KSP 2 Pricing and older players
Anth replied to Jeb_Needs_A_Parachute's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
The amount of money I have saved not having to buy other games because of the 5000+ hours I have gotten out of KSP1...why are we still talking about this? I hope that the Intercept Games employees make a bucket load of money with bonus's for making an awesome game. I hope Take Two make a bucket load of money from the game too. Private Division will make more money from KSP2 than any other game released...so they should if the game is as good as I hope I hope I get another 5000+ hours out of KSP2 that I have gotten out of KSP1. US$60 for 5000 hours? Thats nothing Also...I want DLCs! Every 6 months or so. Lets keep Intercept Games working on KSP2 for as long as we can -
What causes lag? How to deal with it?
Anth replied to king of nowhere's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
The long loading times are due to a memory leak that was introduced in the game in 1.2 The memory increases most times there is a scene change. The increase seems dependant on the size of the game save. Bug #25218: 1.2.2 to 1.9.1 Memory leak is proportional to the size of the game save - Kerbal Space Program - Squad Bugtracker The above link is to a bug report I did. I created a specific group of tasks to do and tested it in multiple versions. The bug report doesnt show the testing I did for versions between 1.2.2 and 1.9.1 but it was consistently the same increase. The graphs you see in the bug report show what the memory is doing related to the size of the game save (note the memory that KSP starts out was varying for some reason) And the most important part which comes back to answering your question. As the memory increases the load times get longer and longer and longer Lag...you mean the game performing badly due to large crafts? 2000 parts will slow down my i9 9900K -

Shadow Flickering Problem

Probably mod related then. last possible thing could be video drivers. when were they last updated? -
Shadow Flickering Problem
Anth replied to SpaceBooper's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Next I would test it with only stock parts. no modded parts at all Then if that doesn't work I would delete the settings.cfg file then start KSP forcing it to be made from scratch to its default values -

Have any visual mods? -
The closest encounter just disappeared? Sounds like a bug that I came across, though mine were longer distances like Jool or Eeloo
-
Sometimes KSP is wrong when it comes to its encounter arrows. I just recommend playing around with it and do some quicksaves/quickloads until you figure out. Sorry I cant be more help than that.
-
I know we are on the eve of the final update so I thought I would throw this one in there Jeb seems to want to get into my crafts at every opportunity unless he's deceased I have a truck where all I need to be in it is an engineer but KSP doesn't know that and will autofill the seat with the wrong class at times Ignore if this has already been suggested

Odd performance with many craft
Anth replied to blastjack85's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
I have tested it with 1000+ parts in a scene. The mission I was doing was assembling a base which was many pieces and then was put together using a forklift. when the base was in separate pieces the performance was higher. As the base was built and there were less parts the performance dropped. I am not sure how it works exactly, but more small crafts will definitely perform higher than one big one on my computer -
@cubinator When people used to make helicopters in KSP with jet engines and panels to make them spin, well somethings are worth doing even if they are bad
-
Yes
-
So Wind Turbines. Does that mean there is wind and will it affect crafts in game? Oh Oh, and would I be able to make more EC if I blast a jet engine into it? And if there is something disturbing the wind in the area like a rocket or a jet engine or propellers would that disturb the smoke coming off things like the Geothermal Power Generator?

@Minmus Taster The idea that Take Two were the ones in the wrong is the go to for a lot of people. It could have been Star Theory's fault, or a combination of both companies. We don't know exactly what happened @pandamanSome Squad employees were already working on KSP2 before we found out that KSP 1's major updates were ending as of 1.12. Definitely feels like Intercept Games are ramping up their development to me and Squad employees are helping them in that regard
-
I feel like its closer to finished than we think but I am probably lying to myself, November next year maybe.. Get it right...I don't care if it takes longer than expected as long as they get it right and then...keep Intercept in business with some awesome DLCs
-
What are you going to do the day KSP2 is released?
Anth replied to Kerminator K-100's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
What will I be doing on the day KSP2 comes out? Take the week off work as of the day it comes out Play KSP 2 for a week solid -
Squad selling KSP to Take 2 might be the reason we got KSP for 10 years. If Squad hadn't sold KSP when they did the last update might have been 1.4 or 1.5 I think I bought KSP for US$20 and then the game got updated for another 5 years....for free Thanks Squad for selling KSP, and thanks Take Two for giving it to someone like Nate Simpson to make KSP2 whose a KSP1 nut case (meaning someone who loves KSP)
-
Wow, Base Building. Looks awesome
-
@Nate SimpsonJust wondering if we will have a similar system to KSP1 for public bug reporters?

KSP has had a major memory leak since 1.2 The larger the gamesave/persistent file the faster the ram will increase on changing scenes, and the more ram that is being used also means the longer it will take to change scenes or load a quicksave Delete all unnecessary crafts from your KSP universe like Debris is one important thing. Also try to make your crafts as small as you can, the bigger the craft the bigger the gamesave/persistent file, which means the same above issues
