Falcon Heavy to Duna
Ultimate Steve replied to sevenperforce's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Okay, challenge complete! My attempt: So it looks like I qualify for: Gone For a Spin (10 points): Before the launch, demonstrate your Roadster's moves by driving it around the KSC. Speed Demon (15 points): Test your Roadster at speeds over 100 mph (45 m/s). Falcon Nine (27 points): Use nine engines on each of your booster cores. Autonomic (13 points): Use drone cores; nothing manned. Looking Easy (16 points): Recover at least one parallel booster. Insane Mode (42 points): Recover both parallel boosters with boostback, RTLS (anywhere on KSC continent), and propulsive landing. Downrange (19 points): Recover your center core. Supercruise (18 points): Recover your center core by landing on a boat. Tru Lyfe (33 points): All booster recoveries without chutes. Hail Mary (28 points): Bring back the upper stage. Double Trouble (26 points): Build your own fairings and recover at least one. Purity (30 points): No mods. Destination (22 points): Land your Roadster on Duna and take it for a spin! As for Double Trouble, it says "Fairings" instead of "fairing," so I'm not sure that I qualify for that one. As for destination, that one's up to you if it counts. If my in-my-head addition has not failed me, that's 299 points, or 251 if none of the two questionable ones count. That was fun! And now I have a semi decent rover to do stuff with! *suspiciously eyes Dakar thread* EDIT: I forgot the video, scroll back up. EDIT: Oops, put two videos and deleted first image.- 77 replies

Falcon Heavy to Duna
Ultimate Steve replied to sevenperforce's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Well, as far as boat landing, my problem wasn't destroying the boat, it was just hitting it in the first place! Glad to see you landed all 3 in one go. I managed to land both of the side boosters in one go and could have done the fairing as well but I decided not to. The center one took a lot of trying, but I eventually made it. The second stage was also recovered. Currently en route to Duna, formal submission coming soon.- 77 replies

Falcon Heavy to Duna
Ultimate Steve replied to sevenperforce's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Question. Quickloading for recovery is allowed, right? Like, if I detach the boosters, quicksave, land one, quickload, land the other, quickload then continue the mission? This is only so that the whole "2.5km limit" thing doesn't get me, that's fine, right? Because trying to land three cores and a fairing at pretty much the same time would be pretty difficult.- 77 replies

Okay, I've almost finished my work on the "Tesla:" Unfortunately it will need just a tad bit of pruning - 44.9 is its maximum speed. EDIT: This took me infinite fuel and an hour of trying, but...- 77 replies

Okay, I've got enough going on right now, but I am so going to try to max out my score on this. I'll start tonight, might not get done for a while. *checks clock* Yup, it's 11 here... Question about the purity category, are informational/visual mods fine for that?- 77 replies

That's the thing I also wanted, but I'd imagine they're pretty hard to find this time of year. But, I'm not complaining!

Holy Jeb I just aerocaptured a 550 ton stack of solid rocket boosters into Eve Orbit at 4x time acceleration with the recording app running and still had the game running at full speed. I love this computer! One minor gripe, the power cord appears to be very loose, if I accidentally tap the tower while stretching my legs, half the time it will shut off on me. Note to self, don't tap the tower with my feet.

