Anyone know the colouring of Voskhod II?
Ultimate Steve replied to zpox357's topic in Science & Spaceflight
And to think, that same launch pad is still in use today... Also, sort of off topic, but if I am not mistaken, you are Yippie357/Dentipus! I was a big fan of your videos back in the day, sorry to see that you lost the time and/or motivation to make them. Any particular reason for making a few of them private? Also, I loved your video on the girder tree!- 8 replies

TL;DR: Really long, verbose explanation of why there are two Jebs, AKA lots of storyline and explanation, but very little gameplay. P.S. this was originally supposed to be longer but because of the fact that it's over 4000 words already and I'm not even to the second of two major events, I'm splitting this chapter up (which leads to a rather darker chapter than usual, sorry!). This also means that Chapter Fifteen should come sooner than usual, so, yay! Chapter Fourteen - Warp Speed Ahead

totm nov 2023 SpaceX Discussion Thread
Ultimate Steve replied to Skylon's topic in Science & Spaceflight
And for a bit of positivity, happy second anniversary of the first drone ship landing! -
The Mid series has an upgrade that makes it restartable, but not many of the other engines do. In case you didn't know, if you right click on engines and click show GUI, you can upgrade them from there.

Space Race - RO/RSS/RP-0 (April 1956)
Ultimate Steve replied to Ultimate Steve's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Ultimate Steve - October-December 1952 (Cycle 8) Ping isn't working, but qzgy is next. I think we shouldn't go too far ahead so that NSEP can catch up fairly easily, though. EDIT: @qzgy -
Space Race - RO/RSS/RP-0 (April 1956)
Ultimate Steve replied to Ultimate Steve's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Ultimate Steve - July-September 1952 (Cycle 7) @qzgy, around the cycle we go! Also, note to readers, NSEP is going to be unavailable for a while, so we are going to be skipping him until he gets back, and he'll post his progress for the missed months all at once. -
totm nov 2023 SpaceX Discussion Thread
Ultimate Steve replied to Skylon's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Although hydrogen isn't that dense. But agreed, the F9/FH fairing is a bit small. I don't think we'll ever see a LEO payload anywhere near 62t, the extra capability is primarily for BLEO applications (although there is the aforementioned isp problem, which isn't really that much of a problem). -
When you click on the video it should start at the timestamp - and it's during the credits under the "cast" section.

Correction: They bought the land for the factory, it hasn't been built yet.

It will probably be delayed, but not by as much as Falcon Heavy was. With the recent upgrade to New Glenn (which is scheduled to fly 2020 as well) SpaceX might be freaking out a bit as they might eventually need the BFR to stay competitive, so they do have incentives to get it up fast. Even if it first flies in 2023 with a refight within a few months, it will have tied SLS.

That value, according to the website, includes revenue saved by reliability and lack of schedule slips. Actual amount paid is probably higher (and for me it seems that every config is 73M.

Astra Space Inc. (formerly Ventions) Launch
Ultimate Steve replied to tater's topic in Science & Spaceflight
It's called "Astra" but that's really all we know. -
Liftoff! I almost missed it, I remembered it was happening a minute before. Heh. Everyone's going crazy about Scott Manley being in the chat...

I'd like to see ULA try to "go big." It's 95% not going to happen, but I'd imagine they are at least partially considering a fully reusable large vehicle to stay competitive...

About two hours out! I should be able to catch this one fairly easily.

It *might* be possible. There are plenty of early career craft If I could tweak one part - add a docking port to each craft - then definitely yes.

This 100%. I hope the industry is still growing by the time I graduate from college, I really want to work at one of these places. The definition of sci-fi rocket has surely changed over the years. It's amazing to think that soon, this could be the norm... But then again, some guy in 1950 took a poll of a bunch of other people. The poll was about whether or not three things would happen in the next 50 years - a cure for cancer, nuclear powered planes and trains as the norm, and a man on the moon. 88% thought a cure for cancer would happen, 63% thought nuclear everything would happen, but only 15% thought a moon landing would happen. I'd like to redo that poll and see the results in several decades' time. I might poll my school.
