Proposal for a crewed tether-centrifuge mission
Ultimate Steve replied to Starman4308's topic in Science & Spaceflight
I agree, a low gravity medium term mission is probably necessary at some point. However, it can be done for cheaper, maybe even in one launch. Say you took a very lightly modified Falcon 9/Dragon combo (Starliner might also work) so that once in orbit, stage two and the Dragon would be connected with a tether. The Dragon's RCS could be used to spin it up. The tether would have to be specially attached to the Dragon/S2, hence the slightly modified (as you said, docking ports probably can't handle the forces) part. Crew Dragon isn't huge, but it's still pretty large considering it's a space capsule. A crew of three might work for medium term. the extra oxygen can fit in the trunk. Granted, it would be pretty cramped and you wouldn't be staying for six months, but it would only require one mission if done right. I do like the idea of a multi launch artificial gravity complex, though. Some day... -
Hmm... IRL chronologically, the ASRA world was the first world to be made, I think in 2014-ish. Then there was a ton of other worlds, the actual creative mode rocket world (which I haven't told about yet) coming soon after. The first survival started in late 2016, with the cannon launch occuring in Jan. 2017, and the first Iron Giant launch on March 30, 2017... Symbolic because that was also the same day SpaceX reused a booster for the first time. In that world I've currently launched five modules of the space station (about halfway finished), and the next launch will introduce a non-reusable solid fueled kick stage that will launch a lunar impact probe. I'll get pictures of stuff eventually, but these worlds are all on the xbox 360, and screenshotting involves syncing your account to a twitter of facebook or something like that, so I might just take pictures of the screen instead.

Sorry for the late response, but here's the incredibly abbreviated version: (After writing the first 2 phases, this isn't actually as abbreviated as I wanted it to be...) EDIT: Oops. I didn't finish it and hit submit. I'll edit this again when all of it is written. EDIT: Phase 3 done. There are, like, 10 phases, so this might be a multiple day writeup... EDIT: Phase 5 done. I'll write the rest later.

It's for a music video, I'll definitely be posting it around when it is finished!

Which PC games have the most stunning graphics?
Ultimate Steve replied to kalorfafy's topic in The Lounge
Out of likes, so you get a quote. Seriously, though, for being one of the first video games ever made (and probably the first that wasn't chess or tic tac toe or something) it's graphics are amazing. The whole "trails" thing in different colors, and the rotating star background... And even the explosions! -

Fantastic! It's 3PM for me, but school's getting out early, so I should be able to see this one! -

When you're trying to make a Lego stop motion movie about space but try and make the orbital mechanics realistic and get irritated by the fact that you have to make your rockets square.

totm nov 2023 SpaceX Discussion Thread
Ultimate Steve replied to Skylon's topic in Science & Spaceflight
I'm going to put out a prediction - Falcon Heavy will launch on Valentine's Day. I hope I'm wrong (in one direction, not the other). There's always tomorrow, though! We've waited six years, we can wait another few weeks for the launch. -
Hi, due to a recent turn of events I find myself in need of a stop motion video editor. However, I need it to be: Free Easy to use Resolution of at least 1080p Compatible with Windows 10 Variable framerate (preferably in decimal) I've tried JellyCam, which is exactly what I want... Except it produces extremely low quality videos. Any suggestions? I was going to make a really cool music video for a sing I wrote but if I can't get the video done in a reasonable amount of time due to the lack of good software I'm just going to drop the idea. EDIT: YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I found a way to do it with ShotCut. It isn't as fast as I want it to be, but it's almost simple and does whatever resolution I want it to. So I'm good, but you can still suggest stuff if you want it.

If you look at this , please slap yourself.

Am I the only one who actually slapped myself? I think I did it a bit hard, my face stings a bit now... -
