the improvements, @Starchaser. I sometimes use mushroom fairings in KSP however, as The Aziz mentioned, this will subject the top of the rocket to more drag and make it less stable in atmospheric flight. The solution is to add more fins (drag) to the bottom. In KSP gravity losses outweigh aerodynamic losses so the faster you get out of the atmosphere (without blowing up your vessel) the more efficient you are. I build my first stage to almost get me to orbit (3200ms DV TWR 1.8) and finish circularising with payload engines. Once you are in orbit TWR does not matter unless you intend to land somewhere but in order not to die of boredom during burns I use around TWR 0.4. This is where ISP is king and the terrier is an excellent choice if you don't have access to nukes or ions. -
I hadn't done anything underwater in KSP before so I thought I'd give this a go. This is the Whale Fall Sea Station and it's runabout the Scuba Doo. Want to add a few power and battery modules next.

I've been playing around with an underwater base for the first time. I happened to leave the gigantors deployed and found this when I arrived: It floats???? After stowing the panels the base settled to the surface again. Due to a lapse in concentration I forgot to test the docking point height on my sub and found I couldn't dock. Gigantors for the underwater win:

Do You BELIEVE there is life outside Earth?
James Kerman replied to juvilado's topic in Science & Spaceflight
I hope so. It is my belief that bacterial life will eventually be found deep underground on Mars because of what we have found on earth. https://www.universetoday.com/851/bacteria-found-deep-underground/ There is also the panspermia theory and its variants to consider. -
Nah, Australia (pronounced Stralya).
-
I am from the Island that prefers to be a continent.

For Questions That Don't Merit Their Own Thread
James Kerman replied to Skyler4856's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Two engineering students from George Mason University have invented a new fire extinguisher, capable of putting out flames by manipulating sound waves. https://www.engineersaustralia.org.au/portal/news/sonic-fire-extinguisher-puts-out-flames-sound -
I hope we get the first sheep into orbit - who's laughing now, New Zealand.