One Sepratron - furthest flight
Ultimate Steve replied to Ultimate Steve's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Eh! Also I'm 100% sure distances over 20km are possible, I tried just for example but today our internet has been slower than ion engines and I physically cannot upload the pictures to imgur right now. -
One Sepratron - furthest flight
Ultimate Steve replied to Ultimate Steve's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Ahh, sorry, my mistake. Fixing now! Don't know how I managed to not see that! -
This challenge is simple: How far can you fly on one sepratron? Restrictions: You may not consume or create any xenon, liquid fuel, oxidizer, monopropellant, ore, or ablator while you attempt this challenge. The only source of thrust may be one sepratron. You may adjust the thrust limiter or propellant capacity as much as you like. All decouplers and launch clamps used must be set to zero impulse as to not provide thrust. To compete in the Manned category, you must have a Kerbal onboard. There is an unmanned category as well. Launch clamps may be used, but you may not have the launch clamps drop the vessel from an outrageous height. Try to keep it below 10m, don't abuse this. No Kraken drives of any type allowed, this includes ladder drives, K-drives, and anything else the community has come up with since them. No powered rover wheels, no driving to increase distance. You may not use propellers powered by reaction wheels. In general don't try to exploit anything. Scoring is judged by total distance travelled and ground distance covered (not sure which one is more accurate) in the F3 menu. Beware, quickloading will reset these values, so try and do it all in one run! No using modded parts. Informational (KER, Mechjeb, etc.) and visual (EVE, SVE, PlanetShine, etc.) are allowed. Leaderboard: Manned: @Magzimum - 6.5/6.7km - "SepatrEgg" which used a service bay to minimize drag on the Kerbal. @vyznev - 5.8/6.1km - "Kerbat" which had really cool wings! Unmanned: @Marschig - 50.8/52.7km - Very streamlined design similar to most of the other submissions. @vyznev - 24.0km/25.0km - Interesting design with a cone at the back to reduce drag. 2 fins. @DoctorDavinci - 9.6/11.2km. Three finned okto plane. @Geonovast - 9.1/9.7km - A really cute lightweight glider centered around an Okto. Enjoy! Have fun!

Appears to be a Raedon Radeon RX 580. Missed that earlier.

Let's see... CyberPowerPC gua2600bst. 1TB hard drive. AMD Ryzen 5 1400 Quad-Core Processor, 3200 Mhz. No idea what any of that means. 8GB of installed RAM (with three more RAM slots in case I need more). And cool lights.

Yes! Just loaded KSP, zero lag on a hundred part ship orbiting Moho. 1:2 time dilation on a 1000 part SRB grand tour ship orbiting Gilly (improved over 1:10). Realism Overhaul with visual enhancement mods, here I come!

I'm freaking out so much right now. I'm writing this from my new Cyberpower desktop computer. No idea if it's considered amazing or not by the gaming community, but it's certainly better than the various laptops I've used in the past! KSP is copying over right now. I'd do a fresh download, but it's Christmas so the Wifi is excruciatingly slow (had to try twice to get to this thread). Getting ready for MAXIMUM FPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Merry Christmas, Y'all!

Merry Christmas, forum!
I just want to sincerely wish you all an amazing day today regardless of what you believe this day is about, and regardless of any bad things that have been looming above you for the past few days or weeks.
Also I made a Christmas song medley thing but I didn't have time to record a non-live version or upload it to YouTube so I'll get that to y'all later!
P.S. Just as an update, SRB grand tour episode 2 is about 3/5 through the editing process (although the past five days have been spent doing something else).
Again, Marry Christmas!

So, at my church this year we're doing a service without any adults involved (who's idea was that) so I thought it would be a good idea to make a background track of a bunch of Christmas songs and play that on the projector while I play the melody on my trombone. Unfortunately, I didn't get started until 2 or 3 days ago, not the best idea. I managed to get it mostly done. However, I'm seven hours from having to play it, it's 1:30 in the morning, and I'm having problems exporting the file. I hope it works this time (3rd try), it's currently at 48%. I want to be in bed before 2:00 but I don't see that happening... Don't procrastinate, people! It's not worth it!

Oof... Second or first grade? I literally cannot remember anything specific. I had yet to discover my passion for space at that point, and I was probably towards the end of my train phase (I was obsessed with trains) and potentially going through my very short spy phase. I actually think I might have some of my writing assignments buried somewhere in my bottomless filing cabinet...

So three goats walk into a bar. After a short while the bar catches on fire. The first goat says to the other goats, "Hey, we better get out of here!" The second goat agrees, responding with "Yeah, let's escape!" The third goat, however, opts to stay in the burning building. When asked why by his fellow goats, he said "If I escaped this, I'd be known as a scapegoat for the rest of my life! Nobody wants to be a scapegoat!"

Wait, the interstage separated? Did it or are you just asking? They may be separating the interstage to do a test with a lower drag stage one, to simulate the return of an FH side booster. -
